  1. I've gotten those from time to time to. ...In my case, usually when I was eating a lot of candy or sweets. Mouth washes have helped speed healing, reduce pain.
  2. symptoms may include (but aren't limited to): abdominal cramping, intestinal gas, distention and bloating chronic diarrhea or constipation (or both) steatorrhea -- fatty stools anemia - unexplained, due to folate, B12, B6, or iron deficiency (or all) weight loss with large appetite, or weight gain dental enamel defects osteopenia, osteoporosis...
  3. Oh Judy, how I wish I could do something to bring you tangible relief from all this. I am glad the itching is gone...hopefully that will stay away. That is a ton of scrapbooks!! Too bad Rachel and I and other scrapbookers can't come over and help you whip them out Wish I knew about Celulitis...maybe even after the infection is gone, it takes a few months...
  4. Carolyn- Here are some of my favorite gluten-free/cf products below: (Blue Diamond looks cf from the label...I think Tiffany drinks it, you could verify with her, as she is cf too). My favorite gluten-free/cf "butter" alternatives are Earth Balance sticks and spread. Sticks work perfectly as a sub for regular butter in cooking. Both taste great! First...

    ARCHIVED Holidays

Don't be too hard on yourself! I understand the frustration of having to go to be with your family and have to trouble shoot to make sure you get a *safe* meal. I would definitely bring snacks, cereal if you eat that for breakfast, bread, a little gluten-free dessert (cookie etc) for you. Will their house have anything gluten-free for you? Or could you...
  6. I tend to switch things around based on what I'm making too..however, there is a mix that has worked great for me in general baking recipes, you sub 1:1 for regular flour, xanthan gum included. Everything I've made with it has turned out great. Sometimes its nice to have a premade mix on hand for quick cooking. See the mix here: Open Original Shared Link...
  7. I also like the whole grain--great in cooking! I bought some of the puffed side dish...not so great. I also had a clerk at Wild Oats stop by b/c she thought I was looking at the cereal (I wasn't though...) and told me "Don't buy it, its henious!"
  8. Mia- I also always had C pre-gluten-free. I would say that it took a few months for me to improve, but as a rule I am pretty regular now. I do take psyllium on occasion when needed though--maybe a few times a month. I would expect you to definitely notice improvement in that area, however, 1 1/2 wks is not long. I also had to give up dairy b/c that causes...
  9. So most of the dairy is butter? That is easy to replace... However, yogurt, sour cream are a bit harder...but can be done. Just wondered...
  10. I've heard good stuff about this book... Do most of her recipes have dairy in them?
  11. Ah--hate it when that happens!
  12. Went to Costco last night... They do have some gluten-free stuff there, but not a ton. They have some naturally gluten-free tortilla chips and I bought a 6 pack of Thai Kitchen micro meals. Also...there are assorted nuts that are gluten-free.
  13. My FAVORITE is Lundberg Original (teal bag). Garden of Eatin' also has some that are really good.
  14. Congrats!! That's great! Feeling like you can do the things again that you love is a great feeling... My energy has improved and I can work out now each week...but still have a ways to go before I hit anything "long-distance" again...
  15. Thanks Tiffany... They better!!
  16. I got worse before getting better on the diet. It was a really hard first year for me. I felt more tired and sick than previous even...even as my blood work improved and normalized. A celiac nurse I was working with said she thinks 2 years is the amount of time it takes *most* to actually start feeling "normal" or greatly improved again. I have been gluten...
  17. Judy- Got your e-mail...I think I am getting all of them... Glad you really enjoy the book. I love it b/c I think God really does use it to speak to individuals at different times. A friend e-mailed out 2 passages from it last week b/c they really spoke to her, as she struggles to fight her alcoholism. I liked the one about the "Red Sea" from last week...
  18. I think I've heard some stories about Kings Island being accomodating. I'm sure they get a fair amount of kids with food allergies actually... Good luck!
  19. What a flippin' idiot. (I'm annoyed). I don't get it. Everytime I've gone I ask and they say yes, we always use a clean one. There is always that risk though... Good reminder to all Nashville...
  20. Oh-BTW... I went to the concert w/ my food and letter in hand. ...and the guy who checked my bag said "ah, I've been letting people in with food all day. I don't see what the big deal is with it." I told him he was a good man
  21. Ugh on the ceiling..again! Sent you some houses to enjoy--hopefully they are "leak-free"! Still praying friend...
  22. I would also respond with some basic information. There may come a day when someone with celiac disease or gluten intolerance who is new or unsure may trust their faulty "information"!
  23. I have had issues in the past a few times--I think it is a mix of the heavy flavorings, additives, sodium etc. for me.
  24. Heating pad and Similasan ear drops--pain relieving. Are helpful. Hope you are better soon--ear pain stinks!
