  1. Judy Judy Judy... aw my friend, got yr e-mail...thanks for filling me in. I am praying for you each day as you get through this--and now I will pray for safety to if you are in the hospital, and safety in your treatment. Wanted to keep this little surprise...but so you have something to look fwd to you should be getting something in the mail soon...probably...
  2. Weirdness... I use their broths and other soups...never tried the french onion. Seems like the products that contain the vitacel are listed as having wheat ingredients at the end of the statement, like the french onion did. Since that is the labeling law now. I woudn't try that particular soup either. ...But I will stick with the others for now.
  3. I assume here the the cobblestone pattern is another phrase used to describe "mosaic pattern." This occurs often in Celiacs due to intestinal damage and seeing it can make it more likely that you have it. However, it can't be used as an indicator on its own. Did they biopsy you during the endoscopy? https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-5710...
  4. Tiffany-- Is the amaranth amaranth flour, puffed, seed? If I've got it, might make this for dinner tonight!
  5. I also recommend being careful...you'll have plenty of time ahead for a few drinks. I would wait till your system has time to heal and get back up to par. When the time comes this info should be helpful: https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-22106592297.2a
  6. Here is a list of the products I use: Open Original Shared Link
  7. Perhaps there is someone here who uses Tofutti products...I haven't. When I looked up their response on gluten, woo wee--its a long one! Read here: Open Original Shared Link
  8. I also rec California Baby--all their products are gluten-free. They have shampoos, soaps, sunscreen, bubble bath, lotions etc...
  9. I posted on foods that are naturally "detoxing" but can't find it now. I do remember using this article though: Open Original Shared Link I think psyllium is also an excellent cleanser that is safe--really cleans out old stools etc. from bowels.
  10. sounds great--you should post a pic! you might get a few orders
  11. Thanks Kim! Cute new avatar--you two are adorable!
  12. I 2nd was Tiffany said above. A great weight to lose weight...and to just eat anyway, is lower-carb. When you do choose a carb, go for a high fiber/high nutrition one...such as millet or quinoa vs. white rice. When I started adding on the pounds post gluten-free, I cut down on my simple carb intake and have stopped gaining weight...even lost most of what...
  13. Julie- Do you have a liver issue/disease? As was said here, most Celiacs have elevated liver enzymes. For the majority of Celiacs, those numbers return to normal after some time on the gluten-free diet. I would approach liver "cleanses" very carefully. Some of those end up causing more damage/stress to the body. As the study below says, most enzymes...
  14. Salad with meat and dressing is a good idea. I am flying tonight and am taking a sandwich, chips, apple. A piece of fruit like an apple or orange would be good too. Couple of cookies, creamy peanut butter and veggie sticks. Crackers and cheese (remember to precut it). Not sure if you are taking other food for your trip once you get there--but I always...
  15. I think "enough" washing would probably be okay, but I did buy new myself. And, can I suggest my favorite kind? I do not like cheaper tupperware b/c it will stain and sometimes pass on a plastic taste to foods. I love these containers b/c they do not stain or add a strange taste to foods. They are easy to clean, even with greasy foods. They have also...
  16. All prepackaged Sara Lee meats are gluten-free. Also-Hillshire as Richard mentioned. Hillshire Deli Selects are my favorite--in the red gladware tub.
  17. oooo that's right, Lumi is on my list too
  18. I know you said not LEY restaurants--but Big Bowl now has gluten-free pad thai--and it is amazing!!! I would drive back to Chi-town just for it alone! I LOVE Vinci's too--go there everytime I'm in town. They have a great gluten-free menu for all courses and the rice pasta is excellent. Open Original Shared Link Great staff too.
  19. Congrats!! Bread is my big weakness in gluten-free cooking--flippin' frustrates the hell out of me!! I've got the cookies down though--and those are even more important I'll look for your recipe...
  20. Tommorrow I don't get in till like 9 at night You are busy!! Thurs nite we are at Asia de Cuba and Sat nite at Bistango's.... I remember you loved Sambuca, right? I may try for that Fri nite... Then I hope to squeeze in Blooms, BabyCakes, Risotteria (definitely) maybe Hampton Chutney... Bridge and I were going to try and meet for lunch one day--it...

  23. I'm confused--I've seen this Blooms with a gluten-free menu, info below: Blooms Deli Café 350 Lexington Avenue (corner of 40th Street) New York, New York 10016 212-922-FOOD (3663) www.bloomsnewyorkdeli.com HOWEVER, this website above doesn't work. Is this deli still around? Or is it the same as this deli? Open Original Shared Link ? It has a different ...
  24. Way to go Tiffany--sounds great!
  25. So I made the cinnamon ice cream last night and it tasted really good. DH liked it too! One thing I noticed...it melted pretty quickly... Next time I may try adding a little oil to see if adding some fat back in helps. Did you try it yet Patti??
