  1. YEA!!!! I am really really going to make the icecream tonight!! Vincent--maybe the other recipes have oil in them to add a little fat back into the "icecream" ? I think I might try to make cinnamon icecream--yummy yummy !!!!
  2. That's good to hear I have their mac and cheese and have been a little afraid to try it--didn't think it would be that good... But you've given me some hope !
  3. I also had C for years...after being gluten-free for several months it got better though. Basic things first--NO gluten at all...in meds, food etc. Second, exercise, drink water, eat a healthy, varied diet. Third--I have been through the ringer with constipation "solutions" and psyllium is still my favorite. Relying on laxatives or cleanese is harmful...
  4. California Baby lotions are gluten-free/cf.
  5. My SIL did a cleanse a while back and also had a worm come out--freaked her out a bit. Would me too! They are henious things! I had pin worms when I was a little kid...miserable. It's completely disgusting, but I could feel them!
  6. He he Donna I will say too that I use my rice milk in cooking w/o any issues... And I have used soy yogurt as a sub in cooking too with success. I use earth balance gluten-free/cf "butter" for cooking and baking. Works great! Open Original Shared Link (1st and 5th products shown)
  7. To add to Tiffany's post... I also rec Pacific Rice milk--I think it very good for a milk alternative. Vance's is also good. There are recipes for icecream and whip cream using Vance's also. I had to order mine online: Open Original Shared Link (I can point you to the recipes if you purchase and are interested. Vincent made the icecream and thought...
  8. It sounds like it would be frightening Marcia! An infusion is similar to a transfusion in procedure, but the iron is synthetic--it does not come from another person. It was an easy and pretty painless procedure. Your doctor puts you on an iron iv and you sit as the iron goes into your body--takes several hours....but in bad situations its a godsend. My...
  9. Good idea Christine--I was also going to recommend U of C celiac disease center. I'm sure it would be worth the drive--even as just an initial visit.
  10. Cool! Let me know what you think. (PS: 5 days till NYC! : )
  11. Hmm, I don't know about Enamel Hypoplasia specifically, but quite a few Celiacs from here have complained about high tooth decay and related issues. My dentist blames Celiac for my own dental issues and she said at my appt last week that my teeth and gums have definitely improved since I was diagnosed. Go figure !
  12. Yikes! Thanx for catching that...I meant to say the only dairy-free item and oopsed! I corrected my earlier post.
  13. Marcia- Sorry that won't work for you. Leafy greens are rich in iron too. However, my iron was so low that iron-rich foods were not enough. If you continue to have trouble with supplements or your iron continues to decrease, you may want to meet with a hematologist and discuss an infusion.
  14. Andrea- Read about the diet here: Open Original Shared Link It is typically tried by those with unresponsive Celiac, Crohns or IBD.
  15. Yeah, the toaster is one item I would not try to clean myself--seems to difficult...
  16. Well, small oops, but big victory at Panera--good for you! You'll get better and better at it. Probably all of us have had those initial "oops" I forgot I'm a Celiac moments! I walk down the bread isle now and go "uh, stinky"
  17. According to Country Crock's website, the Willow Run Spread is the only dairy-free item. So all other Country Crock products would be off limits on a cf (casein/dairy free) diet. Yes-if you go dairy free, you have to avoid whey. Open Original Shared Link
  18. There isn't any definite evidence that says all Celiacs should give up dairy...however, dairy is one of the most allergic foods and does cause quite a bit of problems to many Celiacs...which is probably one of the reasons you have heard about it. I think you probably have to use some discernment in this area...it wouldn't hurt to give up dairy (I now believe...
  19. Slow Fe is definitely the most gentle I've used. I took iron for years b/c I finally had an iron infusion to correct the problem. Go here to view product: Open Original Shared Link
  20. No, the mix I use already has xanthan gum in it. I've had great success with any recipe I've subbed the flour in. The mix is Authentic Foods Mult-Flour. Go here and scroll down to the last one on the page: Open Original Shared Link Sorry about those cookies! I think that happened to my 1st ones too I like this mix b/c I prefer to use the old recipes...
  21. Came across this today while searching for some stuff. Berneses, I remember we talked about their new body products. Did you ever get any feedback from them on the products? I'll try to follow-up with them if someone doesn't beat me to it. Huh ??? Open Original Shared Link All Giovanni body care products are formulated from a wheat protein...
  22. Sounds like a good sandwich I toast my Kinnikinnick bread too, although I really toast it up, and eat it with some miracle whip, horseradish sauce and ham I bet cream cheese would be good if I did dairy!
  23. I use the original toll house recipe with my gluten-free cookies--I just sub my flour blend 1:1 ratio. They are good
