  1. Did you say you had only been gluten-free for 1 week? I wasn't sure what you meant. If so, that is def not enough time to allow the gluten-free diet to start the healing process. Going gluten-free isn't going 1/2 way! The SCD isn't necessary for everyone. Remind him that you are taking the first step, and if that doesn't work, after a good period of...
  2. I'm lucky...I have a big upright freezer and keep my icecream maker in there at all times in a bag--ready to go!
  3. An elimination is one of the best tools at our fingertips! I advise you to keep a good food/symptom journal either way--it helps you link symptoms to specific foods.
  4. Yeah friend! Glad you're alright and that your husband "did the right" thing with the flowers too!!
  5. ha ha let us know how it goes!
  6. You shouldn't feel like a failure! It takes such discipline to make big lifestyle changes, like the SCD--especially when you are choosing and not being forced to do so. You decided to try the SCD do to ongoing symptoms? One thing I think that is helpful is stocking up on things you can eat in advance so you are all ready to go and not so overwhelmeds....
  7. Okay, so I am hopefully going to make icecream with Vance's this weekend. Vincent--did you try any other flavors besides vanilla/chocolate? I wondered about trying to make a butter pecan or something. Although, I'll probably just start out with vanilla. Excited.... I do like the milk... It reminds me a bit of a protein shake...
  8. Usually washing something will make it safe...however, there has been some debate over wooden spoons "retaining" gluten after washing. There are some folks on here to share utensils between safe food and food with gluten. I think sometimes that can be done...I choose not to simply so I do not have to worry out it. My dh has his own pan, griddle and spatula...
  9. Wow--was surprised to see this thread up again Dionnek--as Nisla says, gluten-free is gluten-free for life if you are a Celiac--you won't be able to eat the conventional baked goodies again. However, there are some wonderful gluten-free ones out there! I made gluten-free/cf chocolate chip cookies with the tollhouse recipe that are great! BTW--I wrote...
  10. I also say Lundberg...I choose to stay away from Quaker products.
  11. You can absolutely have C. I did. The "Old Paradigm" of Celiac says D only, but now we know that paradigm was wrong. You can have one or the other or alternate between.
  12. That's what I was thinking too... You can view the intestines w/o a biopsy and notice *signs* of celiac disease...like the scalloping. Why don't you have the blood work done? I think you said something about a blood work thread...I'll go look for it...
  13. What do you mean had gluten on them?? As in, had been used with gluten foods previously, but had been washed, or literally had gluten on them?
  14. One had wheat in it too I remember reading....

    ARCHIVED Fibromyalgia?

Judy- so that has helped you? had an interesting appt today, on this topic too--will write u later. Bern- Sorry for the pain! I can relate... have the FM pain for several years now. Exercise is a biggie...good for muscles, helps keep the flexible, strong and it raises seratonin levels...which is one of the ways FM has found to be improved. I just started...
  16. My mom bought it for me...It is nicely organized and has great pictures--two things I like However, it is just general knowledge as Cassidy said. It might be worthwhile for someone though... I don't think I'll ever use it. It lists all different types of restaurants and general "guidelines" in eating within each type. ie. Thai food--these items are...
  17. I could find you an exact recipe, but what I've done is make up a mixture using peanut butter, honey, some vanilla melted in a pan, pour over granola, press into pan and bake...
  18. Unfortunately, sometimes a cause can not be identified--however, I compiled all the ones I could find below. I'd look through them and see if any connect with you. You don't also have gastritis or an ulcer too? Sometimes pregnancy can be a trigger for Celiac, however, maybe it started before you noticed symptoms. Some Celiacs do suffer from nerve damage...
  19. I doubt it would be pinworms--you would know if you had those!!! You wouldn't be able to sit still! Looking at tapeworms makes me want to barf!!! but it doesn't seem like that's your problem. Are you very underweight? HOW was your doctor's appt today Lister??
  20. casserole looks good! i'll take down the recipe--bet dh would like it! hope you're well!
  21. Congrats Kim!! Glad it all went well!
  22. Lister- Glad you tried the chips and liked them!
  23. Don't worry--you'll get the hang of it! And remember, this isn't about your family, your father in law, but about you. So put your fears of offending others aside. There is a way to present your situation to a restaurant in a serious and professional type of manner. Ask your server for a manager and tell the manager that you have serious food allergies...
  24. Well, the decision will be up to you...but my experience with those bars was not good. I called the company several times and each time the staff I spoke with acted very incompetent...and each time they told me all of their bars were gluten-free. Which they clearly were not! Due to that, I decided to steer clear of them. But that was maybe about a year...
  25. You don't have 'eat' something contaminated to get worms either--they can also be passed person to person... One more day till your appt right???!
