  1. thanks! can't wait to try these. do you ever make homemade eggrolls?? i have some rice paper wraps, but haven't locked onto a recipe yet...
  2. I met with a celiac nurse this week who mentioned steering clear of annatto. She mentioned it can irritate Celiacs who are still healing... That's all I can think of on it....
  3. I agree with what Rachel said. I did an IgE test--everything came back normal. However, when I did my IgG test, I had a myriad of allergies come back. I have pasted in some more info below on the two... . What is the difference between food allergy and food intolerance? Many people think the terms food allergy and food intolerance mean the same...
  4. i also think Kraft, although aloof on gluten-free or not, is a life-saver of a brand at times b/c you know if gluten isn't on the label...it shouldn't be in the product.... if i am out somewhere and need a certain type of product and don't have a gluten-free list or time to ck, i can turn to a kraft product and feel pretty confident after cking the label...
  5. it is so i am making a t-shirt for my dh for christmas too that says "girls only want boyfriends with great skills." i know a lot of people who had more success with the movie the 'second time around'...so don't give up yet!
  6. i would also asked...but to start with... how about grilled or sauteed fish in olive oil with salt, pepper, lemon and olive oil. if your grill has had gluten on it though...you will need to cook in foil. you could also poach it. salmon or tilapia (think i spelled that wrong). steamed veggies or veggies sauteed with onion/garlic. tossed fresh fruit for...
  7. thanks! yeah, i'll take the tempura recipe too if you don't mind...
  8. so glad they're keeping you up on this...
  9. My rec is to NOT eat those bars. I had one a long time ago b/c I thought they were okay--and the company told me twice that ALL of their bars were gluten-free. Well, they were smokin' something because several of the bars have wheat in them. If you go back to the store, read their labels and you will see several of them have it. I recommend not eating...
  10. you can go for more whole grain type breads....not just the white rice flour and tapico type. i vote for beans too--they have soluble and nonsolube fiber both.
  11. wow...sounds like a unique advertisement...
  12. Bernadette- I do not chew any gum....pretty much any kind unsettles my stomach (definitely if it has artificial sweetners). I think sometimes it is simply that the gum gets our digestive system on alert, the chewing and the gum make our body think we're going to be eating, so the juices get flowing, so to speak That's always been one of my theories on...
  13. jersey- glad i could give you a bright spot in the day
  14. A colonscopy will not do the trick for a Celiac diagnosis. You do need an endoscopy with multiple biopsies. Read here or take with you if your doc gives you a hard time on this: https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodid=44
  15. stupid food is right. sometimes food bothers me b/c it is a an issue of gluten, but other times it is b/c of other foods that upset me, or other intolerances. like how i can't eat turkey, corn, caffeine. will we ever know the answers??! as has been highlighted on a recent thread (amy's dinners), there is always a risk of accidental contamination...
  16. Nancy- thanks also for sharing. neither of my parents has Celiac...but my dad's family is most suspicous as the carrier (not that both couldn't be...) ...his grandmother dying of intestinal cancer. i only learned that recently. my dad said he just remembered how painful of a death she had... he has plenty of other digestive issues, but no Celiac. ...
  17. Judy- E-mail me if you like and I can send you Burt's gluten-free list. Their list states all lip glosses and shimmers are gluten-free.
  18. Def not. If you want to be bold with your family you could recommend a gluten-free stuffing instead of regular! There are quite a few stuffing recipes under the Thanksgiving recipes post. Also...if the turkey has not stuffing and seems okay, make sure you are able to verify the brand, additives etc. before partaking. I actually bring my own little miny...
  19. LLRD-- The symptoms you mentioned can definitely be a celiac thing... but people without Celiac can have them as well. I had constipation and bowels similar to you before going gluten-free. It took me several months to get going, but I am much better now. Are you going to get tested or do more research to know if you have Celiac? I recommend everyone...
  20. You can also order premade pie crusts from www.naturalfeast.com And if you decided you don't want to make the pie, you can buy the whole pie too. This is what I'm getting for my b-day next month. I have also used an all nut crust and made one using finely crushed gluten-free cereal and butter. I can give you more info on those if you want.

  22. huh, if all of the labels on those read okay, i'm not sure what it would be. i will say i can't tolerate regular chili. i can make spicy foods, but i think the combo of grease in the hamburger or beef, with beefs and spices just doesn't work. what else have you eaten the past 2 days? did anyone help make the chili?
  23. Go here to see stats from the Univ of Chicago. They use 1 in 22 in a different manner. Anywho, think these show probably the most reliable stats I know of... Open Original Shared Link
  24. that sounds like something my dh would like! on a side note--any of you see napoleon dynamite? my dad and i have been joking about it lately... "Napoleon--give me some of your tots!"
