  1. I don't know of any NSAID free over the counter pain reliever. Baking Soda makes a great toothpaste once you get used to the taste.
  2. Eating out used to be something I enjoyed and looked forward to. Now after 9 months gluten free, I have vowed never to eat out unless I am forced to by circumstance. I would never plan to eat out. In my first few months I did. But after so much discussion about ordering, and still getting sick, now I just don't want to. It's like a land mine or Russian Roulette...
  3. Since he has been off of gluten, any tests the GI would do would likely be negative. I have a teen with non-classic symptoms, asthma, fatigue, lethargy, depression, rashes, leg pain. Dr.'s were no help to me at all. They said it couldn't be Celiac, he isn't underweight and he has no classic symptoms. However, I was certain it was gluten. So he went off it...
  4. Open Original Shared Link You can't buy cashews in the shell.
  5. coffee itself is gluten free. Coffee Mate creamers are gluten free too. So enjoy.
  6. Oh my God Loves2Travel!!! I was hoping you would answer me! Now you really must give me your recipe, because that authentic Scottish Shortbread is what I want!!! Thank you for the tips. I considered coconut flour...I have some but haven't used it. I am happy!
  7. Did anybody tell Amy about this? I would think she would want to know.
  8. Gluten can cause the emotional reactions you are having. Doesn't matter if they call it psychiatric or neurological...it is gluten effecting the brain and the emotions. It is very common...many threads here on the anxiety/depression reactions to gluten. Sensitivity can increase and that may be why you are having more symptoms with your gluten reactions. ...
  9. My favorite treat was shortbread. Just Butter, Sugar and Flour. Could I make it with cornstarch or cornflour? I'm not into gluten free baking yet so don't have xanthan gum or rice flour or sorghum or any of those things. What do you bakers think?? Should I try it? If it won't work, I will take any recipes you have for Shortbread. I loved the stuff...
  10. Wow...that is a DH nightmare. I would just like to say iodized salt can keep the antibodies active in DH lesions. I had to avoid it for 3 months to heal my sores. Read about the iodine/gluten connection in DH in this section. For the horrible itching I used a pain relieving ointment with Benzocaine -walgreens brand. It provided temporary relief...up...
  11. That is exactly what happens to me..including the interstitial cystitis feelings. The first week is hell, the second week is better and it might all be gone if it wasn't a heavy glutening. The third week almost back to normal. A whole noodle is a whole month of recovering for me. But everyone's reaction time is different. You will have to learn by trial and...
  12. You could definitely have Celiac. I had rashes that came and went. Stayed for months then healed for no reason. Until DH happened on my face and stayed. Mine is sensitive to the sun. In the archives here on DH some people have described sun sensitivity with their DH. You are not barking up the wrong tree. You could have Celiac. Try to get a full panel, but...
  13. If you are tired of the Dr.'s just stay gluten free. I had the symptoms of gastoparesis, but no diagnosis, and had fibromyalgia symptoms and a lot of migraine headaches. I'm 9 months into gluten free and I can tell you it has all gone away. Anyway, as far as what you should be seeing now, well you haven't been on it very long, and it will take time. You...
  14. Her severe stomach pain and pale stools and your diagnosis are enough to warrant testing her for Celiac or trying the gluten free diet to see if it helps her. That would be enough for me to take her gluten free to try to relieve her stomach pain.
  15. I use Nature Made...They say gluten free on the label...and my vitamin D levels are coming up. They have not made me sick.

    ARCHIVED Frustrated With Drs

Dr.'s ugh!!! First they won't test for Celiac when you ask for it. Then when you figure it out yourself, they want you to go back on gluten to verify your self-diagnosis. I had a Dr. who said TSH is normal you are fine. I had all the symptoms of Hashimoto's. Went to another Dr. and told him I have Celiac and I want to be tested for Hashimoto's. Tested Postive...
  17. Hey!! sa1937 posted a Flourless Chocolate Cake here a few months ago that looked yummy... Oh my god!!
  18. Sounds kinda like a home made Snickers! I'm definitely trying it! Thank you!
  19. I had that much anxiety too. I couldn't believe it all just went away! I can go wherever I want to now! I'm very happy for you! It is really free-ing isn't it? I wish everyone with social anxiety and feeling reclusive could know that gluten can cause these feelings. Unbelievable...but wonderful to have it gone! Enjoy!
  20. Gluten definitely caused my interstitial cystitis. I was treated for years with antibiotics and always felt I had a bladder infection but it didn't test positive for bacteria. This problem plagued me for years. I thought it was always going to be there. When I went gluten free to deal with muscle weakness and migraines, I was absolutely shocked to have solved...
  21. To save money I bought 2 dozen of the white terry cloth car washing rags in the car care section of Wal-Mart. I use them as little hand towels in the kitchen and get a new one many times a day. I wash them alone with soap and bleach. Pretty hand towels are kinda expensive for me, so if you are on a budget, this works great. They are like 5 bucks for 12. Turns...
  22. You just made my day! I have been avoiding Blue Cheese now for 9 months. I'm celebrating this with a salad with Blue Cheese Dressing this weekend. I will let ya know how it goes!
  23. I am tired of.... My Grain Headaches all day long. I gave up wheat, headaches gone!
  24. I don't know for sure but what happens to me is.... The less salt I eat...the more I can taste salt. I eliminated it due to DH and now I can only toelrate a little salt...and lunchmeat or anything processed tastes WAAY too salty. The tastebuds get more sensitive without it I guess. Same thing happened with sugar. The less sugar I ate, the less I could...
  25. I'm not smart enough for Haiku's, but you guys are hilarious. So I'm gonna try one. The Celiac Cure Will take all your pain away It's Harakiri! Did I do that right? hahahaha
