  1. I was another of the super heavyweight celiacs also.
  2. I was just too sick and don't ever want to be that way again. I have too many good things happening in my life to blow it by eating a donut.
  3. Perfect. You could not have picked a better name.
  4. An empty prostate is a happy prostate. Oh wait can I say that?
  5. Is your boyfriend completely gluten free? Are there other health problems that he is having. Celiac caused me to become obese and all of the other health problems that go along with being overweight. The brain fog and fatigue certainly caused problems for me. I am 38 and have not had any more difficultties since I went gluten-free and lost the weight. More...
  6. If Curezone says it then you just know it is 100% true. Yeah right.
  7. Some people are just completely incapable of wrapping their brain around a food intolerance. My ex-wife was and still is that way. My life has changed very dramatically since we divorced and I gave up gluten and she still just can't make the connection. You may never be able to get mom to get it but you will have to stand your ground on this one.
  8. Did you know that it is MUCH HARDER to become a veterinarian than a human doctor? I have two cousins who are human doctors and the only reason they do that is because they flunked out of vet school!
  9. Ethanol or something close could certainly be derived from wheat.
  10. Always been a lunch packer. It is just easier and cheaper. The only time I go out for lunch is with clients or customers. That way it is on their's or the companies credit card, not mine.
  11. I would get bloating big time. As long as I stay gluten-free it is not a problem. Sometimes even a miniscule amount of gluten will bloat me up like a balloon.
  12. It seemed to work fine this morning.
  13. Sounds like our old friend brain fog. That used to happen many times a day back in the dark days of gluten. Haven't had that happen in about a year.
  14. The type of corn used for ethanol is generally not the same strain that is used for human food. I really don't think it would have that dramatic of an effect on food prices. I think the cost of oil has more of an effect because of the amount of energy required to plant, harvest and process the crops. Increased use of ethanol could actually cause the price...
  15. Protien, green veggies, moderate amounts of fruit, yogurt, cheese and nuts do the trick for me. Refined, processed carbs are off limits because they only make you crave more. I was once one of the super heavy weight celiacs but not anymore. It takes time for your body to readjust to the reduced food intake. I now only eat about 30% of what I used to eat and...
  16. I can send a new PM but the reply buttons don't work at all. I get a page not found error.
  17. I have found doctors to be a group of people who are completely incapable of thinking outside of the box. All they are taught to do is write prescriptions and when someone comes along that a prescription won't fix they just stare at you like a deer in the headlights. When it comes to nutrition all they know is the same tired old mantra, "Eat your Wheaties...
  18. Hard to say on that one. Corn is relatively easy to grow and the US has the capacity to greatly overproduce it. Plus engines would have to have some modifications to burn higher levels of ethanol. It will probably become more common but it won't happen overnight.
  19. Trader Joe's Organic Cream Line yogurt is really good and reasonably priced. It doesn't list any gluten ingredients but does say it is processed in a facility that uses soy. I haven't had any problems with it.
  20. I just love reading about how messed up Canadian politics are. Liberals in America talk about Canada as if it is some type of Socialist Utopian Paradise. I should have some of the liberals I know read this forum.
  21. There have been a couple of times I ate a fairly substantial amount of gluten and nothing happened. There have also been times when I ingested a very small amount and felt like I got run over by a cement truck.
  22. I can't tolerate citrus or apples at all. However pears, peaches and plums are just fine. Doesn't make much sense to me as to why that is.
  23. 1) Do you enjoy Indian food? (Yes) 2) If yes, how spicy do you prefer your food to be? Radioactive 3) Do you prefer: Beef 4) Do you eat pre-packaged food? (No) 5)If yes, how do you prefer to cook your food? Oven, stir fry 6) How many portions do you prefer your food to have? (single)
  24. mvaught, sign me up. Don't know what I will write about but I'll think of something. My life has literally turned into a rags to riches story since I gave up the gluten with no help from doctors whatsoever. From what I have read in the time I have been here is that most of us have had very negative experiences with doctors, myself included. There are...

    ARCHIVED Reflux?

I used to have severe reflux and heartburn but that is all gone now. Definitley a connect between the two and gluten.
