  1. Radman you are a beacon of hope for the celiac world. I went to dozens of doctors and all they knew how to do was write prescriptions, LOTS of prescriptions. Not once did they ever suggest a food intolerance. I was beginning to think that the only reason a person became a doctor is because they were too damn stupid to be anything else. Now I can finally see...
  2. Brain fog, Brain fog, Brain fog, Brain fog, Brain fog, Brain fog, Brain fog, Brain fog, Brain fog and brain fog. Oh yeah did I mention brain fog also?
  3. It is a Chinese candy made from Hawthorne berries.
  4. I suspect my dad and brother have it also because they have all of the same symptoms I do. However they just don't seem to interested in doing anything about it. My brother's wife is after him to go on a gluten-free diet but that hasn't done any good. All you can do is do what you have to do to be healthy. You can lead someone to knowledge but you can't make...
  5. I went to doazens of doctors and they didn't do a damn thing other than write lots of prescriptions. I had such a dramatic response to the diet and that was good enough. I don't need a doctor to tell me what my body had been telling me for years.
  6. I used to have chronic fatigue and would be so tired it was a major effort to go from the bedroom to the bathroom. I almost lost my job during that time. After two years I have a lot of energy and only need 6-7 hours of sleep. It was a two year process to become fully healthy but it is so worth it. I have a new job that is extremely demanding but I have the...

    ARCHIVED Spell Check?

We're not being graded on spelling or punctuation so there is nothing to be worried about.
  9. Time for a testosterone oriented view of things. I love: Being a man with celiac. There are more women than men with this disease and they are all SMOKIN’ HOT! definitely the best symptom of celiac disease. That I was forced to change everything about myself because of this disease. I was only too happy to send the old me packing. When people c...
  10. I hate: Stupid people. Country and Rap music. No talented hacks who can’t play real music. The old me. That me ex-wife continues to lead a life of bad decisions and habits. I don’t hate her personally but her disintegrating life is not good for our son. Professional sports. I can’t think of a more idiotic pastime than watching a game on TV...
  11. The Atkins diet did the trick for me. There is very little foods allowed with that diet that have gluten in them so it is pretty easy to stay gluten free on it. Portion control is critical for me. I am quite surprised at how little I eat now compared to what I used to eat and I never feel hungry. Exercise is so important. Diet alone will help you lose some...
  12. My son found that one and made it the wallpaper on the computer. When I saw that I knew it was the one for me. I always tell people I am allergic to wheat even though that is technically not what celiac is. Allergy is a word most but not all people can understand. The ones that don't understand can go someplace.
  13. Some people just can't comprehend how a common food can make you sick. My ex-wife saw me go through hell with this and she still doesn't get it. Even with all of the amazingly positive changes I have gone through over the last two years she still doesn't understand celiac. Oh well my girlfriend understands it completely. Some people just can't accept change...
  14. No onions here either. The EPA has to evacuate the neighborhood. Good thing that doesn't happen with Altoids. No where else but Celiac.com can we discuss these things.

ARCHIVED Good News About Bad News

It is the most god-awful meat you could ever imagine. I think it is because they are scavengers and aren't picky. Words cannot describe what those birds taste like.
  17. My ex filed for divorce right around the time I started the gluten free path. I did go through a period of severe depression after I realized that I had wasted the first 36 years of my life because of a food intolerance. This takes time and it will get better if you do what you know you need to do.

    ARCHIVED Post-healing...

I never used to be capable of much physical activity at all. Now I walk, bike and lift weights nearly everyday.
  19. To be proactive and take control of your life and health is hard work. Most people prefer to passively let life happen to them because it is the easy way out. I refuse to waste any energy or time on these kinds of people. I have better things to do.
  20. It will take more than six weeks but the important thing is that you are seeing improvements. It was about two years before I could really say I was healthy and free of the fatigue and brain fog on a consistant basis. You did not get this way overnight and you will not heal overnight. I almost lost my job because of the brain fog but turned things around...
  21. I figured out what the problem was before I even knew there were any tests for celiac. No way I'll ever get tested. Gluten does not touch my lips for any reason.

    ARCHIVED Bananas

No bananas for me at all. My gut can't tolerate them. It is not a pretty sight after I eat one or anything made with bananas. I think it has to do with the high starch and fructose levels.
  23. That is pretty typical. I belong to some other forums and you get a few hardcore users and the rest stay on the sidelines. I never would have made it without this forum.
  24. Because they can't write a prescription for it. No drugs, no kickbacks.
