  1. Other than the weight loss, your experience is almost exactly like mine. I went through Enterolab and am not Celiac but have autoimmune gluten intolerance. I especially identify with the crying for no reason and increased food sensitivities. I am still trying to work my way back into eating dairy after being glutened two weeks ago by Tums! It doesn't take...
  2. My coworker got them for her kids lunches - they are a lot lower in sugar than most things like this but still have a nice sweet taste. Nice to find a delicious healthy treat! Stephanie PS I see you finally got your Sponge Bob av!
  3. My coworker brought this in - she'd got a big pack from Costco, and I was so surprised to be able to eat them. They say wheat free on the pack but on the web they are also listed gluten free, plus casein free. Mrs. Mays Open Original Shared Link They are clustered nuts, sort of like peanut brittle, with some salt and some evaporated cane juice...
  4. Ah, here it is, from another Californian - Open Original Shared Link Stephanie
  5. Hey Michelle - I think I saw it here but someone else posted recently that Yosemite is *very* accomodating about gluten free. Aparantly, you can contact any of the restaurants ahead of time to check but they have some gluten free meals and I think you can even buy Amy's frozen meals at their stores, etc. If I find the post, I'll give you a link. Wish...

    ARCHIVED Stomach Pain

FYI on the gallstones without the gallbladder - from what I've read, gallstones are actually formed in the liver and then collected in the gallbladder. So that's why you'd still get them after the gallbladder is removed. I take supplements for my liver as I have cholesterol problems, food intolerances (obviously! ) and hormone problems, all are signs of...
  7. Oh, cool! Annie's now makes a gluten free mac and cheese!!!! Open Original Shared Link Especially cool that they state it's made in a wheat and gluten free facility! Awesome!!! I hope the pasta is better than DeBoles! I *know* the sauce is! Stephanie
  8. I think I read about someone on this board saying they got sick after using a mac and cheese powder packet but it could be that it's hard to keep cross contamination with all that pasta powder on the packet. I used to love Annie's mac and cheese - I know I've seen on their web site you can order the cheese packets without the pasta. Not cheap though...
  9. I was just up in that area in February. If you go to Moscow, the Moscow Co-Op makes their own gluten free bread twice a week and it flies off the shelves. I think Tues and Sat. I was there on a Sunday so missed out. Can't help with Coeur d'Alene and while we drove from Spokane to Moscow and back, we didn't stop for food. Not much gluten-free to snack...
  10. Tums! Tums are NOT gluten free... blech! Stephanie
  11. Ever since my most recent gluten experience I haven't been able to eat chocolate! It's horrible! It's been two weeks and every time I try chocolate I have the worst indigestion and cramping. I'm pretty mad about this... I think you're right on the protein though. I crave eggs and meat. I think it's in part because those things are heavier and don't pass...
  12. My brother just got engaged to a wonderful woman and I'm really happy for them both. She is Chinese and her family tends to have many meals out at Chinese restaurants (they come in from out of town pretty often) and there will be parties where they rent out a restaurant for the happy couple. It would be great if I could think up one dish that I could...
  13. Hey Michelle - I've heard that for some people sensitive to beef, having buffalo instead is ok. I know this is true of buffalo milk mozeralla for those lactose intolerant. We have been buying ground buffalo at the store for a while now - does not have a gamey taste or anything - almost just like ground beef, but better. And it's a little lower fat, plus...
  14. Lisa - welcome to California! (ok, premature... ) There is one brand mainly of goat milk and it is available in many grocery stores here. It's called Meyenberg and is produced in California. It has a noticiable flavor which you will either like or dislike. I have seen it in the Raleys/Bel Aire/Nob Hill stores (in the health food section usually) and...
  15. Everytime I see my MIL I have to re-explain. She lives 20 mins away and I see her reasonably often. When I get done explaining, she looks at me really concerned and says, each time, "Stephanie, didn't you ever notice before in your life you had these problems?" like this is sort of out of the blue so it must not be true or something. Not exactly putting me...
  16. Also, heart palpitations can occur with hypoglycemia. If you are type 1, you use insulin, right? Have you noticed if the palpitations occur near low blood sugar or a fast drop in blood sugar? I get these, I'm not diabetic nor do I use insulin, my body does more than enough to make sure my blood sugar is low on its own!!! Stephanie
  17. I guess for me it's the opposite. I had years of mental problems *before* I got diagnosed with food problems, and only since being freed of the bad effects am I no longer considered to have psychological issues. At least no more than the average joe. I had been diagnosed as bipolar before and was on meds for years, spent time in special "hospitals" and what...
  18. I, and people close to me, have had many moments of thinking, god, how many food problems can you have? I mean, what does a person eat at some point? I first discovered a food problem 6 years ago, and no thanks to medical science or even the internet, really, when I discovered I get very sick from nightshade vegetables. I can remember even as a teen asking...
  19. Migraine, heartburn, depression, unexplained sobbing, constipation, nausea, flashes of anger, fatigue, saddness, lasts from a week to two weeks. Also variable eating conditions - will feel like crap most of the time but sometimes my stomach will seem almost normal, and all symptoms will subside, until I eat something ungentle (coffee, chocolate, anything...
  20. Mmmmmm, I miss spelt bread. I wish I could still eat it, but that gluten thing... I keep my Food for Life bread in the fridge. No problem there and it separates pretty well. It's just a high moisture bread so that's why it sticks. I like the China Black and the Red Bhutanese ones, also the Millet. I have decided I really like the EnerG Light Tapioca...
  21. A good way to be sure of your eggs is to get them poached. For a while now I have been wondering about the mix some places use for omlettes and scrambles. A friend of mine said some places he'd worked just had the mix, they don't actually crack 3 eggs and blend them up - saves time. I have not been able to find any info online about this, and if it would...
  22. Hey Merika - Well, I always have had an aversion to citric acid in products but I didn't get started on it until someone on another forum mentioned it could be fermented with wheat. Then I found the organism. I forgot about it until my dad had the allergic reaction and I looked it up, to see if it was related to penecillin (I know he has that allergy...

    ARCHIVED Lab Results

I think the rheumy I went and saw is pretty cool. I only have seen him once so far but he knew a lot of stuff about gluten even, which surprised me. I am seeing him again on August 5th so I should have some more info to work with there. Believe me I scared myself sh*tless worrying about scleroderma but I don't think that's what I have going on. I have...
  24. I think bad PR is the way to go. I'm a marketing person, so I know all about what PR does to a business. Places with no-substitution rules are a pain. But I think most restaurants (and bars) usually have a "right to refuse service" policy, and maybe they could use that to back up their side. I've seen those signs hanging up in restaurants before. Bad...
  25. Actually, this has me thinking. I think my Raynaud's went away when I stopped eating nightshades. I stopped them because I realized they were causing a toxic reaction in me and I was getting very sick from them - had my whole life. (Nightshades are potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, tobacco, kava kava). I would get migraines and stomach problems. There...
