And here is another: (notice, with this method, it won't tell you what date the post you quoted was from, but I am sure you could add it with the name if you want Ok,I just tinkering around, computer savvy NOT!LOL But I couldn't get into the reply box(after the copy business)by clicking 'Add Reply'-I had to hit 'Reply' and then delete the whole of your...
  3. In the U.K you are only eligable for prescription foods from your G.P if you have had a 'formal' diagnosis of celiac disease from a gastro doc (usually biopsy proven). I suppose if you registered with a G.P whilst in U.K you might get them-I'm not sure Hope you have a good trip!

Ok, I know how to do just one quote (by clicking reply bottom righthand corner) but how do you quote several different people in a reply? Thanks
  5. Rachel, I've been following your progress and I'm glad to see things have picked up for you and that you've put some weight on-and that you can tolerate a little dairy!! Hope your progress (and all others) continues
  6. Glad she had a good day. Wishing you all the best for her surgery in the summer
  7. I think she meant corn
  8. It works ok for me and I'm on a home computer. Do you have Adobe Acrobat on your P.C to read PDF files?
  9. Oh my goodness ,all slimy and wriggly-and pink!!!
  10. Yep,that's basically it. If your antibody levels have gone down, thenthere's no gluten triggering the antibody reaction in your body. Think you can give yourself a pat on the back!
  11. With you on the worm thing !
  12. I have a jar of xanthan gum.On the side it says ''Xanthan Gum naturally occurs in the fementation of cabbage and made industrially is used to mimic the effects of gluten in baking and cooking'' It doesn't mention any starches added,so I don't know if it's got corn in it. I find with baking unfortunately that I better result if I add xanthan gum as...
  13. celiac disease can go with a whole plethora of skin complaints (and aggravate them) My husband had psoriasis before going G.F and since going G.F myself I have found that my eczema has got alot better.
  14. How long have you been G.F?Could anything you ate have been 'cross contaminated'? Do you still eat milk products? It took my husband a year or more G.F for the diarrhea to stop (still gets it sometimes) Anything that has been cross contaminated will also trigger 'D'. Finally ,alot of coeliacs find they can't tolerate any milk or dairy products...
  15. At last, cut the grass!LOL I love the first cut of the year-it's only gonna get warmer!(can't stop sneezing though ) I've got some (oriental)lillies to put in too. Happy Gardener.
  16. LOL!Ah donuts,I miss em! You probably know this already, but if you think you might be a coeliac you need to also avoid barley, rye and oats as well as wheat. Welcometo the board BTW!
  17. Absolutely! The longer you are on the G.F diet the more you experiment (trying different flours etc). There's so many good things to eat G.F,that you don't need to miss it. G.F can be inconvenient when you're out and you try to eat off the cuff-but with planning your taste buds shouldn't be neglected. I've made some pretty good cakes and discovered...
  18. Durum wheat pasta?
  19. My husband's feet and ankles used to swell up so much he couldn't get shoes on-he could only wear sandals.-but he was very skinny everywhere else. His feet also used to be a funny purple colour. If you pushed your finger into his swollen feet it used to leave a white indentation, suggesting it was water retention. No doctor ever gave him an explanation for...
  20. Hubbie (who has celiac disease )used to suffer constantly from 'night sweats' (so bad he would have change his top),but also suffered from chills ,when everyone else in the house was hot. It's like his thermostat went haywire. These symptoms went away after a couple of months G.F. My husband also found it hard to eat adequate amounts. He had a sore mouth...
  21. Here's one link, but I think more research is needed.ht tp://www.webmd.com/content/Article/82/97278.htm Sorry that link didn't work, but if you google schizophrenia linked to celiac you will come up with many interesting articles, but I think it only turns outthat a very small percent that have schizophrenia actually have celiac disease.
  22. Before dx I had to throw away a few of my hubbies T-Shirts and quilt covers. Where he had sweat,it used to completely take the colour out of the material-like when you spill bleach. Toxic sweat! He also used to urinate very frequently before going G.F.It makes sense that the body was trying to 'flush' the toxin out. He also had a peculiar smell about...
  23. Well yes,I have thought 'Could I be a coeliac too-maybe I was a silent coeliac.' However,as I'm gluten-free now,no point in going for blood tests and in my experience even when you're seriously ill (as hubbie was)it's the last thing doctors want to do/look for. If I had the money,I would be really interested in getting the gene test though!
  24. Interesting as well that we(non coeliacs) only started to feel these adverse affects after we were low gluten/G.F. No effects at all when I ate high amounts of gluten everyday.
  25. Oh crumbs!-G.F of course. Didn't know that about the tongue tingly thing. I might add that my eczema is markedly improved post G.F. Wonder if my hayfever will be as severe this year?
