ARCHIVED Lost A Parent To Celiac
IrishHeart replied to dani nero's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The last I heard from Laura (Rosetapper) it was actually from her daughter. She was writing to me via her email, telling me Laura had broken her arm and could not type a reply to me. . I sent well wishes, but have not heard from her lately. Hopefully, she will let us know how she is doing. Laura is a loving, giving person and she has been courageous... -

ARCHIVED Doctor Officially Diagnosed Me With Celiac Without Telling Me!
IrishHeart replied to greenbeanie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
"Diagnostic" codes are used in this country for insurance purposes--- not for actually diagnosing someone. They have to put something on the form to justify their time with you as well as reasons for running tests. I've seen all kinds of codes on my insurance forms (from Crohn's to thyroid disease to Ulcerative colitis--but I have none of those) while... -

We Need To Start A Thread On Stupid Stuff Doctors Say!
IrishHeart replied to mushroom's topic in Doctors
That was Mushroom's intent when starting this thread so long ago. She had her share of "stupid" and she felt we could share our stories of stupid too and commiserate and maybe laugh it off. We have to laugh about it........ otherwise, our heads will explode. And, any doctor who implies you are "calling wolf" or blaming your health decline on "stress... -
I just love love love lavendar. It makes me feel relaxed. and happy

then that mushroom is all the more special yes, you want to use your herbs before they flower. However, the chives will still have flavor even after that purple flower comes. They are hardy littler suckers, I'll tell ya! My Dad dug up a clump for me, drove it across Mass &, put it in my garden in 1987. (that was 2 yards ago) I split and moved...

ARCHIVED Disney Thinks Bullying A Gluten-Free Kid Is Funny
IrishHeart replied to carisima's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I had my say about this on the GDude's site, but I'll say it here too. I simply do not find the humiliation of any child funny (whether it's his allergies, celiac, glasses, whatever) The clips I saw depicted two adults and two children mocking this kid and throwing food at him. That's not funny. (and I have a gigantic sense of humor) Yes,... -

				ARCHIVED Happy Spring, Fellow Gardeners!
IrishHeart replied to notme's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Nope, not a weed (if they were I'd have a problem on my hands ) but they tend to grow in prairie lands, so it's quite possible that is what you saw! They are a member of the carrot family. . -

Peonies ready to pop here, too! Irises getting ready and a quirky perennial called zizea auria also beginning to bloom. Open Original Shared Link Everything I planted, I had butterflies and hummingbirds in mind. This is when I miss my Dad the most. We used to call and have a contest about whose plants were opening first. I have a patch... -
I've got a crop of mushrooms in my wet backyard right now and I said to the hubs.."look, that's Shroom saying hello, IH". Made me fill up but also made me smile, thinking of how she touched my life in such a positive way. And when I see the bunnies play every afternoon, I think of how she scolded me about how destructive they were and they should be shot...

ARCHIVED Lost A Parent To Celiac
IrishHeart replied to dani nero's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Dani and yes, of course we remember you, hon and I am glad to hear you are feeling better. So sorry to hear about your Mom. My heartfelt condolences to you. My Dad had kidney disease, tanked hemaocrits requiring hundreds of blood transfusions for many years and a whole slew of GI issues, h.pylori, etc. and he had a heart valve replaced.... -

ARCHIVED Should I Go To A New Gi?
IrishHeart replied to nineof9's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Listen to this woman! She is speaking the truth. Honestly, I would have given you the same exact response and I will add: there is no better test of a gluten intolerance than the recurrence of symptoms you report while consuming it. Give up the gluten and feel --in your words--AMAZING! again, but not before you have sought a second opinion. ...
