  1. Welcome to the chat! We are not crazy on here, We are not crazy on here. We are not crazy on here. (if we repeat it often enough, we believe it ) Some of us (meaning me) call them "encores"..not leftovers....as in, it is so good, you want an "encore"....okay, that's probably only funny to me. Anyhoo... YO SKI! I am making your quickie baked...
  2. I think you are very sweet to be so concerned, (hey, I cry at the sight of road kill, so I get it) but Karen is right. It is likely the bird was rescuing it and I am sure they were both fine. Crows are obnoxious.Loud and rude....and I shoo them off all the time.
  3. I have bouts with shin splints from time to time. Most recently, it occurred after I had been carrying heavy things up the flight of stairs from the basement. I did this repeatedly over the course of an hour (we were spring cleaning) It hurt like hell. Really bad. The PT/MT that I see told me to ice the area-as in rub an ice cube briskly over the area...
  4. Agreed. Serum protein electrophoresis is most often done to screen for a disease such as Open Original Shared Link, Open Original Shared Link, orOpen Original Shared Link. Not sure why would someone with leg pain would request these tests .
  5. EXACTLY!!!! well said, MW. Gene tests are not the" be all, end all" They are not "diagnostic" of celiac either. Many people have the genes, but never trigger with celiac. In the end, you are the only one who can determine what's best. If gluten makes you sick,well......... DO NOT EAT IT. Eggs make me sick (not baked IN things, just eggs baked...
  6. 90 lbs. Not trying to lose weight at all It was just malabsorption and an inability to hold food in and no appetite from a burning GI tract. Took 3 years before I was Dxed.
  7. I read it at both my Dad's service and a good friend's memorial service and I should have given the credit to the author. I first heard it on television and looked it up because I found it to be quite beautiful and apropos for someone who is a" force of nature" like Neroli. It is adapted (rather liberally) from A Parable of Immortality, by Henry...
  8. if you mean me, I was not giggling AT you, but with you. I, too was gleeful to see them sprouting in my yard. I said "Look, J....there's Shroomie saying hi!" So, LOVE2 and Addy--the MT grows orange mint in her yard--tons of it--and she said "you can have some of mine!" and then she said, and take some jalapenos too!! I used one of hers last...
  9. they did have the orange mint available...I should have grabbed on of those, too.....may swing by later. thanks
  10. it does, darlin...it does. I suspect I will learn how to use it for cooking..I know it will be a great tea.
  11. In a word? NO. IMHO and based on pages and pages of research I have read for 2.5 years. either you have Celiac an autoimmune disease which is incurable, but treatable! or a serious non-celiac gluten intolerance (requiring abstinence to feel well ) or you don't.
  12. Yo Addy! I planted my usual annual herbs along with my tomatoes, chard and lettuces....but added the following in your honor: chocolate mint pineapple mint the cat still has her catmint, which comes back every year
  13. She said she is done eating gluten and feels better and does not want to continue. She had a horrible time with the gluten challenge. I can’t go through another 2 weeks (much less *8* weeks) of gluten hell. I just can’t do it.
  14. Well, sweet girl....this just hit home because this was my father's credo...about anything in life that gave me a challenge and a disappointment....and he was correct. now, when someone talks to us on here about being glutened and feeling crappy, I say it, rather "tongue in cheek"..that "THIS too shall Pass". literally and figuratively. Bottom line...
  15. Lactose intolerance is temporary for the majority of celiacs. Lactase, which is the enzyme that breaks down the sugar lactose, is produced in the tip of the villi. When the villi get blunted in celiac disease, sometimes the ability to digest lactose is decreased and you can become lactose intolerant. This may cause bloating, stomach cramps, diarrhea...
  16. Welcome to the family! May I direct you to: (1) this thread for newbies--please read it--lots of good info there (some lady I know wrote it ) http://www.celiac.co...ewbie-info-101/ and (2) I recommend: "Find Me Gluten Free" for dining out and (3) I also HIGHLY recommend this must-read book: Real Life with Celiac...
  17. We know, chill...... we know. No worries, hon
  18. I think you have celiac--they can call it "early" if they want, but does that equate to "early stages of pregnancy"? It's still a done deal. I can link you to what celaic experts say about "early celiac" if you want. You do not want to know what "late stage celiac" is. It is dead woman walking ugly. I want to know what the MARSH scale says?? (ask...
