  1. If you have been diagnosed with h. pylori infection, you may want to be treated by a doctor for that. I know none of us like to take medications, especially antibiotics, but it is nothing to mess around with. Open Original Shared Link You can always take probiotics to replenish. My father had a nasty bout with that --and it made him quite...
  2. me, too. TTO is like battery acid on me. Someone suggested it for my peeling scalp and sores (before DX) and O M G! I couldn't get it off fast enough. In fact, it was resistant to removal with shampoo, etc. and took me several washings. UGH! and anything with MENTHOL--OUCH!!! I have never had a problem with vaseline, however.
  3. this lady has a theory Open Original Shared Link I think the theory about redheads came in part from the large number of Celtic people with celiac. The largest concentration of celiacs with DQ2 genes, I believe, are in Western Ireland. I have olive skin and freckles, dark brown, almost black hair that was more reddish when I was younger. ...
  4. Dr. William Gusten at Saratoga-Schenectagy Gastro. Offices in Burnt Hills as well. very celiac-savvy, thorough, compassionate and patient-friendly. I love this guy. I highly recommend him to members (and to anyone I meet at celiac disease groups ) just as he was recommended to me when I asked the same question you did! PM me if you need more info...
  5. Next time, try this "Oh gosh, no!!....it tastes like a sweaty sock dragged through dog poo, ....but (now, pause, heave a heavy sigh and put your hand to your brow dramatically ) it's the cross I bear." Work up a tear if you can. If they say "Oh poor dear. Is there anything we can do?" Say, "wash my car, do all my paperwork and give...
  6. Barry, I wish you the best. I hope you will give the gluten-free diet a good strict trial so you can see if you feel better! Cheers to you, IH
  7. I have to interject here now, because I do not think anyone was telling her she "MUST have lymphoma". What WAS said is that refractory sprue can be caused by many things---and the list includes lymphoma--as well as other causes. No one is trying to diagnose anyone from what I have read here. Nor should any of us say what we BELIEVE it is CAUSED by...
  8. Sorry, kiddo---that's always one of my first signs--I call it Gluten Head hell.
  9. If it matters to your doctor, My GI doc thinks they are especially good because of the lactobacillis strain. "Lactobacillus GG was discovered in 1985 at Tufts University in Boston, MA by Dr. Sherwood H. Gorbach and Dr. Barry R. Goldin. Considered to be the premier probiotic in the world, Lactobacillus GG has been the subject of more than 400 scientific...
  10. Sweetie, I ate a big bowl of pasta and homemade meatballs last night. Delicious! Wheat pasta is not the only pasta in the world. Not one person I know who is a WE (wheat eater) can tell the difference when eating rice or corn pasta. You have got to look at this gluten-free diet as an answer to your health problems, not a death sentence! We all...
  11. I was once a fatty myself--from all that gluteny wheat--but getting celiac took care of that. I was almost skeletal for a while there. I did not mean to be flippant about obesity (before anyone gets upset with me )I was merely trying to give our Kimbaloo something to "go to" in her head ---something amusing---so she does not take all this to heart...
  12. Being a "mutt" myself, my Dad said we made the best and prettiest pets.
  13. It could very well be that low levels are causing the problems now. However, since other food intolerances (mentioned in the pub med info) can also be causing this villous blunting, this seems to be a very wise path to take: food journaling and elimination. (I only offered the information as explanation for why the villi might be blunted again--as she tells...
  14. Yes, good idea to start a new thread and see if people know any more about this. I have seen a few posts but not collected in one thread.
  15. No, I meant avoid THOSE BOTTLES WITH WHEAT in them. Maybe I was unclear--sorry, I'll edit my post for clarify. I was giving an example of what it would say if it had soy sauce in it, which almost always has wheat in it. If you want a wheat-free soy sauce, use SanJ Tamari gluten-free . 16. fantastic! progress--in any form--is cause for celebration!xxooIH
  17. Maybe annoying is a strong word , but my family does not listen. I wrote a letter to them all (over 50 relatives), provided information about gluten intolerance and celiac, and they know how this thing tried to kill me for several years, yet they do not listen. Only my Mom went gluten-free. She feels great! That is the beauty of such threads, Dani-...
  18. You are obviously tolerating dairy again, yes LOVEY?? Good for you
  19. Karen said what I was going to say. There is no set time frame for recovery. Some people feel great at 6 months, some take years. Stay on gluten for testing, otherwise, you'll get unreliable and invalid results. (is there an echo in here? ) It is hard to stay patient when you feel so lousy (believe me, I know!) but it gets better...
  20. Dressings that have soy sauce in them will indicate (wheat, soybeans) in the ingredients list. So, you will have to avoid those bottles with wheat-filled soy sauce.
  21. The more important question is....Do YOU think it's all in your head? Does it happen when you eat other foods? But, no,to answer you-- I don't think it's "all in your head." That is something many of us heard --or had implied to us--for years. That we would make this stuff up. I finally said to someone "How do you "make up" hair loss, 90 lbs. weight...
  22. Just imagine her growing fat arse from that cookie and laugh to yourself. I have 4 friends who are nurses (3 women and 1 man). They are very giving and intelligent people, but totally unaware of celiac and no matter how hard I try to explain it, it just does not register. 3 of them are gluten intolerant themselves and have OBVIOUS symptoms, but won...
  23. In fact, bed-wetting IS listed as a symptom of gluten intolerance. I would awaken almost every night as a kid, calling to my Dad to walk me to the bathroom (my poor Dad--they should have just invested in a night light !) When I was in real trouble before my DX, I got up several times a night, banging off the walls on my way to the bathroom and back...
  24. It's just the delirium from not being in GLUTEN HEAD HELL anymore. Seriously, my symptoms were not mostly neurological. Those just manifested LAST and were the WORST. They were symptoms of the blood system, cardiovascular system, digestive, dermatological, and integumentary systems, musculoskeletal, gynecological/reproductive, metabolic, pulmonary...
