  1. oh yes.. and I walked sideways and banged into walls (had so many bruises) also, I had vertigo, blurry vision and I was hallucinating at times (I never told any one that until another celiac and I discussed it recently-- because I did not want anyone to think I was nuts--- but once she said it, I said YUP, me too) I felt like things were...
  2. A positive lab test is positive for celiac and your symptoms speak VOLUMES. More importantly, how you feel taking gluten OUT is even more indicative of what's really going on. If you did not have a gluten problem, removing it wouldn't have changed a damn thing. I know I said this already, but avoid dairy at first and take probiotics for optimal...
  3. Well, that's the first time I ever saw my name in a THREAD TITLE!! (Ma, look, I made the Headlines!! ) Oh hon! I am so happy for you. To wake up and NOT feel sick--is AWESOME How the hell is that psychosomatic?? Don't listen to nay-sayers. You know your body best! AND you can now do the "I told you so dance" for the doctor who...
  4. I had this myself and virtually all those symptoms have disappeared after I went gluten-free. It took me several months for those and the other neurological symptoms to improve/lessen. They are pretty scary symptoms for sure. There are several threads on here that discuss gluten ataxia. Lots of us have suffered these symptoms. Look under "related...
  5. oh boy .....Well, if giving up food were the "only thing" that happened to us because of celiac, this would be no "big deal. Hey, you could say "well, that's a self-inflicted VOLUNTARY "offering" you make for a religious reason so you can feel good about yourself --which ENDS in 6 weeks. You know it ends!!--so how hard is this exactly??" And...
  6. WATER, WATER, WATER -- that is the key to getting bowels moving (celiacs are dehydrated) and PROBIOTICS Give your system some time to straighten out. Fibrous vegetables. Dairy could also be contributing to your problem, but most people experience D, bloating and nausea instead of C from a lactose problem. Many take dairy out...
  7. Hey, thanks for this tip--my Mom was looking for these! Karen was right; even if the chef never comes back, we are seeing what people miss and pointing them towards the recipes and products. cool beans
  8. Not sure either. I was twice your age at SEVERE symptoms onset, but can attribute my lifelong health problems to this disease. I pray I do not have refractory sprue. My doc says I need more time to heal but sometimes I wonder....
  9. Probiotics are a must for celiac guts. Open Original Shared Link Custom Probiotics are a very good product (and he will talk to you on the phone as well.) They provide a broad spectrum of beneficial flora. Open Original Shared Link OTC Culturelle work very well, too. My GI doctor recommends this one because it is backed by clinical research...
  10. I hear you. All those for me too ---AND an lyme disease specialist and environmental allergist. Tongue burning can be caused by many things, I have read. Hormonal shifts, allergies and intolerances, yeast infections, inflammation and vitamin deficiencies. The best part is.... anyone who had it tells me it went away after a while gluten-free...
  11. It is interesting (and perplexing) though, that so many others report to us that they have LESS of a reaction with an accidental glutening, the longer they are off gluten and healed. As opposed to becoming MORE sensitive. A day or so of minor symptoms and they rebound. (That would be nice )I take forever.
  12. We hope they are not permanent. Time will tell. I am not one to give up. My doc says this was a "healing year" --as is next year, and the year after that, and the year after that .... I said "great, I'll be a healthy old broad!" It is hard to think ahead--but it is true that we improve each year! Healing takes time, but symptoms reverse and you...
  13. Me, too. I was being "restrained" on here. Yes, ditto for me--coconut milk to the rescue.
  14. You bet! Hope it helps.
  15. This is nearly the same thing I have said about celiac. I know some people are skeptical that gluten can cause the massive damage it did to my body and brain--the years I lost---yet, here I am. If I had not lived it, (and met others who also suffered the more peculiar and devastating symptoms of celiac that I had) I would find it difficult to believe...
  16. Agree completely. Some of us had what I call "smoldering celiac" all of our lives and recovery is s-l-o-w. And sometimes, we are just getting "older". Things we could eat with reckless abandon just do not agree with us anymore. I don't necessarily like that I have to add that variable, but there it is.
  17. I was left unDXed for so long, but have been gluten-free for a year. It is MUCH better, but not gone yet. I have faith.
  18. My sympathies on your loss. I had a similar triggering event, although I had symptoms most of my life, in retrospect. My Dad's death 4 few years ago just put me over the edge. I met a man in his 50's at the local gluten-free cafe who told me he had failure to thrive as a child. They had his parents do a gluten-free diet (not easy in the 60's and his Mom...
  19. Mine burns and feels tingly. since 2008
  20. I am not doubting you had a reaction of some kind, but I doubt it is from gluten in the juice, Josh. I am thinking that maybe, like me, you are discovering that "artificial flavors and colors" may be causing you grief. Hope you feel better soon.
  21. I hope you get some answers and some relief soon. I know Raven's nerve stuff finally resolved after a while. She made me feel encouraged when she told me that. Others told me they had "burning" in their faces, hands, feet, trunk and it disappeared. I know how frustrating all this can be though when it lingers so long. The thing is, there is...
  22. I have burning nerve pain, muscle wasting and weakness, and body-wide parasthesia and have had brain, C-spine and lumbar spine MRIs, EMGs on my legs and arms, and I have been examined by various neuros, rheumies, spine specialists and their conclusion is...."no clue". It is NOT MS. That one they know. (as I have a cousin with MS, I was concerned) My...
  23. It is my understanding that 3 weeks may not be sufficient time for gluten loading, to get an accurate test result ?? but maybe someone else can offer you their thoughts on what worked for them. I think most people say the equivalent of 4 pieces of bread a day for 3 months-- for a valid biopsy, but blood work may be different. (can you imagine making...
  24. Interesting ! My doctor speculated my recent reversal of being able to tolerate dairy came on the heels of the accidental glutening I told you about. (I had kept it out the first 9 months gluten-free and then, I had introduced it just fine)I was doing all right....and then, I wasn't. Makes sense. Maybe dairy and I can be friends once more someday...
  25. It is possible to be experiencing menopausal (or even peri-menopausal symptoms) and still be a celiac. Many GYN issues are associated with celiac (I had plenty, including multiple miscarriages, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, fibroids, etc. ) I had all the hot flashes, (more like hot drenches ) insomnia, migraines, heavy bleeding and prolonged...
