  1. There is nothing quite like fresh, is there? It sounds yummy! We get chicken, pork and beef from the local farms sometimes and of course, it is far better than store bought stuff. A Brazilian store, eh---not sure we have one of those around, but I will check. That tap starch price is awesome!
  2. Yeah, that's what we are all thinking. Sweetie, your idea of "boring, dull and lifeless" is 5- star dining for some people who may have no culinary skills or access to specialty foods. They do not find anything you post "dull", I am sure. They mostly just want to come live with you. Have a good trip!!!
  3. Your hair should grow back! I lost a ton of hair, too. It is starting to grow back in and thicken up. It's from malabsorption and vitamin deficiencies. Make sure you have your thyroid levels checked, too, okay? I do not know how ill you were before DX, but "forever doing squats" may not be the best thing for you right now. Your muscles may need some...
  4. I understand! I missed cheese more than I missed gluten! I asked my doc "what's up with the lactose? Why can some people put it back in their diets without trouble a few months after their villi heal?" He said "You answered your own question---your villi are not healed yet. You're going to take a while" ah. I was DXed late in life. I can tolerate some dairy...
  5. Okay, now we are doing what's called "thread-hijacking" and it means we are going waaaaaay off the original topic and it's unfair to the original poster (OP). But since we did it WITH you, we'll let it slide this time. okay....back to the basic issue: Sweet Baby Ray's is SAFE!! BBQ frenzy may commence! And really, find some way to...
  6. You mean I haven't overloaded you with info YET? I have to work harder at that then.
  7. Good girl indeed! okay, this is sooo weird, but when I was very, very ill back in 2009, all I wanted was Twizzlers and Sun Chips. I ate that crap by the bag full and I was sick every minute. I had NO idea that licorice contained gluten before all this. I was actually craving it. I could not eat anything or keep it in, but I wanted Twizzlers. Dumb. Hubs thought...
  8. Oh boy. Trust me, you do not want to be the "don't picture". You may want to follow the KISS idea --you know, "keep it simple"--if you want to be taken seriously as a contributor. Interior monologues are too difficult to follow as is stream-of-consciousness writing. (I read James Joyce's Ulysses already and had to teach it to students who loathed...
  9. Oh, thank you for saying this, Sky! I feel like sometimes I am the lone voice crying in the wilderness about probiotics. And for telling it like it is. Always refreshing. I wonder---would another source of Omega 3 EFAs work as well --if someone cannot tolerate fish oil?
  10. Perfect! Sky is echoing some things we have talked about in your other thread about Prilosec. and explaining what I said in the PM about my own low stomach acid and pancreatic insufficiency. (She may not have seen that other thread ). And, she is reinforcing Exactly what you and I have discussed--and Sylark is extremely celiac/gluten savvy...
  11. Malabsorption occurs in other conditions besides Celiac, but J has done well off gluten and reacts pretty violently when glutened --as you have reported. It arises from other conditions, among them: Whipple's Disease Tropical sprue Crohn's disease Short gut syndrome AIDS Eosinophilic gastroenteritis Gut surgeries Here: Open...
  12. That's because it is found under Ken's Foods. The parent company. Open Original Shared Link Their Gluten Statement states: "List of Products in Retail that do NOT have Gluten present in their recipes"..... (and there is a long list) concluding with: "All Sweet Baby Rays Barbeque Sauces have NO Gluten present in the recipes." ...
  13. Just so you know, you are replying to a post that is old---(Dec. 2010) and the person may not see your reply.
  14. True, true. In fact, a Celiac DX is sometimes a new beginning and a welcome relief. For me --and for so many others who had been living in gluten-induced hell for YEARS-- it was an answer to many puzzling and debilitating symptoms. Gluten free living is a breeze compared to that horror. PS.. And that piece of cake looks awesome...
  15. My Creamy Red Bell Pepper Soup & Hub's homemade bread and my major dairy indulgence, thick creamy Irish Butter.
  16. Just beautiful, Simona! and thank you for sharing all your recipes and pictures with us!
  17. You may find some information here? It is a collection of articles on gluten and neuro symptoms. Just FYI. Not sure if it answers the question regarding low tTg but supports the neuro-gluten connection. Open Original Shared Link
  18. We have made amaranth pancakes that tasted pretty good! Tell me if you want the recipe and I'll scan it for you!
  19. You DID!? My paternal grandparents came from Armenia! I don't wish to hijack the thread --so maybe you'll tell me about it via PM sometime, J! I'd love to hear about it!
  20. Do you just wanna say "waaaaa, poor you!" and then play a tiny fiddle on your fingers?
  21. Another good one is to steep several bay leaves in hot water to make tea. An Italian Grandma of a friend taught me that one. It is tasty and settles the tummy.
  22. mmmm.. I admit it---I like the Cape Codders too! Forgot to mention those! That is all they make in that little factory, so I feel pretty confident they are about as gluten-free as it gets!
  23. It takes time. Everyone is different. If you are newly DXed, you may wish to cut out dairy as it is often a secondary (and hopefully, temporary) intolerance and causes bloating, among other symptoms. Try that before you start cutting out all kinds of foods. Best wishes!
  24. Y M B a C if you look forward to reading funny new posts on C.com
