  1. really? because I have never noticed that and I comparison shop all the time. Anything in particular you have noticed..so I can look out for it? thanks!
  2. Sorry, but a "Gluten free menu" does NOT equate with "safely prepared for a celiac" and an app is not a guarantee. (i was burned once or twice this way and learned valuable lessons) Preparation, kitchen practices, understanding of CC---- is key.
  3. ama zon prime, nuts.com, honeyville for almond flour...I do a bit of it, yes. But I just moved and there is a Whole Foods nearby. Yaay!
  4. I am not offended, Cynthia. I am concerned for you, that's all. An endo is the best resource for hypoglycemia and thyroid issues. Best wishes!
  5. Hon, I am sorry, I have looked and looked, but I cannot find any Pub Med, scientific or informational research that corroborates any " gene that predisposes to non-celiac gluten sensitivity" But this does not exclude a NCGS diagnosis.!..if gluten makes you sick, you have a gluten intolerance and should stay gluten-free. IMHO ( I am not...
  6. "Sick" is one thing. I know that feeling because I get it from some preservatives, additives and high histamine foods but it has nothing to do with gluten. "No autoimmune attack" means--- what exactly? IMHO it is not gluten.. Maybe it feels similar and I am sorry you feel bad, but we like to provide accurate info especially on brand names, so...what...
  7. This is simply not true. Would you kindly show me the evidence (scientific, chemical, any study that was peer-reviewed??) that "numerous additives" in bacon are "similar to gluten" and can "cause the similar symptoms" Anecdotal evidence..is not proof and we do not want any new reader to think bacon has gluten in it. (It doesn't) I have a problem...
  8. I guess my suggestion that you see an endocrinologist was completely disregarded? oh well, I tried. Best wishes!
  9. Current guidelines for detecting undiagnosed celiac disease (celiac disease) are inadequate for widespread celiac disease screening, according to results from a study published online January 13 wow, really? No kidding. but wouldn't it be great if we could actually READ this article??
  10. If you have issues with hypoglycemia and the thyroid, you should be seeing an endocrinologist who specializes in these organs and body systems. Every alternative medicine practitioner I have ever met--and that's a few dozen!--thinks people have "adrenal fatigue".
  11. There are no tests for diagnosing celiac disease using saliva (except those done for genetic testing.) at this time. ( but I think they are working on that one.) "Salivary antibodies to gliadin lack sensitivity and specificity for celiac disease." That's according to Dr. Murray, a leading celiac researcher. But as you probably know, just having the...
  12. The weather forecasters are part of this "panic". How many times does the "Go get extra supplies!", "stay off the roads! It's gonna be a Nor'Easter!" have we heard through the years. People would buy out the shelves...and stack the wood and get ready..and NOTHING. happened. It's the "cry wolf" syndrome, so when things like Sandy hit, people are shrugging...
  13. I would soooo eat his portion! But not right now. I'm still torturing myself with this paleo thinger. cake? I don't have any cake. I love cake. I've got a mixed salad greens with pork roast and some coconut "Ice Cream". .............mumbling.....people are eating quesadillas and crackers and cheese and chocolate cake in here....
  14. I agree. Yoga, walking, weight-bearing exercise of any kind, lifting weights, swimming, riding a bike....any kind of movement...these all effectively keep the horrible pain I once had down to "non-screaming level". I also highly recommend massage. The muscles around those joints are all tighter than heck and have trigger points in them (hyper-irritable...
  15. I believe I just told you this in a PM exchange, but I will restate it here for other readers who may have the same question: I do not have red swollen joints like in RA. I have OA and osteoarthtiris does not cause red swelling in joints like RA does, but my knees are pretty big and my hands have obvious knobs on them (much to my dismay) . Inflammation...
  16. Addy Don't those tomatoes cause histamine symptoms for you? (if not, mazeltov!). They would make me burst into flames. Bunless burgers with sauteed onions, sweet potato fries, gluten-free beer for the hubs. We like watching the playoffs and this is football food
  17. Barty, eggs are not a HH food, sweets, at least not according to the Allergy UK lists. Raw egg white is a histamine liberator, but who eats those? LOL Enjoy! And if you are only eating cheddar and all those other foods...the same ones all the time?--well, I am not sure you are flooding your system with histamine at all. But an antihistamine...
  18. Diana, If you do indeed have a brain injury or MS, there absolutely IS a different treatment protocol. And you should find out if it is either of those so you can be treated properly.. Sometimes, we get symptoms or conditions that other people without celiac also get. I am not trying to be difficult here, but not everything (eyes shaking, hair...
  19. I share your position as a "curiosity" amongst the medical pros....not sure if I feel special, weird, or pissed off.
  20. Those creeping ice walls remind me of lava. I have seen them on the news in previous years, but it is always pretty amazing to see them again. BRRR and holy crap...can you imagine a wall of ice coming at your house? me neither. It's been pouring rain for 2 days here in south Florida. Massive flooding and a possible tornado touched down about 1...
  21. But, I am not sure how you can tell the difference, honestly. Pain is pain, intermittent or constant. I know, I live with it. I put my game face on often so my wonderful husband does not have to worry about me. It has gotten much better since my diagnosis, but left untreated for a lifetime, some things may be irreversible. I have OA and connective tissue...
  22. I think we may be looking at it right here The Low Histamine Chef has good stuff!
  23. JUMP! JUMP! LOL We love bold types. And dinner sounds FAB!!
  24. My Doc --who has put me through enough testing and spares me anything further unless TOTALLY necessary just said this "Obviously, you have HIT and some sort of mast cell dysregulation".... Does that count as a clinical DX? It does for me. I am done with testing at this point. I just had the really fun follow up endo/colono with biopsies a few months...
  25. I have had some weird ups and downs, One week full of energy. this week, er..not to much. I watched Downton on Sunday...that was fun! and yes, I shifted my focus to more books too. And more recipes and .. choosing furniture for the house. Hang in there. PS I think my hips and knees and legs feel better, too.
