  1. it's birthday apple pie and champagne, sweets... and TY xxoo "Stay home cosy"--that sounds perfect. (hope the storm is not too bad) Guess what we are having today? Bacon!! naw, just kidding. A traditional thanksgiving dinner and tomorrow...yes, encores. Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!
  2. Glad to hear this news, Skidoodle..!!.I am thankful for the exact same thing, hon! Blessings to you --and to all who read this dinner chat thread...and Happy Thanksgiving!
  3. Addy, where exactly "back east" is chicken and waffles a "thing".? I grew up In Boston and I never ate that once. Do you mean someplace a bit farther south, southeast perhaps? I am sure it is tasty??!!!.
  4. Sorry, sweets ((hugs)) DH is awesome for taking care of your dinner!! KUDOS for still retaining your sense of humor while glutened. Not easy, is it? And celiac--it ain't for sissies. Hope you feel well soon---and enjoy your next serving of bacon.
  5. Didn't you tell me your daughter brought home BACON flavored candy canes? Dinner tonight is stuffed peppers, but I feel compelled to drape bacon over the top for some reason........
  6. with poems like "Shall I compare thee to a Slab of bacon?" Yowzers and ditto. And if he knows how to make a BLT....and bring home the bacon.......well, you're all set, Bunz.
  7. You could write a bacon cookbook. I admit to having a can in the freezer, like my Mom does. I also admit to making our eggs in the bacon grease like my Mom does. Mom is 86 and healthy as a horse, works out at a gym 3X a week and walks 2 miles without huffing and puffing, therefore I conclude bacon is good for us.
  8. cheering.....Eat more bacon! eat more bacon!
  9. I know that you know what I meant. and it sounds like maybe you're inviting us all to just build right next to your place. Karen, maybe we have our "secondary site"!
  10. I agree. Like Ba-con!! (I am not sure why bacon gets a bad rap from the medical community-- so many of us seem to think it is nourishing and healthy and so good.
  11. I used the word "We" to refer to the people who requested the change --and there were several of us---so people felt comfy talking about anything they like---- along with their dinner plans. Like muu muus or gluten free compounds. We--are those who do not worry that much about staying on topic because sometimes a little chit chat is FUN. Hope this...
  12. Sweetie, we requested the change of topic title so no one felt "pressured" if they went slightly off topic talking about their day or their reason for choosing their dinner. It does not mean (literally) that we expect to know what everyone is talking about during dinner. Some of our members eat alone, after all and some members just relax and do not...
  13. Let's see, you admit to being obsessed with ponies and milkshakes. Nothing wrong with either of those. Enjoy, toots! Dinner tonight: Burgers and sweet potato fries. Mom's coming for the week....she is tough to cook for. Think: Plain. Think: no spices, herbs, onions, etc. Think: 3 ingredient dinner. (and BTW, that was SkiLisa's rule...like most...
  14. A girl after my own heart.
  15. omg, LIsaSkidoodle...this is too funny..one of the best jokes we have in our house is "CABANA BOY! BRING Me DRINKS!!! "(one of the best memories I have is me, years ago, sitting on the beach in St. John... where this bronzed young man ran down the beach carrying drinks on a tray yelling COCKTAILS!.. COCKTAILS! .sigh...he was so adorable.....sigh holy...
  16. now, this woman speaks to me...champagne over cake .
  17. Oh, for pete's sake, Addy! I told you a thousand times, it's not leftovers, it's "encores" Cats do not care what we think..I have worried myself sick over Bella when she wanders....and she always comes home. and finally....make pumpkin muffins, or bread or pie....shakes are not that great in winter... They are okay in the summer, but in winter...
  18. YES! I saw many gluten-free red velvet cheesecake brownies on my search for you....go for it!! problem solved..all's well in the land....the end....and, G'night sleepy dinner thread members!
  19. okay, do not panic!! (quoted by Douglas Adams... and IH, too) Panic serves no purpose. What do you need? a cheesecake with red velvet cake in it? (never heard of that, but hey, Lovey can figure it out) or do you want A Red Velvet Cake with cream cheese frosting? babe, those are easy peasy!!!
  20. OOOOOO!! (still not doing it) SYLVIA!!!!!!! yesssss!!
  21. Seriously, can you imagine how happy we would all be? A truly gluten-free community --sharing our recipes and eating and drinking together and never once worrying we were getting sick from it all? Pure nirvana. The only thing we would have to worry about is our tight pants....which brings us back to those muu muus..... Before it gets too crazy...
  22. I am not as eager about the "complex and difficult" as you are, hon. I DO like a good challenge, however. I still am not quite sure what I said that made Karen think I said a meal could not be less than 3 ingredients (but I will claim short term memory loss from celiac) but I think it is possible to have one. A plain burger, a baked potato with butter...
  23. the current one is Dec/Jan and has cookies on the front Do you mean Oct/Nov (That was the Thanksgiving Hoilday Issue) or Aug/Sept. I can download it and email it you (PDF) I searched the magazine's site for you. There is no red velvet cheesecake recipe coming up.
  24. Which issue was it in? I'll search for it. I have a subscription. But then, I'll own your soul.
