  1. whoohoo! So, during this "cold snap" in FLA, J and I are wearing shorts and sandals and natives have on sweaters, scarves, gloves, down vests and boots. um, it's only 54 outside . They tell me I will be the same way a year from now....that "my blood will thin".... really? Any science behind that, I wondered? come on, you all know me by now...
  2. Jess has a pretty good article on this topic Open Original Shared Link
  3. and possibly shoes! gasp.
  4. Honestly, I am not really worried about hurricane season. Nothing happened this year. We'll see what next year brings. dang, It's cold this AM. 54. supposed to be near 44 tomorrow morning. Quit sending that there polar vortex thinger down here!! Gonna have to suck it up and buy some damn pants.
  5. I found an amazing natural foods store that has everything a celiac/GeeFreer could possibly want--just 20 minutes away. Discovered it by accident (I was in search of a yeast free bread for a friend and took a drive) Well, it was like finding the motherlode of all things G F. Now as you know, I am doing the paleo thing for a few months to see if it helps...
  6. No worries and no hiding I have seen some really racy stuff posted with auto-correct. It's pretty funny actually.
  7. hon, we asked because right here, you say this: I take digestive iodine. Now do you see why we all asked?? I take probiotics, digestive iodine, black seed oil, l- glutamine etc to heal my gut...
  8. Maybe I do not understand. So if you are iodine deficient, you take oral iodine, but doesn't that make you itch too?
  9. mmmm gelato......sure. rub it in, go ahead. I hope the mouse ate it.
  10. Hon, we're sure he's a great guy. None of us thinks otherwise, honest! I just feel strongly that it is a real gamble to share a bread machine and to have flour in the air, that's all. IMHO
  11. yes...maybe...OP??
  12. My non -celiac (but lovingly voluntarily gluten-free husband) just said "tell Karen--that's a great answer!" Nikki, my guy is a senior analytical chemist who worked in labs and he KNOWS what CC can do. There would be NO wheat flour flying around my kitchen EVER once I was Dxed and he was the one who made that clear. Absolutely NO sharing of...
  13. Have to ask...why are you taking iodine? that's terrible for DH, so says anyone with DH. Ingesting iodine makes itching worse. I take probiotics, digestive iodine,
  14. Open Original Shared Link also https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/calendar/event/3588-houston-tx-celiac-support-group/ call them and they can tell you the doc who is their board advisor...that should be your new doctor. Good luck, hon.
  15. I just reached out to a few celiacs I know in TX...I will get back to you ASAP
  16. Alcohol is "not like gluten", no... but, alcohol and coffee (decaf or not) can bother a GI tract and cause gastritis. So, if you have symptoms of gastritis, you should avoid those for a few weeks and it should heal. Does a gut actually "leak?" Perhaps...possibly.....to some small degree if the villi are so damaged and the junctures are wide enough...
  17. I think it is hilarious that this site changed "glutton" to gluten....unless you did that on PORPOISE? < get it?
  18. lmao....oh for pete's sake, you big baby....you pick it up and put it outside. FACE OUT, use both hands so there's no biting. lol That little thing is more scared of you than you are of it. I made the hubs try to corral one little field mouse with me for hours one night so I could pick him up and put him outside. That little bugger outwitted us --and two...
  19. My hubs and I have discussed this often. Really...think about how bizarre it is that one food protein makes your own body attack itself and can kill you if left unchecked. When I think about how really, really bad it got for me and how I actually looked and felt 20 years older than I was...how I was wasting away and my brain deteriorated...(shudder!) ...
  20. It's not unusual for any of us to start looking at our health histories and those of our family members and see a pattern. Lots of things make sense when we put it all together. I was told I had "IBS" and GERD for over 12 years. Treatment failed. It was celiac all along and now, I have neither of those horrible conditions.I take no medications at all. ...
  21. nerp.....no dairy, no grains, no legumes....I am working on feeling better and it's working. lol Gelato can come back into the lineup in a few weeks. Belgian endive makes good "boats" for other foods! I love it with raspberry vinaigrette. Made a pot roast yesterday and it became lunch today and one wonders....hey, why is this so good? It's such...
  22. As I also have mass cell activation and a histamine intolerance, I have symptoms after drinking red wine, champagne, (which I LOVE) or gluten-free beer and too many high histamine foods like that. I also cannot tolerate MSG, additives, nitrates and various chemicals in foods (and damn it because I LOVE bacon, salami, aged cheeses, marinated olives, etc...
  23. I am also a "I want to know why! " kind of person and research satisfies my curiosity most times. They are always working on ways to better diagnose this thing, so perhaps in the future, there will be less hassle, less confusion, less people who fall through the cracks and less people left wondering WHY. (and my very cool GI doctor told me he biopsied...
  24. Indeed....IMO, Best drivers are those who know how to drive a cah in any weathah. My first driving experience behind the wheel at 16.5 years was on the Jamaicaway in Boston (aka the Jway--a tight 4 lane undivided road) at 5PM on a Friday in sneet (which is mixed snow and sleet for those of you who may not know) Mr. O'Connor, the driver's Ed instructor...
  25. I post on Find Me Gluten Free when I have a good experience and say "I have celiac and I ate here safely!!" . LOL If we all did that, it would widen our options, IMHO.
