The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
IrishHeart replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
First rule of cooking: DO NOT PANIC (with a nod to Douglas Adams--which Karen will understand LOL) (1) go with BRM and follow the recipe in the link I posted. (2) I am not a big fan of brining, myself. I know, I know you are all going to say" but it's great." yeah, okay. A dry brine is just as good. I am old school. LOL (3) Before we get all... -

IrishHeart replied to notme's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Totally agree that upscale places are much, much better at this. They cook from scratch and they want to make you happy. It's their primary concern. Those chefs (like my best friend who is a chef, for example --she has cooked for me many times in her home and has not glutened me yet) know full well that gluten is not a necessary ingredient in delicious...- 11 replies

COLLEEN Holy smokes! I see that BRM has come out with a ready-made pie crust. Well, this may be easier for you than screwing with mixing a blended flour mix and then assembling a crust. Just a suggestion. check this out! http://blog.bobsredmill.com/gluten-free/amazing-gluten-free-apple-pie/ But, if you want to make it from scratch, I... -

Colleen, To answer your question about cubing the bread? yes, sure! I cube mine sometimes. It does not matter. I can give you a pie dough recipe that is awesome and not that hard to make. Do you have a rolling pin? Not being a wise guy, here, I am just asking. or I can give you a pumpkin pie recipe with ginger snap cookie crust and an apple crisp... -

Poor baby. ((hugs)) Having been hit by CC in a restaurant that I ate in once and it worked out fine, but not the second time and had to utter the same "wth? I ate here before and nothing happened! " ( and then a bunch of swear words.) I can say I understand your disappointment and frustration. Here is what I know: The Find Me Gluten Free app is only as...- 11 replies

ARCHIVED Amazon <dot> Ca

I use this company a lot. I subscribe to Prime, It's about $79 a year, I think and believe me, it is worth it to have things within 2 days for free shipping. I get USA pans, cooking and baking supplies, health and beauty items and my beloved books. These are all things I was not going to find when I was living in the remote countryside for years. Now that... -

and now, you all know the terrible truth. I'm a victim of senseless cheesy cracker bullying. Don't let this happen to you. Just say NO! to the cheesy crackers. One bite, and you're hooked. -

Yeah, I can plow through a box of Van's cheesey thingies in no time. It's Karen's fault I got them. I love them, but. I do not buy them anymore and my thighs are grateful. -

Clever Ski made it up. It marks the day we stopped eating the poison. It's the first day of our new life. 11/1/10....so, I'm 3 today. And yes, I feel like a happy toddler. It also marks the beginning of "birthday month" and the holidays, our anniversary, J's bday, yadda yada yadda. We get carried away with these celebrations in our home. A giant festival... -

I have always found the title "better than sex cake" to be a flat out lie. No cake is that good and that's a high bar to set lol. But I bet it's dang tasty. Say Happy Bday to your son for me! Thanks, Guys. Yes, it sure is good to be alive and kicking instead of dead. Now, gimme a piece o'cake. -

Honestly, I think this is picking a bone and not applicable to what I have said, Barty, but I am willing to clarify what I have said one last time. I was not talking at all about "what's worse" or about the sign. I was talking about the reasons why Stephanie may have people do all the things they do. I think she is right to be very cautious. First... -

My chef friend Babs taught me how to do this--de-bone a turkey then butterfly the breast. and roll it (crazy, considering my track record with pointy, sharp objects ) and I found it to be a pain in the arse but do-able. However, her stuffed turkey breast recipe---very similar to this one except spinach was involved-is just outrageously delicious. This looks... -

But if they aren't visibly sticky or dirty, how can you reasonably say it's gluten! If I can't see it, I am not assuming anything. How can you say "Go wash you hands right now" to every person that walks through the door??. I am trying to say: If a kiddo comes in obviously filthy, hell ya...ask him to go wash his hands. Bella does not "act" unimpressed. Cats are either impressed or they aren't. You always know where you stand with a cat. You are "in" or you're "out" Dogs slobber, hump and love anything in its path. Not particular and not choosy. If a cat likes you, you have been chosen. You are special. (Look, I am a dog person, I had an awesome lab named Gracie, but...
