  1. Dude, I want the kids to like me, not egg my car. herbal tea bags... hilarious lmao I love kale chips, but they might not translate well into "to-go " bags. ICK
  2. Well, I recently had a post-DX follow up biopsy and while I am healing, I have evidence of gastritis ( but neg for h.Pylori ) and it is my understanding that gastritis can be caused by a number of things: Certain medications, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen, when taken over a longer period of time Drinking too much alcohol Infection of the stomach...
  3. Just happened to see your blog entry and may I make a suggestion? What about the book and blog Gluten Free on a Shoestring? Open Original Shared Link Just a thought! Cheers, IH
  4. sound like a good plan, hon. Take it easy on the workouts at first. Your muscles may not be ready for too much. Just go slow and take your time to build up your energy. I saw you had a DEXA (bone density) scan done. Do not be alarmed if it shows a slight dip towards osteopenia. This is not uncommon, but most people's bone density improves once you...
  5. Unless you have a casein intolerance, you should be able to eat some yogurt. The lactose in dairy may be an issue for celiacs at first, but yogurt has far less lactose than dairy products. but if you prefer to stay off it, that's your call, of course! Have you tried the quinoa flakes? They are quick to cook up. I add some banana and a bit of honey...
  6. omygosh...what was I thinkin' ? of course, a gummy would be better for a wee one. Thanks, you cycling chick, you. I'd love to do the gummies myself.. Well MOM, you can take the Country life ones. .

    Day Four

I do not think you are experiencing "IBS" --it's probably the gluten, hon.
  8. hahaha! thanks for that giggle, Addy! I made quinoa and black bean stuffed peppers and I have to say, they were awesome. I made a triple batch. My very sweet neighbors (and temporary landlords) have gone G F and my physical therapist and her hubs are also G F so I figured they all work hard and maybe I could share.
  9. I am not sure about protein replacements or shakes. I just have a greek yogurt after the gym. 18 grams of protein is pretty good, I think. You might also try 2 hard boiled eggs? "Eggs are a good source of protein and they contain all of the essential amino acids, so they provide complete protein. One hard-boiled egg has 6.29 grams of protein, which...
  10. I can't speak to those particular seeds, but I personally would not buy anything from open bulk bins. Sorry, hon. . The chances of cross contamination--all those scoops, open lids, flours, etc. --is just too great. Maybe hubs can eat those and you can make some more? No, you do not have to buy things specifically marked "G F" but open bins are...
  11. I like Country Life Gluten Free vitamins. Hon, I think by "good" , he may have meant a "reputable company that ensures G F".
  12. That sounds good, Paul. And way better than the guy who gives out apples. or dental floss. just sayin
  13. Thanks for the list K. I am excited that I no longer live in the remote countryside and I'll hve actual kiddos coming to the door! whoohoo! P.S. I eat the tootsie rolls they have by the door when I leave after my work out at Planet Fitness.
  14. Someone reminded of this! There's Jules' E book-- on Thanksgiving. just a suggestion. Open Original Shared Link I like this stuffing in a crockpot. Very moist! Open Original Shared Link In fact, she has tons of holiday crockpot ideas. take a peek!
  15. Edited to say: I answered but I realized you were not exactly speaking to me. But I would like to say that I appreciated you clarifying your statements for the readers of the thread. Thanks, IH
  16. Good for you. If you need help with that, let us know.
  17. I second this! I am so glad your headaches are gone and happy the Newbie thread is helping. If there's anything else we can help with, just shout!
  18. I say....sure why not? not everything that happens in our bodies is because we have celiac or because we were glutened (although my chronic pain symptoms are worse if that happens) . I also have AI osteoarthritis. I can get very, very sore and tired and stiff but, if I keep moving, I can control it somewhat. I also have AI myositis, but I have it (mostly...
  19. well, it's one 9 year old with a retainer made from one source. It's a unique circumstance. In one child. (and the skeptic in me wonders how gluten-free he was. Adults make mistakes, Kids cheat. just sayin) just recall that pub med abstracts are often published because something is NOVEL, NEW, DIFFERENT, etc. yes, I am playing devil's advocate...
  20. Well, hon, it isn't possible for gluten to be absorbed through the skin. The gluten molecule is too large. (make sure your "GI specialist" knows this.) Please, read this: Open Original Shared Link No need to worry about a bone scan. It's painless and over in a second (you lay on a table--that's it) Calcium being high is less worrisome...
  21. Well, you did not lose consciousness if you were aware of what was going on, but this certainly is alarming and you should see a doctor. We are not doctors on here and none of us can speculate about what may be going on. You posted recently asking about diabetes and this sensation you describe could be related. Hope everything is all right. Keep...
  22. Actually, for that small amount (3/4 cup) I would think coconut flour would work just fine. It's not the primary flour in the recipe. I have subbed coconut flour for almond flour on occasion with no problem.
  23. Actually, there are many people on here who live with WEs who will tell you there is no problem with washing dishes, glasses and silverware together in a dishwasher. Rinse off before loading and they should be fine. I have no concern using dishes at my non-celiac friend's homes--as long as they are clean.
  24. I suggest staying home for the first holiday season until you get one under your belt. I'm an adult and I had a hard time the first Thanksgiving and Christmas at my sister's house. But it's your call, of course. We do not know your family situation so we can't really say. To this day, I am more comfortable hosting the big holiday parties. ...
  25. I have tried 5 flavors so far, that one's still the fave thus far.
