ARCHIVED Laura Lynn Corn Meal?
IrishHeart replied to Brandiwine's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
oh honey, there is no "playbook" for this, really and often, we get bitten on the behind a few times while learning. Chin up! I do not know a single GeeEffer who has not been hit a few times. I am leery of many chain places.... however, I have had good luck at Bonefish Grill and many celiacs I know swear by Outback, Chipotle and Carrabba's.. I... -

yes! and Pacific or Kitchen Basics are good too. If you have access to a BJs or Costco, they come in multi-packs. -
ARCHIVED Laura Lynn Corn Meal?
IrishHeart replied to Brandiwine's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It could be just fine, but I am in the camp of those who prefer to know how it was packaged and I do not consume anything made in shared facilities that process wheat (just my personal preference) and I have had no issues with BRM G F products at all. I also like nuts.com certified G F products, if you want to take a look at their website excellent... -

Lavender cupcakes and frosting sound fab, Addy!! yum! Welcome Noachka! Your dinner does sound great. Well, SKI I pushed the limit on the high histamine foods that give me grief the past few days --and boy, was it fun !!!(alcohol, chocolate, tomatoes, aged cheese) and that lasagna I made last night was fantastic (if I do say so myself) but... -
ARCHIVED Probiotic And Digestive Enzymes Question
IrishHeart replied to niese's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I like Digest Gold enzymes and Culturelle Probiotics( if you have diarrhea, they contain the strain lactobacillusGG which helps with that) Another good one is Jarro-dophilus AF (allergy-free) or Custom Probiotics . Others may have suggestions of brands they prefer. -
ARCHIVED Celiac Vaccine? Not For Me
IrishHeart replied to Opa3's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
90%--where did you get that statistic?? I'd like to see the source of that number, please ----because I honestly think that is incorrect. It's not "virtually impossible" to avoid gluten. I do it. -
ARCHIVED Probiotic And Digestive Enzymes Question
IrishHeart replied to niese's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Probiotics replenish the beneficial bacteria in your gut. Digestive enzymes help when your pancreatic enzymes are lacking due to pancreatic insufficiency (whether from celiac or pancreatitis). They can be combined in one supplement, yes, but the potency is the key.. What is the brand name? let's take a look at the label--maybe see what's in the combo... -
ARCHIVED Another Symptom I Didn't Know I Had
IrishHeart replied to bartfull's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have a bizarrely heightened sense of smell and I often ask the hubs"don't you smell THAT?"..meaning dampness, musty smell, burning, whatever. He (of the stuffy nose) says "nope". I would not describe it as worrisome, but maybe bothersome. then again, when it is something pleasant, I get an extra boost of it. I just have an acute sense of smell... -

oh come on, sweets...you can cut and paste too., if'n you wanted or you could just copy, like SkiLisa does...lazypants that she is. -
I never use the word "allergy" when I talk about celiac..I just say politely that I have celiac disease... and I am always taken seriously. You do not need to urge us to "fight back" hon....we all work hard for celiac awareness on a daily basis in ways you may not even imagine. Our point to you is...this is not a legitimate cause for a law suit...
-
I subscribe to the theory that presumed "lost causes" are the only ones worth fighting for...but I know when I am being played and methinks that's what is happening here. I taught middle school, high school, college and MBA candidates, to answer your question.. i asked a question of the OP .....and I am awaiting an answer.

Well, see, the problem with me is, I am a former teacher and I always feel the need to try just once more, but I see it was probably a waste of my time because I know an antagonistic sort when I see one and . back atcha. I have just one question, to be considered for this "disabilities act"... you need a diagnosis of celiac. Does this apply...
-
I am all for supporting my fellow celiacs and I spend a lot of my time doing just that (including providing food pantries with shelf stable celiac meals), but now, you are straying off on tangents well beyond the scope of your original topic and taking things off the internet to try and support YOUR cause. The majority of us just do not agree that all...
-
and on that intelligent note, (and thank you, Jess )...I'm out... . I tried my best.
-
that article is a joke and I do not consider it valid or relevant.
-
Maybe if you had long undiagnosed celiac and it created OTHER health conditions, illnesses and diseases causing permanent damage, you MIGHT be able to prove a disability under the disabiilites act. Good luck with that. I think you just have an ax to grind at this point. Good luck. "Evaluating Your Residual Functional Capacity If your symptoms of...
-
Nope, I really don't..... sorry! For example, I just went to a wedding and they accommodated me and the other GeeFreers so well, I never gave my "status" as a celiac a single thought. Not once. (I had crackers and PB in my car in case I needed it, but I always do that) I ate and drank and had a blast. You really need to get over the thought that...
-
No, sorry kiddo, I just do not. I am seeing a ball game, a play, a movie...I am still happy. I am not "alienated " in any way because I have celiac. And this is not at all the same as accommodating for a wheelchair. We have legs. And celiac is not a "food allergy" so, you cannot use that as your basis. I think you need to stop viewing...
-
Exactly...... what Jess just said.
-
Exactly!!!. That's a non sequitor. Your argument is not valid, sorry. Gluten free food is not a necessity of life for the majority of people attending a ball game. Bathrooms, however, are a different story. I brought my own sandwich into the ball parks in Florida recently. But I have also managed to watch many games, movies, plays etc without...

ARCHIVED Is There Hope For Neuropathy?
IrishHeart replied to CarolynA's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree with Raven & Patti I had many neurological symptoms and was I warned by a neurologist and spine specialist they might never resolve entirely (and I would be on meds for the rest of my life) because of how long it took for me to be Dxed, but I can happily report to you that they are nearly all resolved after 2.5 years. I do experience some residual... -
