  1. I think the reason that I am spending more on food is that I'm trying a lot of new recipes. I LOVE to cook (nowhere near gourmet, but I love a nice home cooked meal). What I am finding, is that a lot of my favorite things to eat, were already gluten free (or only had to alter one or two ingredients). My go to meal for leftovers...taco salad. Make it once...
  2. Don't know about Boston Market (but that would be awesome), but I saw on Rice Krispies website that their Gluten Free version comes out in June. It will be made with Brown Rice. They don't list the ingredients on the website, but I'm interested to know. Plus, it also doesn't say that they are made in a different facility so super sensitive people may still...
  3. That is unbelievable!! I'm to the point where I'm actually scared to mention to restaurants that I need to be gluten free. Some seem very good about it, but others are just completely uneducated. We don't go out to eat very often because it just isn't an enjoyable experience for me....even if I order off of a "gluten free menu", I'm still paranoid the...
  4. I'm just so irritated!! My skin has NEVER been this bad. I few itchy patches here and there before I went gluten-free and now it's EVERYWHERE!!! Just found a couple on the back of my hand, back of my knees, calves, completely covering the back of both legs, back of my neck.... I just don't know what to do. The longer I am gluten free, the worse it...
  5. Last night I made chicken and black bean tacos. I used to make them as burritos, but haven't found a suitable flour tortilla substitute yet and I don't like corn tortillas. So I just fill taco shells now and it's still delicious! I've always loved to cook and I'm not letting this gluten-free thing get me down. Luckily, almost all of my favorites can still...
  6. I need some ideas for an easy gluten-free graham cracker crust. I make a super easy (and unbelievable) key lime pie but have always just used the store bought ready made Keebler crust before I found out about my celiac disease. I would probably enjoy it just as well without the crust (baked in a ramekin or something), but I would like to make the whole...
  7. I wanted to love the brownies so badly - but I just couldn't do it. Made them for myself and bf - he wouldn't eat them. Said they still have that "weird after taste". I had to agree. Maybe it's because I haven't been gluten-free very long (today marks 5 weeks). I have just given up on the sweet stuff for the moment. I'll stick to plain ol chocolate...
  8. I take Rainbow Light Women's One - states on the label that it is dairy and gluten free. I love it because it doesn't contain iodine (I have DH and am very sensitive to iodine). So far I've had great results on it. I also take a B12 supplement and L-glutamine - both have helped tremendously. Hope she feels better soon.
  9. I get my digestive enzymes from my chiropractor, but they have plenty of good ones at health food stores. My digestion is SOO much happier now, but I still have a hard time digesting beef. And I'm sorry, with the weather warming up around here, there is NO WAY I'm giving up a steak on the grill!!) I usually find that if I take an enzyme pill right before...
  10. I've been using their new Pure Clean gel for my curls. It is the best substitute I've found so far. My old gel (DevaCurl Angel) has wheat and oat in it so I stopped using it. I miss it terribly though - so do my curls!! It's amazing how many sacrifices we have to make right?
  11. Well, I knew it would happen eventually, but I have NO idea what did it. In the past two hours, I ate lunch (leftovers from last night - felt fine yesterday), took my pills (some new supplements, but all say gluten free), and then had some kettle corn for "dessert" (I've eaten it with no problems before and it says "gluten free"). Have NO clue what did...
  12. Ravenwood - those are both my favs as well!! I ate there last week and had an excellent experience. I got my order to go - although, they did throw in a fortune cookie - I politely handed it back to get rid of temptation. She apologized and said "sorry it's just a habit to give them to everyone". No harm done since they are wrapped in plastic. They are...
  13. I've noticed that if I'm somehow able to NOT scratch active lesions, that they seem to heal faster. But some of them itch SO bad that I just can't help it. This is like some type of torture!! Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to beat the sting and the itch.
  14. Thanks Emily - that's a really great way of thinking of it! I hate bananas so I don't eat them - but I'm sure my body would love one. My system hates real pizza, so I guess I'll have to listen. I'll just have a glass of wine to make it all better!! :-)
  15. Haven't had any issues with thyroid, but I have taken other things by energetix and have had excellent results. Was told by my chiropractor that my body responds "very well" to homeopathy - great news since my body rejects most prescriptions. Hope it works for you!
  16. After much internet research, I decided to go gluten-free about a month ago. I'm very sure that I have DH (biopsy came back "inconclusive", but she took it from the wrong spot) and my gasto sypmtoms were never severe. However, since going gluten-free, my digestive system has never been happier which tells me I was right. My brain fog is starting to lift...
  17. Finding out what the problem is is a very important first step. Especially after being ill for so long. It's only normal to become a bit impatient to feel better once you actually KNOW what caused the problem in the first place. It took years for your system to get so messed up - but hopefully (for all of us), it won't take nearly that long to heal the...
  18. Your cat is adorable!!:>)

  19. I was afraid of that. Just so frustrating!!! My outbreaks were mild and merely a little annoying while I was still eating gluten. Now that I'm gluten free, they are driving me insane!! I itch ALL DAY!! Used to only be on my elbows - now it's in and around my ears, back of my neck, on my back, back of legs, etc. Anybody have any suggestions to take the...
  20. I have no observations on this, but I'm extremely intrigued. Two years ago I got really sick and ever since then I've been strictly natural and homeopathic when it comes to medicines. I had a doctor tell me that what I ate had no impact on the health issue I was having at the time. I had another doctor give me two rounds of antibiotics even though "no...
  21. I've been gluten-free almost 4 weeks - active lesions were still itchy, but slowly healing and no more new ones. WELL then yesterday happened. I couldn't get out of the office for lunch, so I ate my emergency frozen gluten-free clam chowder that I had in the freezer. Not even thinking that the whole thing was probably full of iodine. Within hours I was...

    ARCHIVED Sad

I've been gluten free almost 4 weeks now. First 3 were brutal. I'm just now starting to feel a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. Headaches aren't as bad and I'm not all over the place emotionally (the sunny warm might have something to do with it though). From what I hear, it can take a few months to really feel better. That's the only thing keeping...
  23. I've been gluten-free for under a month and I've been doing pretty well. I'm probably not as vigilant about CC as I should be, but I'm getting there. The longer I'm gluten-free, the more in tune I am with my symtoms. Anyway, I just had to share my dumb girl moment from last night. I've been trying different gluten-free Brownie mixes for a few weeks. ...
  24. Oh the headaches!! I've been gluten-free for 3 weeks and I have had the worst headaches for about a week. As for the sleeping, I can't seem to get enough - although I'm not sleeping all that well either. I took a benedryl the other night (the itching from DH is making me nuts) and I slept great! However, I felt terrible the next day (stomach pain), so...
  25. I hate the look of pity I get from the server when I ask for the gluten free menu. Some places are very good about it (i.e. Stircrazy, Scotty's Brewhouse), but others just look at you like you're an alien. I hate not being able to go "just anywhere". I used to be very low maintenence....not anymore!! Bf has been great about it, but I'm SO frustrated ...
