  1. WOOT!! I am so glad you are feeling better, and that is REALLY good news about the corn. It is hard enough avoiding gluten, corn starch is in so many foods!
  2. I do sort of regret not going through it. My doc discouraged it, knowing it is expensive and often not accurate if damage is patchy. I didn't have enough of the "right" positive tests to give me absolute confidence in a celiac diagnosis; my only positive was TtG IgG. I think if I also had the positive EMA, I would have been able to skip the endoscopy...
  3. It's not autoimmune, but is there any chance you might have Lyme disease? Lyme and post-Lyme complications ("Late-Stage" or "Chronic" Lyme) can cause symptoms like yours. Have you investigated other food sensitivities? And, to end the interrogation, , how is your thyroid? Autoimmune thyroid can also cause some of your symptoms. You would need...
  4. Which celiac tests did they do? Do you have the actual numbers? They may not have done a full array of tests for celiac. They should test you for immune deficiency. It's common for people with certain immune deficiencies to contract some pneumonias. Thyroid? They should do TSH, Free T3 and Free T4.
  5. I'm not a medical professional, so don't want to go too far giving out advice. Myself, I prefer to go without antibiotics if not necessary to save my life, because I think that is what messed up my gut flora in the first place. It will kill of the good as well as the bad. I might try a good probiotic, NOT one with FOS...I was having a lot of trouble...
  6. LOL! We love garlic at our house, go through 3 or 4 heads a week. Waiting for my homegrown to be ready to pick! I love to get the garlic-stuffed green olives and munch the garlic cloves with them! But, the suggestion to puree the Clasico sounds pretty good!
  7. Sorry you are struggling! Have you tried taking the dairy out altogether? Sometimes dairy problems are not lactose, but casein. Making 24-hour yogurt will not solve a casein problem.
  8. Welcome to the board. You will get lots of good advice here, best place around! It looks like they only did an IgA version of the celiac test, so those tests don't necessarily rule out celiac. The serum IgA is a test they do just to see how many of the IgA class antibodies there are, it isn't a test specific for any disease. If it is very low, as...
  9. Great news! Very glad that all is looking so good!
  10. Cruel to have her gluten-free? I'm dumbfounded. What on earth is cruel about a gluten-free diet? I can't believe they said that! I would be running as fast as I could from THAT loser doctor! If you ask me, it is cruel (malpractice, even) to keep a person with celiac on a gluten diet for the purpose of creating the damage they want to see before a...
  11. I second the vote on the beans. I don't use Bob's all-purpose for that reason. I don't like the beany taste from ANY of the bean flours.
  12. Are you using a diet from the doctor, or did you find something online? What are the kinds of foods your diet allows? My daughter-in-law ended up jumping on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (except she was able to keep chocolate in her life, though it's "illegal" ) and it has kept her intestines happier than the diet the doctor put her on. It's...
  13. I see a big red flag waving here. Your daughter, while not IgA deficient, is so low in serum IgA that it makes the celiac test suspect. They only actually did ONE and it was an IgA test. If the "big bucket" of IgA is nearly empty, the chances of finding the particular kind of IgA they were looking for (there are several sub-classes) are pretty slim. ...
  14. I'm not a medical professional, but if I heard "questionable" I would be thinking it simply means the test is not clearly and obviously negative. Not necessarily positive, but in that "fuzzy" area that means they'll want to take a closer look. Have you made any changes in your diet that might be helpful with a SIBO problem?
  15. It might help if you would get copies of the bloodwork and the biopsy reports and see what they say. Often docs say they do a "full panel" and they have actually only done one or two tests. There are several that should be done, and especially on children because it IS difficult to get positive bloodwork on children. Check whether they did the total...
  16. Have you tried those disposable moist wipes you can wipe down a cat with? Takes some of the allergen off the fur. Sorry you're suffering...I know how it feels, I'm allergic to two of the most common substances around my place (dust and mold) and have allergies most of the time. It's miserable!
  17. It's okay to mention gluten here. I'm very glad you are doing well and feeling happy!
  18. I don't use a lot of it, I have a loaf in my freezer that's been there for 4 months and I've only used a few slices. When I do use it it is toast, an open-faced sandwich that is eaten with a fork, breadcrumbs, turkey stuffing. I love bread and was quite a baker before gluten free, I second the motion that there isn't a single gluten free product that...
  19. LOL, you made that very simple! I kind of thought the same thing, but for some reason I have always been such a wordy birdie...{sigh}
  20. Ummm, yeah. Ketchup? Interesting. Question: Does your husband smoke or have other stuff (chronic plugged sinuses or something) that might affect his taste buds? Maybe he can't taste well if there's not enough seasoning in stuff. Really reaching for a logical explanation for the need of that much seasoning! Soo...no self-respecting Italian would...
  21. Old as the hills and twice as dusty. Somewhere between 50 and 60, I've lost track.
  22. At 3, your daughter will probably adjust just fine, and very quickly! Having adults around her with a positive, matter-of-fact attitude can make it very easy on her. It is probably a harder adjustment for the grownups! You've gotten some great ideas already, I won't duplicate those, but I wanted to reassure you and let you know you do not need to...
  23. Just adding to what others said...don't stress about the number of views vs. the number of replies, I think there are a lot of folks who just can't get the gene tests! I am a DQ 2.2. Lowest risk category but positive blood test. Vague non-classic symptoms...along with Hashimoto's disease. A proud member of the "1% of the 1%" I guess.
  24. Obsessed? NO! You are simply being VIGILANT. You are simply taking this seriously because it IS serious, and doing a great job of it! I see this so often in the grocery store, even in parents who don't look like they are trying to manage special diets. There will be a mom with a couple of little kids in the cart, showing a 4-year old boxes...
  25. Cryin' for happy for you! That is wonderful news!
