  1. could be something in it that you can't handle. Such as food coloring, the sweetener, etc.
  2. Feel free to go gluten free right away. Celiac is genetic so any first degree relatives should be tested (such as your daughter). Should she test negative, it is recommended to be retested every 2 to 3 years.
  3. It would be easier for you to go back on it now and be retested than waiting and doing a gluten challenge later.
  4. Stress is the issue here. As for celiac, I have not heard of it causing flare ups, however, I believe stress can mimic them.
  5. The caramal color thing is a myth that won't go away. No need to worry about them.
  6. Eh, it depends. Children have more taste buds than adults do so some things can taste off. I didn't like a few foods until i was older (such as sweet potatoes and broccoli). however that being said, while i loved tomato sauces, I could not stand it raw. It eventually got to the point where i really didn't like either.
  7. No, it means that after that first batch of testing is done, both the blood and endo, you can try the diet as a final test. If you wish to have testing done when the child is older, then a gluten challenge would be required (eating gluten for a period of time). However, if the diet resolves all of the symptoms then, imo, you have your answer.
  8. The leading researcher for celiac uses this following criteria in testing: Positive blood test Positive biopsy Positive genetic test Symptoms of celiac Symptoms go away on the gluten free diet Four of the five are enough for a positive diagnosis according to him (i'm sure another member knows of the doctor i'm talking about, I cannot remember...
  9. It can take up to two years for any damage to heal. Take vitamins for any low vitamin levels you have, take a pro-biotic, and take it easy is all i can suggest.
  10. Coffee is harsh on your system. If you are just starting and healing, that alone might be the reason why you are having issues with it.
  11. Could it be a side effect from your medication?
  12. Ancient quinoa is somewhat forgiving if it is overcooked, but it depends on the shape. Elbows hold up better than any other shape.
  13. When my blood sugar gets low, I get light headed and having the shakes. Eating something high in protein helps. However, it does seem to indicate that you should look into being tested.
  14. Post the meatball recipe please! I've been wanting some so bad.
  15. Family history and that blood test alone is enough i think for a diagnosis. However, that being said, the TTG doesn't always mean that the biopsy will come back positive. Often times celiac causes patchy damage or damage that is not visible to the eye. Potential areas can be missed. Mine was at a 37 (with anything 1-19 normal, 20-29 low positive,...
  16. Yes, do so. Celiac is a genetic disease. It could be the reason why your son has those issues as well.
  17. Allergies can be very weird. My allergy to tomatoes, for example, before my skin prick test, would cause my head, neck, and shoulders to feel like i had a very bad sunburn (that burning feeling) but there would be no marks. So when the test site for it became a large hive, there was no doubt. But when in doubt with something or trying something new, the...
  18. My GERD damaged my throat. It took about a year to heal. I ended up cutting out tea, soda, milk (it would coat my throat and make it irritated, no allergy though and i was able to handle cheese just fine), spicy, acidic and anything that triggers the acid reflux. I have never drank coffee either. Out of that list, I have only gotten milk back. I fully...
  19. No I don't. I do know a bit on food allergies and whatnot. A good idea to do, however, if you have environmental allergies is to eat some local honey. It seems to help lessen them to a degree and it also helps with stomach issues. I know if i don't have some every day, my GERD tends to act up a bit more.
  20. You could try the syrup form of the medication. They may not have it. I have heard that allegra might be when I went to look it up. Best bet would be to contact a pharmacist or the manufacturer for more information.
  21. It is still a good idea to test while they are on it.
  22. You could do gravys and whatnot. Use it as a thickener in soups and stews.
  23. Random thought, could someone be bullying her?
  24. That is nerve related. Have you tried removing soy? Some celiacs find that it can cause the same type of issues with them as gluten does.
  25. We've barely had any rain so far. Normally, by now, we'd be into the rainy season (not to mention hail too), but so far i can count on my hand how many times we've had it. We're mostly just getting the wind and the lightning from it. I saw that video as well. So was this caused by the run off from the snow and a heavy rain?
