  1. Any suggestions for a family? We'll be there for 2 days. Please suggest any places that are good for a celiac to eat at. Thanks a bunch. Really need the help! We have 2 kids. Not pizza please.
  2. gluten-free soups, Amy's burritos and fresh foods, breads and crackers. That is what comes to mind. See if the dorm cafeteria can work with you for preparing things for you, simple things. Maybe frozen meals, soups and fresh things. Good luck.
  3. Tell them you will make a law suit if they don't abide by these orders. In one school that I sub teach in they have a big poster in the class and in the teacher's room of food allergies of the students. Make one yourself and hang it in the teacher's room. I am sorry this is happening. Also I know that if schools cannot serve your student, it is your lawful...
  4. Cut out all tea, soda, alcohol and see if that helps. I was given a hormonal cream to put up in the vaginal area and my IC symptoms are most of the time gone. Watch acidic foods and drinks too.
  5. I ate an Amy"s burrito and a tiger milk bar that I thought was gluten-free. I ate the burrito yesterday. I had a terrible reaction this afternoon. I am trying to figure out the source. Grr. So are tiger milks all gluten-free? What do you know and I'm thinking the spice may have done a number on me as well. I had an extra cup of coffee with almond milk as...
  6. My son's teacher says she suddenly lost 8 pounds and is loosing her hair and is having an endless pd. She knows I have celiac so confided in me as to what is happening to her. She has had 3 kids and is 31. What do you celiac.com docs think this could be. She does not have other symptoms. But turned to me for ideas. Can you help me out? I'd love to share...
  7. I had some tea today, but had cheese and hallapinio(SP?) two days ago by mistake. They put it on my sandwich at Red Robin. GRR After asking them not to. So I don't know what I'm reacting from. I had a bad reaction last Friday as well. I had some wine last night too. I know that can trigger IBS feelings. Has anyone ever been sensitive to tea or cafein products...
  8. I ate Trader Joe crackers and became very sick. I've had trouble the last few days. Do you avoid "all shared equipment"? Have you gotten sick as well eating something made on shared equipment and how long did it last? This sucks.
  9. I had a reaction a few days ago. I think I ate crackers made on shared equipment from Trader Joes, so bummed right now. I hate coping after I have a reaction. I hate having my gut in a knot. I just took the generic lomotil. I hate taking it. I have to drive kids to soccer a half hour away. Ug . It is wanting to do the complete dump right now. Anyone relate...
  10. A little girl in my son's class has unexplained anxiety issues that are new along with stomach issues with her anxiety. She gets the anxiety when she is separated from mom. She is in 4th grade. She crys a lot lately. Could it be a gluten related issue? The mom wants to try anything. Should I tell her to get a celiac test? Should I suggest going gluten-free...
  11. My 9 yr old did not test for celiac on the bood test. However he has frequent stomach aches, unexplained and has unusual accid wear on his teeth. The dentist does no know much about celiac. I have celiac. But the dentis said that my son shows accid pooling in his sleep on his teeth. What do you all think? Could my son have celiac and not have it show up on...
  12. We used to live there 9 years ago. But my dh wants to go back and take the kids to Leggo Land. Does anyone know of good gluten-free restaurants there or close by? Please share if you know of any. Thanks so much.
  13. I have yet to find one. Please share if you have one. I love the tofy cream cheese, and the coconut butter, but need a cheese. Thanks.
  14. I enjoyed this post. Thanks to all who contributed.
  15. I'd say if I had to guess sugar is the worst of it. Food dyes may contribute, but sugar and chocolate and food dyes make my son crazy hyper. I am the gluten-free one, but when he gets sugar and the above and lack of sleep and no exercise, he's a mess. Leke the others said, you can eat gluten-free for cheap. All our dinners are gluten-free period at home....
  16. I have to eat every few hours or I get light headed. That may be normal. People have posted some good ideas. I eat nuts and a safe cereal for breakfast and eggs many days as well. I do pretty good with that and always carry a safe granola bar too.
  17. I used to live in Oceanside near you. There is Whole Foods in your area. Find a clerk to help you. Yes it is nornal to feel this way. Lots of people have panic attacks when they first get celiac. I did. It was super bad. For me almost post war disorder. I was a real mess. Sometimes I get to be a mess again when I have a mystery flare like today. As for bread...
  18. For me lactose has all of a sudden become like what you are describing. Especially yogert and cheese and full fat dairy dressing. So get rid of all dairy and just eat your super safe foods. Applesauce, plain safe gluten-free bread. Eat just that for a while and see what happens. Hope you are better soon. Tonight I'm there with you with my own mystery blow...
  19. I hate it when I don't know what does it and after I was doing so well. Have many people given up coffee, soda, tea? I went to the gym and was fine and then came home and had a diet coke and the rest of my morning coffee and a few sips of yesterday's tea. Then felt girgly, but wanted to get take out for the kids. We went to pick it up and it hit like a...
  20. I get the runs from a lot of rice. So maybe cut back on rice and see if that helps. Take one food out at a time for several days and see if you are better. Fats do me in. So cut back on all fats. Maybe try to eat meat. See if it helps. If it does eat meat. Not beef, too hard to digest.
  21. I was reading your post and just thought maybe an IC diet may help. It helps with acid reflux, not on purpose. But it helps not have acidic foods in your diet and maybe that is part of the problem since you said you have GERD. Look up the diet online or pick up a book. It helps me.
  22. That is a compliment that they both like gluten-free food. I'd tell the kids if we have issues when we go to friends, next time we wont go or eat before we go. You set the rules and that is that. That is what I'd tell them.
  23. For me it is the fats and dairy and anything that makes IC flare up. I have to live by the IC diet as well. It is a challenge.
  24. Most people like the taste of udis. Low carb, I don't know. Sometimes you have to try several before you like one.
  25. Open Original Shared Link Please watch and tell me where one can get the test for all the things that the actress reacted to. Why aren't we all tested for all these things? So many of us still suffer from so many unknown things, Please comment your thoughts after watching it.
