  1. Thanks! Ahh I know how that goes, it sounds like we are similar And after reading your about me I had the same thing, a TON of health problems but never the biopsy, and had the blood tests months after going gluten free but the difference without gluten is like day and night, that's the only thing that makes sense and fits perfectly. It's a defeating feeling...
  2. Elizabeth, sorry to hear you are having such a tough time. I hope your mom was able to find you some food you can eat. I have had a real hard time too, my stomach was just not well for a long long time and I still have a lapse where it seems I am starting all over again so I understand what you are saying, especially when all you want is soup. I know you...
  3. Yes, the package does say it is a lac-resin. I am lactose intolerant but I take an enzyme and do just fine. I wonder also if there could have been some CC in the package. Sometimes certain bags of microwave popcorn with do the very same thing to me.
  4. Curious....how are you doing on the gluten-free diet? Are you finding any improvements or changes in your own health? What wonderful support you are offering your boyfriend!!
  5. Is there anyway you could see a new doc? Having already been diagnosed with Crohn's it would lead me to think this very possibily could be celiac. Bad thing about testing is it is not accurate and a person who tests with negative lab results could retest a year later with positive results. If you want to persue an actual diagnosis you would have to continue...
  6. Definately be seen by your doc. I almost wonder if you might have a bladder infection.
  7. Yes, you have described it well, same type of reaction for me. I used to love this one cajun salt which I used for my crab boil. One day after eating the crab I woke up with these tiny bumps under my skin on my fingers. Checked the bottle and it said it could conatin wheat. Not sure if it was the wheat or the spice that created this. Had no stomach issues...
  8. That's a good idea. I have never madea call before about ingredients but I did find this one bewildering.
  9. As a reward for my students they receive a bit of candy if tasks are completed. One of the packs I bought at Christmas time was the mixed bag of miniatures. One the bag each bar's ingredients was listed. I didn't pay attention to the dark choco but did have the regualr milk choco and was fine. I did notice there were a couple I could not have. So I think...
  10. I have lived in Germany for 10 years. Lived in Italy for 2 years. Took took years of Spanish before the move to Europe. In italy we lived in an area where you had to know the language so we all picked it up very quickly. In Germany however, we live in an area where the locals speak English very well so matter how much I try my German they reply back in English...
  11. I currently live in Europe and have for 12 years. Dining cards are your best defense. Some more touristy spots you will find the natives speak very good English while in other locations, not so much. Barcelona should be good, we did not have a problem with the language barrier there. Madrid is whole different story. I love Spain and find them very accomidating...
  12. Oh my word, so sorry.....my brain must have been thinking one thng and typing another, pretty typical of myself but I normally catch my mistake. Thanks for that correction, I feel silly now!
  13. I have a feeling that right now my system is just a little compromised yet as so many things have been going wrong. It's been a wild goose chance to keep up with the next thing that goes wrong and I am thinking that I am in an inflamed state. However, I not not having much luck getting everything to simmer down right now. I have come a long long way in 9...
  14. Thanks for the links, I will check them out. I do take in the vits you have mentioned and unfortunately it's not enough or just not working anymore. I used to be able to control this, and I too am all for vits and against prescripts at all costs. The only thing I have not tried that I have read about is ginger and rubbing the feet with borage oil and cayenne...
  15. Yes, been dealing with it for over 20 years but it has gotten worse. I almost cannot warm up now. Feet are red (purple). I am always bundled.
  16. Good for you! How frustrating to sit on the receiving end at your doc appt. Let us know how things go for you on the gluten-free diet.
  17. For those diagnosed with Raynaud's symdrone, just wondering if you chose to go on meds and did they help? Side effects? Or did you find something else that worked? Doc is suggesting I go on a prescribed med and I am always very weary so I was hoping to get some input.
  18. Happy birthday and congratulations on five years fo progress being gluten-free. Thanks for letting me that I can look forward to some of my issues passing. Struggling right now with planter's faciitis myself.
  19. The problems with sinuses, strep and feeling like you could not keep up with the others makes me believe this is Celiac and not just a gluten intolerance. The bad thing about testing is it is not accurate. You cna find this documented in books and other literature about celiac. You can test today, tests results come back negative....test again in a year and...
  20. MeggieLynn, I followed the posts and replies here and just wanted to add. Before I went gluten-free my gallbladder, pancreas, and spleen were inflamed. My blood pressure was high (never had it before), my heart palpitations were nuts, terrible GERD, and blood calcium levels. Like you, lots of tests......docs thought it was due to my parathryoid.....on &...
  21. Many possibilities here. Here are something to think about: Other foods or additives- dairy, soy, xanthan gum, etc. Too little or too much vits. Too little iron can bring on nausea or taking too much D. Did you just go off a med? That can also create stomach upset. Having any trouble with acid reflux? Spice, acidic foods, alcohol for some, can...
  22. EXACTLY my point!
  23. Good for you Aly! I was the girl in my 20's out on the dance floor til 2 a.m. and always loved a party never a heavy drinker but loved my glass of wine with cheese and olives while preparing dinner. When I got real sick though back in Feb, if I would drink any alcohol it felt like it went directly to my bloodstream. I found I was extremely sensitive and I...
  24. It amazes me how ignorant and rude people can be. If you would have told them you had diabetes, I imagine you would have had a different response from these people. There is a bit more awareness to diabetes but unfortunately i think too many see celiac as a choice when it is not. I think the diet is viewed as new-wave fad and many do not see the importance...
  25. I have had kidney stone issues for 26 years now. I was told by doc that there is nothing a person can do for the type of stone I have, he said when he sees this is is inherited. I have 2 8mm stones lodged high in my left kidney in a dry pocket where liquids do not pass so even if they were to break them up, they would not flush out. They are in a difficult...
