ARCHIVED Mom Has celiac disease. I Suspect I Do Too
AVR1962 replied to Brittany85's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Brittany, how very odd her. My daughter, Brittany was also born in 85, and could have written your post with the exception of children. Welcome! I was diagnosed, only one in my family but I feel more people in my family have it. I think one thing you have to keep in mind for testing is that you have to stay on gluten in order to test. Not all tests... -
Bubba's Mom, I do hope you are able to get the help you need and get the situation corrected. You have been thru an awful lot. Take care of yourself and keep us posted.

One of my daughters is a red head. She had all kinds of health issues growing up and so we finally found a German nurse that was trying to help us with nutrition. She was telling us that red heads tend to be more sensative and have more health issues. At that point and time she was encouraging cultured yogurts to aide in fighting the bad bacteria. She is...

Bartfull, have you ever tried tea instead of coffee? If your system is struggling it is something to think about trying. I took a course teaching how the liver becomes polluted and then creates problems with the way the body functions. On the list of pollutants was coffee, prescript meds, chemicals in meats/fruits/veggies, food additives in processed foods...

Christen, interesting.....if the package says it contains wheat I would not eat it. The cornmeal I buy does not have wheat and I have done fine with it. Perhaps it just depends on what brand you get.

ARCHIVED Not Quite Four Weeks gluten-free, Improvement
AVR1962 replied to Avalon451's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Avalon, that is great! 2 of my 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren are also all gluten-free, not because of testing or any diagnosis of their own for celiac. They have all noticed improved health. Infact, the daughter who chose not to go gluten-free is having issues with mood and anxiety. It is amazing what they gluten-free diet can do for the body and mind,... -
ARCHIVED Heavily Glutened Thanks To Ignorance
AVR1962 replied to dani nero's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I do so hear ya! I have had the same issues here in Germany. I really think there generally is more awareness in the US. Where I live there is no such thing as gluten-free menus. When I ask waitresses or waiters they are clueless unless I tell them I have an allergy, that they get. We have BoFrost, not sure how much of Europe has this home delivery, but they... -
I'm not sure how it all works but I do know that once my gut was compromised due to gluten the alcohol seemed to make more of an inpact on my body. I have always been a lightweight while people I know could handle quite a bit, yet I am the one that is effected. What I do realize is how damaging alcohol can be to your system and while I don't completely avoid...

ARCHIVED 1 Year Since My Trip To Er
AVR1962 replied to AVR1962's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Bea thanks! I sent you a private reply. I do think it is time to find a homeopathic nurse as I am bewildered and docs don't seem to have the answers. I am so much better than before but I have to figure out what is causing the continued issues. I will try what you have suggested. Annette -
Sad, isn't it IrishHeart! My mom got so upset with family this past year for trying to help my Gma with vits and supplements, she has been slowly losing her health since Gpa passed. She told me that vits and supplements were nothing but JUNK, caps in her email! Thank goodness for herbs and vits and homeopathic thinking as medicine just does not cut it sometimes...

Thank you, and IrishHeart, for your replies. I will check out those links. The real bad thing about all this with my family is they almost think celiac and wheat intolerence is a joke. Family members have made posts on FB about thinking they might have gluten intolerence and then realized they were just fat. I have had some tell me that they heard a speaker...

ARCHIVED 1 Year Since My Trip To Er
AVR1962 replied to AVR1962's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks Bea for your response. I did try the dandelion tea as you had suggested before and it made my stomach feel sick. I tried it several times to make sure and it did the same every time. I tried Milk Thistle and did not find a difference in the way I felt. I read about the nettles when you suggested them before but what scared me in my reading was that... -
My grandmother has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma. As I am reading thru the information everything sounds like my own health except my calcium level did go down when I went on a gluten-free diet. I am planning on asking my doctor to test me for my own peace of mind. However, I was wondering if anyone knows about multiple myeloma and knows if there is...

How frustrating!!! I do hope you get to feeling better quicker than usual. Just does not seem fair at times! I live in Germany.....gluten-free products are on the same aisle as the organic items here as well. -

ARCHIVED Allergies Diminish After Awhile?
AVR1962 replied to Blue-eyed bandit's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
When I first started the diet I found I had many intolerances to foods that have passed as I have gotten better. However, the foods that I have an allergy to, it has not made a difference. I have noticed that my sinuses do not bother me as much but my skin has become more sensative to fabrics and touching plants. -

ARCHIVED Gi Symptoms And Canker Sores After Going Gluten Free
AVR1962 replied to chi1968's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It was the same for me, have not really understood it myself. There were a few things that as I look back now I can relate but nothing was just obvious and evident. I was not the typical case that is printed in textbook with all the issues with the stomach. I was having issues for the last 3 years but they were mild, I was not losing weight, if anything I... -

Thank you Bea, you have been a great help to me! I do hope one day everything will settle down! -
I drink no soda. My body was reacting to certain additives in foods and soda is loaded. I actually stopped drinking soda over 4 year ago after 30 years of drinking Dr Pepper daily, 1-3 cans. It was then I had my first signs that something was wrong and I was trying to correct what I wasn't aware of and started eliminated processed foods. I have to be careful...

A year ago today I was laying in a hospital bed, very sick and docs had no clue what my problem was. What I can say it has been one heck of a journey! For those struggling now struggling for answers and wondering if celiac could really be the culprit, you are not alone. I don't know why it is so hard to diagnose but I can tell you it will do a HUGE amount...

ARCHIVED So Hershey's Miniatures Aren't Gluten Free?
AVR1962 replied to livelifelarge24's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for the reply. For now I am just going to stay away from the choco raisins. With me, it is hard to say, I could veen be having a reaction to the riasins themselves. Crazy how various foods will effect me for awhile and then after a few months I am okay again. Good thing, is I am actually feeling evidence of healing. -
ARCHIVED Sooo Thirsty, Frequent Urination, Celiac Related?
AVR1962 replied to hspichke's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hspichke & Jswog, if you not experiencing a bladder infection it could also be gestational diabetes, less common but it does happen during pg. I had it and low blood iron with my last pg. I was real sick, lots of nausea, energy would just quickly drain my body. I started taking a iron supplement, not something the doc suggested for me. Do take a look...
