  1. I understand and I know what you are feeling. I have found I eat out alot less now. At first I was hesitant to say anything to any of my friends but once I did, they started asking me questions and I found they were amazingly supportive. I have certain restuarants that I know I can go and eat something. New places I am always cautious. Going to otehr people...
  2. Are you having any burning pain in your stomach? What happens is the gluten wrecks the villa in the intestines and they no longer absorb nutrients to the body like they should. But in the process of the wreck other digestive mechanisms also stop working properly so it is very common for new patients with celiac/gluten intolerance not be able to eat dairy...
  3. Bad thing about Chinese if they use so much soy sauce. Try Thai instead. Some dishes are made with soy sauce but not all. We go to a Thai place that has all the ingredients listed on their menu. The dishes with the coconut milk do not have soy sauce. This is how I get my Asian fix when I go out. You can buy (order) gluten-free soy sauce and it tastes real...
  4. If you have any desire to follow thru with the testing you will need to continue to eat gluten. My doc wanted me on gluten for 2 months before he tested. I also went off just because docs could not figure out what my problem was and I was sick. So many tests were ran for months and everything turned up negative. I even told the doc that my daughters were...
  5. Try to get the supplements figured out without anti-depressants first. I had a terrible time with depression for years and was on different anti-depressants but all they do is make you not feel what you actually need to feel and need to deal with. For me, I had to get my supplements to a point that my body was functioning properly. I too was low in various...
  6. I had a terrible time with acid, doc put me on Nexium 2x daily and I did Pepto shots in between. Take a look at a low acidic diet.....no citrus, caffeine, alcohol, avoid veggies such as tomatoes, and no dairy or spice. Keep doing this until the body has a chance to mend itself. I found relief from boiling a chicken and cooking rice or potatoes in the...
  7. Have you had your thyroid tested?
  8. Sure could be. You are displaying many of my same symptoms. Have you had any tests? Read! Tests are not totally accurate but that doesn't mean that you don't have celiac. Something is making your body do what it is and docs don't all have a real good knowledge of celiac, unfortunately. I, like many here, went thru years of going to docs with no solution...
  9. Only one meal a day will cause your metabolism to drop off, body will go into preserve mode. If you having troubles with hair loss, vision and nails it is very possible your body is not getting the proper amount of nutrients. If you can, try to eat a little something every 3-4 hours even if it is a piece of fruit to keep that metabolism up. Make sure your...
  10. Hello, been to Eidenburgh and had a wonderful time. I live in Germany myself.....about done with the rain here this winter but thankfully so far it has been quite mild as far as temps are concerned. Hang tight, you'll get the diet down, it just takes a buit and once you've got it, it won't seem to bad. Being off glutens makes a big difference!
  11. My husband has a bad snoring issue and yes, it does mess with your own sleep. My hubby now has a specially fitted mouth piece. He first tested for sleep apnea and there was a slight issue but not enough to have to be hooked to machine at night. He tried the breathing strips, didn't work. I was sleeping with a pillow ovber my head but still many times would...
  12. Have you had your thyroid tested? What do your vit levels look like? The body could still be in need of something you are not getting in your diet and that will set off cravings and keep the body hungry. I would be sure of where all your vit levels stand at this point and then look at other options. Keep the protein to 4-6 ounce per serving and trim all fats...
  13. I am a little suprised that your mom is concerned about your bf's celiac. I have grown children who can't eat wheat, grandchildren who are on gluten-free diets. We are just as normal as the rest of the population. I think I would be careful what you tell your mom, she might be too involved. If she is expressing this concern, I wonder if it is really the celiac...
  14. If the muscle feels crapped add a potassium supplement, eating abanabs might not be enough. If the muscle feels hard kind of like you have been running, then try adding an Omega 3,6,9 supplement.
  15. Thanks ladies, no blisters/flaking/peeling. Doc said it looks like I was sitting in the sun too long and said meds can do this. So now I am searching side effects of some of my vits. Only prescribed med I take is birth control. I did read the link Prickly, thanks!
  16. Give it time. Your body may just need more time to heal. Glad you discovered what was giving you issues. I had several foods I could not eat in the beginning and as time as gone by I have been able to allow them back in and have been fine with them. I too had palpitations which I linked to my need for vit supplementation.
  17. Odd that you mention this. Getting dressed just yesterday I could have sworn there was less cellulite on my upper thighs and the only thing I could contribute that to is the gluten-free diet I have been on.
  18. If your children are still taking in gluten, have them tested. I have 3 children and after I was diagnosed I had my youngest (15) tested. Test came back negative. I have had some concern as she deplays a bit of depression and she almost seems autistic in some ways. I spoke with the pediatrican who suggested that I not encourage the removal of gluten at this...
  19. Diane and MeeToo, what do you think was the answer for your hair loss?
  20. Could be the xanthan gum. I wasn't able to tolerate it either for along time until more healing could take place.
  21. Went to doc today, scalp has been giving me issues. Started out red and burning which then started itching. I started using a medicated dandruff shampoo and conditioner 2 weeks ago which did make all the break-out bumps go away and rather than itchy all over, it's spots. Doc said scalp looks burned and wondered if I had started a new med but I have not. He...
  22. Don't know if this fully answers your question, OR how REPUTABLE anyone will find it: Open Original Shared Link Martin Cunningham, Biochemist/Molecular Neuropharmacolog... Four common absorbable sutures are: Maxon (polyglyconate is a copolymer of glycolic acid and trimethylene carbonate), Vicryl (polyglactin is poly(D,L-lactic-co-glycolic acid)-methoxy...
  23. I felt the article made some very good points. I guess I didn't nick-pick it to death and look for every way to contradict the author.
  24. German gentleman old me today that asprin is going to "prescription only" in Germany, law to be passed soon. Thought it sounded a little crazy but know how health conscience the Germans are so I looked it up. Once you read this you may never want to take another asprin again: Open Original Shared Link
  25. For those who have been dx with Raynaud's, I have a few questions. From reading on the Internet it looks to me like there is no solution except to watch your exposure to cold? What did your doc say? I am just wondering if this is worth mentioning to my doc. I have lived this way for over 20 years. If I get chilled I will be under the covers fully clothed...
