  1. Mmmm hmm. Was just visiting with my FIL and he was telling me how my nephew is developing adult acne. I said many people discover acne goes away when they eliminate certain foods or chemicals. So he said he'll go but my nephew Proactive Solution. FIL gets it, but he wants to "fix it now" for nephew. And that my friends, is part of the collective...
  2. Did this genius suggest what the problem is if it isn't gluten? Offer any new tests? You're a smart lady. What do YOU think?
  3. What about using rice paper? Someone mentioned that before and I see them all the time. Tempting to try.
  4. I concur with Slylark. I don't have other intolerances (that I know of) but am already tired of the empty sweets and am eager to try the almond and whole grain stuff. I'm trying to figure out what I want to use. That's the hard part, for sure!
  5. Individual brands vary? Seriously. A fresh corn tortilla tastes unbelievably different from one purchased in a store. That said, heat it up before using and season the heck out of whatever is inside.
  6. Oh my goodness. So tempting...
  7. If you can fInd the ingredients.... A slice of good tomato - Roma, heirloom Slice of buffalo mozzarella 1 fresh basil leaf Balsamic vinegar Layer basil on top of tomato, cheese on top of basil, drizzle balsamic vinegar on top.
  8. Asparagus rolls-everyone loves these. A slice of good quality salty ham (Boars Head sliced thick sandwich thickness) Canned asparagus spears - I use the fancy ones but not pickled Cream cheese Spread 1-2 tbsp. of cheese on a piece of ham, lay an asparagus spear on top, roll and secure with toothpick . Cut in half.
  9. RiceGuy - Have you tried any new flour blends lately? Any new research to add to this? I love your analysis and its very helpful.
  10. Ok, I am definitely overanalyzing this. I want to order some flours for baking and want to get away from the rices as much as I can. I want to try a sorghum (superfine white) blend, but need another whole grain to mix with it other than brown rice. I need opinions about other whole grains that seem to have a NEUTRAL flavor and are versatile. What...
  11. I will definitely remember this. Thanks!
  12. Perhaps he has secondary intolerances? Milk is the #1 offender, and soy - and both can leave damage on an endoscopy if there's an intolerance. But if his blood work is high that's less likely than gluten. Have his numbers gone up or just not decreased? And perhaps he's getting into gluten when he's out of the house?
  13. If its a cold/hot thing try a cold cut (Hormel has a gluten-free, natural one). Stay away from the juices, IMO. Even with protein powder added its a lot of sugar. Try nut butters with fruit.
  14. Mmmm hmmm...I had a brief bout of it in da crack of da hiney and I must say I was a very very very temperamental girl and I showed up at the dermatologist's office that morning in quite a state. And now y'all know how I got my second shot of steroids and an rx for a psychiatric med (it was really because it was a class I, II antihistimine but he did...
  15. For breakfast try a slice of ham browned on a skillet and toss a sliced tomato in the skillet, too. It will caramelize and get sweet. Add salt and pepper. I also add fruit like an apple or grapes. That's my new fave. Nuts are great, along with a carb/veggie like sliced bell peppers, etc. just check the ingredients list in the nuts for wheat or anything...
  16. It may be a texture thing on the waffles. Do you have a Belgian style (thick) waffle maker? Eggo's are pretty thin. That said, my son adamantly refuses to eat something that isn't EXACTLY the same so I know how nuts that can make you. Geez, he wouldn't even eat crawfish etoufee in NOLA because I DIDN'T MAKE IT. But he will eat any chocolate cupcake he...
  17. I had it when I started taking supplaments d and iron. I also had it when my blood sugar went wacky. I still get it if I eat too much sugar. Doc told me it was my liver, adrenals and possibly gall bladder trying to figure themselves out.
  18. I would have laughed and said "I can have cookies, just not THOSE". Yeah, people don't get the part about glutenous foods making me see rat poison. I gave NO DESIRE to eat it. I do look at stuff and think "how can I recreate THAT???". but that's really the extent of it. Sure, there are a few things that pull at my heart strings but it just...
  19. I started to gain weight right before I got pregnant...thought it was "turning 30". I had always put it on easily but could take it off easily. After my son I just couldn't get moving (I think that was the second trigger, or nail in the coffin for me and autoimmune issues - pregnancy). I never could get back in shape and lose the last 10-15 lbs of...
  20. Yes, I've had terrible problems based in my cycle. If you feel like you're going to pass out please call another adult to come over.
  21. That would be the ultimate irony, wouldn't it? I remember one time trading to get the most ridiculous gift because I had a need for a gag gift. Ironically, something glutenous now counts...
  22. I understand. Funny how it usually isn't about YOU but about them, isn't it? I can't knock people too much, I remember the days of blissful ignorance....
  23. I'm glad that helped! Sometimes it helps me, other times not so much.
  24. Oh, try ice packs at night or whenever it really itches. I think it reduces swelling, too!
  25. I agree. Goodness, if you've tried to be tactful and that approach doesn't work you've gotta draw the line.
