  1. Do children -- say 14/15 months old --- with dh get a very high fever when they have an outbreak?
  2. There are others on here who are far more versed than I. But, having said that; I think you could well be MORE than onto something! She needs to be tested, you need to be tested & your mom needs to be tested. And ALL of you have to remain eating gluten until all the tests have been completed.
  3. Oh I'm so, so sorry. I know just how you feel. Lots of us do. Been there, done that. Quite a number of us have been put on super duper steroids combined with super duper antihistamines. Those steroids had me bouncing off the walls & flying around the room 24/7 --- no sleepy for me! Well, you can forego the dx like I did b/c there is no way on God's...
  4. What about soy? Have you eliminated that?
  5. I haven't the foggiest notion. I did a search too for Labs who do it & couldn't get anywhere --- just kept coming up with the article abstract. Ask doctors?
  6. This is the FULL panel you should have for testing for celiac. looks like something is missing. Read Lisa's post in this thread: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/92470-help-me-with-these-tesultsplease/page__pid__792784#entry792784 Looks like they ought to do the full panel on you.
  7. This is also what they say is better for detecting celiac in children. Open Original Shared Link
  8. Rant away. This is the place. I think there are just as many overweight celiacs as there are underweight celiacs. some gain weight, some lose weight & some CAN'T gain weight & some CAN'T lose weight pre diagnosis. I think a lot depends too on the stage you're at with the celiac disease. Maybe. This stuff is weird & there's no one size fits...
  9. Do you have any other issues? Autoimmune disorders Autoimmune disorders occur ten times more commonly in celiac disease than the general population. They include insulin dependent diabetes, thyroid disease, Sjogren's syndrome, Addison's disease, autoimmune liver disease, autoimmune cardiomyopathy, and neurological disorders. When both occur in a patient...
  10. I'm never comfortable with anything that carries that statement. I get nuts that are guaranteed gluten-free. And I can't have peanuts right now b/c of sals but the hubs eats Planters Spanish peanuts & it says right on the canister, "Manufactured on equipment that processes tree nuts". Period. Okay. Good to go on that.
  11. Anytime, any question Alwayssomething. And if we can't answer it someone else can.
  12. Dani is right. Cashews in & of themselves are very low iodine. Dani --- are you sure your cashews (even though raw) have not been cc'd anywhere along the line? And yes, cashews could be your problem as could any food. you know how celiacs come up with the darndest food issues. This may pass in time or it could remain -- who knows? I think it's a capital...
  13. Okay, that looks like what I have now --- after going gluten-free for some time. I still get the little water blisters sometimes which eventually turn into stuff like your photos. I went back & checked your posts so I could better understand your history rather than ask you to explain all over again but it wouldn't be a bad idea for you to do so anyway...
  14. I think it's this: deamidated gliadin-analogous fusion peptides (GAF3X) see: https://www.celiac.com/articles/21901/1/Antibodies-to-Deamidated-Gliadin-as-a-Tool-in-Diagnosing-Childhood-Celiac-Disease/Page1.html
  15. I know this is some really important info. for us & may give those of us with dh a better chance for testing & dx. I'm not that great at understanding EXACTLY how much hope this gives us though. Some of you have a better grasp of medical techno lingo &/or may be able to access the entire article. Would like comments on this. Open Original Shared...
  16. Maybe a little more time & you can have oats w/o problems. Here's hoping.
  17. Be warned that if you go gluten free as a test & then later wish to get tested & get an official dx of celiac or dh then you will have to go back to eating gluten for at least 2 months. And that's where the problem is. Most celiacs react stronger when they go back to gluten after having been off it for a trial period. And dh tends to come back with...
  18. Victory! It comes in all sizes but as the old saying goes..... size doesn't matter! Hooray for you!
  19. Thumbs up Cathy! Good work. YOU did it.
  20. If I understood Peter's post correctly........ I LOVE the newbie 101 that IH posted. I think it's wonderful & full of information. Information that we keep writing over & over & over again. I was NOT a newbie the first time I read it & it STILL helped me! IMHO the newbie 101 is something that should be pinned to the top of every single...
  21. oligold, there are other drugs besides Dapsone. None have been shown to be AS effective as Dapsone but when people can not tolerate or don't wish to take the chance with Dapsone; other drugs have been effectively used. Every drug will have it's downside but if you can't stand the dh until it gets better...... Here are some links so you can read about the...
  22. Tom, FWIW, I (hope) have just finished (fingers & toes crossed) going through weird stuff like body parts that out of nowhere swell up, get red, won't move, or you scream when you try to move them. It might last a couple hours or 3 or 4 days. You never know. One day I would drag a leg around then be fine for a week then BOOM! the back of my hand would...
  23. I can't keep still when the music moves me! And the music moves me ---- well, anytime I hear music!
  24. A feel good video for the day: I guarantee you will be amazed. She's NINETY FOUR! For all you dancers out there YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO ENJOY LIFE:) Mathilda's Solo, something to look forward to? And...
  25. I couldn't have said it better than Prickly. And be sure to read the "sticky" or pinned thread at the top of the dh forum! That will tell you how it's been documented that dh changes it's MO.
