  1. If the GI doc is satisfied with the blood panel alone then that's wonderful. If she DOES want to do a endoscopy then you will have to go back to eating gluten for at least 2 weeks prior. Warning --- many celiacs have MUCH stronger reactions to gluten AFTER they have gone gluten-free & then they have to eat it again for something like a endo biopsy &...
  2. Welcome to the club you never wanted to be a part of. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Christasky}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Ok, it's normal to mourn, be somewhat depressed & have a few pity parties. Also normal to let loose a good cry in the grocery store 1 or 2 times. It's part of the grieving process. We've all been there. I PROMISE IT WILL GET BETTER!!!! There...
  3. kellibee, you asked about high, normal & low...all that matters is that you were positive on the ttg IgA. A positive is a positive no matter how high or how low as long as it's positive. It's like being "a little bit pregnant" -- you can't be a little bit pregnant -- you either are or you aren't. Since it can not be stressed enough, I will repeat...
  4. What you are describing could be anything. If you want to get tested for celiac then you have to stay on a gluten filled diet and get the blood tests.
  5. And look at your tongue. Stick it way out in the mirror. Is there a lot of white on it especially way back? Try a tongue scraper. You would be amazed at the difference it can make in your breath. Mine (breath & the white stuff) can get very bad. My hubs would kindly tell me my breath smelled like dog doo. We couldn't figure it out -- often it was immediately...
  6. I use this: Open Original Shared Link The company is still working on their new website so they don't have all the information about gluten free on there yet but I can tell you what it said before the new website. They are a family company. They grow it, truck it, mill it, bag it all themselves. They even sew & label their own bags. All non...
  7. Go read threads in the dh section. https://www.celiac.com/forums/forum/26-dermatitis-herpetiformis/ Sorry I can't spend more time explaining. I have some crises going on in the house right now.
  8. I'm going to repeat it like a broken record...... KEEP EATING GLUTEN UNTIL THE BIOPSY IS DONE. As Darren says, don't worry about the past 4 days but start back up eating gluten NOW. You've probably been getting cross contaminated like crazy anyway. To get ready to go gluten free when the biopsies are done, you can read the Newbie 101 at the...
  9. You won't read this until you turn that computer back on but I sure am glad you turned it off! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay! I envy your being able to draw. I have zero talent in that artistic department. WELLNESS IN 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Yes, please do let us know what brand that was.
  11. This is an ongoing internet myth about wheat glue being used in tea bags. Please see: Open Original Shared Link In particular see the write up on Lipton. Open Original Shared Link The entire article is full of information but here is an excerpt about gluten in tea bags. I quote from them, " Sometimes you can tell how credible...
  12. Just reminding you there is dermatitis herpetiformis aka "the celiac rash". We're still waiting for the OP to state what celiac test were done. Serum? Which ones?
  13. Awwwwwwwwwwww, you're welcome. I'm glad I could shed some light. Now you have me crying touched, happy tears.
  14. I understand your frustration manasota. Personally, I will say to you to just take it one day at a time. Stop dwelling on it. Take each day as an individual day and don't go into it expecting any particular thing to happen. The war you are waging is stressing you to the max it seems and that alone has a profound effect on overall health. I agree that "where...
  15. I got well! I am gluten free for 4 years now & feel sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better. I don't even think I can name all the symptoms I had & they all resolved. I'll name as many as I can think of at the moment (I always forget some & after I post I think DRAT! I forgot this & this & this). No more migraines -- in fact no headaches...
  16. The BPM with the heart thing? Hello! I get glutened & up it goes. No gluten & I'm as normal as anyone else. Before I went gluten-free; my bp was rising year by year -- not through the roof or even where they wanted to put me on bp meds but it was getting close to that. After some months gluten-free my bp began going down & finally resumed being...
  17. I know. (((((((HUGS))))))) Just hang in there. I'll parrot something I have read on here often enough..... "We didn't get sick overnight and we won't heal overnight -- it takes time." I think it helps some to remember that whenever you get discouraged. I know it helped me. We are understandably in a rush to feel great and can get so caught up in...
  18. Be sure to read the Newbie 101: Follow the links contained in the thread. This will help you to keep from getting cross contaminated as well as explain quite a few things. Many celiacs have problems with soy especially at first. I did but don't have any problem with it now however I don't eat that many things that do contain soy. The first...
  19. This is another one of those internet myths that scare the dickens out of newbie celiacs. Seriously; think about it for a minute. If there were actually gluten in that plastic then we would be dead by now. Also there would be a ton of people who have anaphylactic reactions to wheat who would be dead by now. You and the secretary who orders the soap...
  20. You only have to have one of the genes as I understand it. Sanders, I don't know how to read your variants part of the report but you certainly do have the DQ2 and that's all it takes.
  21. If you go to the U of Chicago Celiac Center then they actually know how to test correctly. Yes, I get itchy -- I have dermatitus herpetiformis (dh for short) aka the celiac rash. 60% of the time those with dh test negative on the blood panel. Dh is most often dx'd via a skin biopsy but 99% of derms do the biopsy wrong. Again, if you go to Chicago then they...
  22. Nope, you're not crazy at all. You should be tested. But you MUST be eating gluten for ALL testing. I'm going to point you right back to the U of Chicago Celiac site: Open Original Shared Link AND make sure the doc orders ALL of the tests in the celiac serum panel: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA...
  23. Hi Binti, This is not your exact case but close enough: Open Original Shared Link
  24. I also welcome you both! Ian, one of my most frightening symptoms was the rage -- what I was going through can't really be termed anger - it was pure rage and it scared the hell out of me much less those around me. Funny thing is my hubs also has celiac. We found that out 5 months after myself. He had "the crazies" too. Can you imagine both of us in...
