  1. I recently found out I am one of the 8% who can't eat even certified gluten free oats. My hubs is celiac too so we have a gluten free household but he loved these Lucy's gluten-free chocolate chip cookies. They contain certified gluten free oats. When I discovered I have reactions to oats he gave up the Lucy's cookies so there would be no chance of me getting...
  2. Just to let you know this thread is over 6 years old. I haven't seen any of these posters on here in years & years.
  3. And here are 2 more: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  4. It sounds like dh to me. The way you describe it presenting & how it acts. You could go to a derm & have it biopsied IF they do the biopsy correctly --- NEXT to not on an FRESH lesion. IMHO you're getting glutened somewhere. I'm not sure how it will work with you on the bloods now since you didn't have dh when you were dx'd but those of us who present...
  5. My 2 cents. if you're that worried about cross contamination then don't eat out unless you grill the chef & manager. Even then I won't eat out unless it's a totally gluten free place.
  6. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
  7. I second these thoughts. You should probably go to your doctor & see if your blood panel is signifying dietary compliance. Go through everything you put in your mouth & re-check to make sure it is truly gluten free. Do you eat out?
  8. If the biopsy is negative I think you would be very smart to switch doctors for one who would be willing to give a diagnosis with the blood test and alleviation of symptoms once on the diet.
  9. Karma. It was meant to be that Patches & you found each other exactly when you both needed to find someone. I'm so happy for you! Not having to worry about Patches means the world to Harold. You done good girl!
  10. Christina, Bartful is right. I'm not sure you want to go gluten free just yet. 60% of celiacs with dermatitis herpetiformis test negative on the blood work. Besides, you say there is none of the IgA stuff on it like you've seen us talk about on here or other sites on the internet. That means they didn't do the full celiac blood panel. You say your NP ordered...
  11. Well it sounds like the mystery is solved & you won't be eating there again.
  12. I'm sure the other tests are done in the UK. I could swear I've read it on here numerous times. When is the gastro appt.?
  13. The IgA is the test to see if she's IgA deficient. If she were IgA deficient then it would mean she returns false negatives in the celiac bloods OR that if there are any borderline or near borderline numbers they should be given much greater weight. Some celiacs are IgA deficient but your daughter is not. I can't really figure out if the tissue transglutaminase...
  14. I agree with Colleen. Also I wonder about the bakery thing. Are the 2 sides totally separated? If not, there is all that flour flying around in the air. Where you sit to eat ~~ is it in the gluten bakery part?
  15. Kevin, I am not diabetic but I can tell you that it took me 2.5 years before I began to gain some weight back. 5'2" & I was down to 93 & at times the scale would read 91. I kept weighing & weighing & weighing & always the same low result so I got disgusted & quit weighing myself for about 4 months. Then my jeans began to feel a bit...
  16. I really do not regret paying that monthly fee for the gluten free watchdog. I have learned a lot from her. I find her to be fair and she is not biased one way or the other. She explains everything well & goes in depth as far as explaining what test they did with this or that & why it had to be done that way. When chocolate is an ingredient in anything...
  17. So I'm looking at the bloods the gastro ordered and it looks like the tests that are not back yet are the gene typing & that's all. So the gastro did not order a current complete celiac blood panel. Can we all scream now?!!!??? And the lady doc ordered the thyroid & B12 which have not come back yet. And the folate as well. As far as I could gather...
  18. jddh, I think there may be more to it than just using a test strip where "one size fits all". I am a member of The Gluten Free Watchdog and have learned much about the testing of different foods for gluten. It isn't as easy as it seems. Early on when i went gluten free I began to suspect certain foods of containing gluten & got some of the test strips...

  20. The hubby can still make beer for a living. He can still drink beer but he has to brush his teeth well before you guys kiss. Same goes for when he eats gluten -- brush well before any kissy face goes on. Please read the Newbie 101 in the coping forum so you can make sure you get all the rules down & don't get cross contaminated.
  21. nvsmom & others are much better @ interpreting bloods than I am so I will let them weigh in on that. Although her "regular" bloods look normal with the exception of monocytes which are white blood cells are a tiny bit low. What that means - I don't know. I can say that a full celiac panel is not in those reports. Does she have any dry places on her...
  22. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that today is a GOOD day with the derm actually knowing their business and you getting some answers & not coming home frustrated.
