  1. It certainly seems like they are really going out of their way to ensure the safety of their gluten free customers and to me that says a heck of a lot. I think if you went there & asked to see the kitchen & ask questions I am getting the feeling they would be eager to oblige! I say go, see, talk, ask & then EAT!
  2. Check out Larabars. I don't know if you need peanut free with absolutely no chance of cc or not but Larabars do not contain soy. They make many different flavors & they also make different kinds of bars like their Jocalat & Uber. All gluten free. Here's a link: Open Original Shared Link
  3. To help you sleep.
  4. I can't tell how how great it is that the bleeding has stopped. That was the big worry. I hope the rest clears up real soon.
  5. I'm thinking she'll be okay since it was 1 week & she went right back on it & will be for 2 weeks. Others will chime in as to their opinion. I keep thinking of symptoms I had which resolved gluten-free. I had always had as normal as it gets bp but in about 2008ish my bp began to rise for no apparent reason -- I had changed nothing about my life...
  6. Make sure to give sister a copy of the FULL CURRENT CELIAC blood panel so she can make sure the doc does ALL the bloods in it. She sounds like a celiac candidate for sure. Oh yeh, the doc jumped up & down with joy wanting to prescribe me anti-depressants. Seriously, he actually jumped up & down giggling like a school boy - I could have slapped him...
  7. No. no. no ~~~ the iodine is not for you to worry about. Only those of us with the celiac rash b/c the iodine content makes our rash flare.
  8. There is such a thing as silent celiac disease where the person has ZERO symptoms. We have several members who are silent celiacs. Here is a link to a symptoms list: Open Original Shared Link so you see it can be quite varied. I find it very interesting that the lady doc asked if anyone in the family had celiac when you were there with your middle girl...
  9. I had trouble with dairy too. I was off of it for over a year - I'll say around a year & 3 months. There were 2 reasons for me being off dairy. 1 was the gut issues & 2 was the iodine in it which makes the dh rash flare so I was off dairy longer than perhaps my gut issues needed to be. But I am happy to say when I went back to it I had no problems...
  10. Awesome, awesome, awesome!!!! Brought tears to my eyes. The good kind of tears.
  11. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Great big huge hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} I know you don't eat much processed foods at all but I would ditch them first. And I think Gemini is right in her suggestion to see a doc.
  12. How true! As I'm an avid gardener I especially relate. Great links Karen! dwhite42, I believe we celiacs are also educators in that we know therefore should do what we can to educate professionals about the symptoms of celiac & testing rules etc.... You could print out those items Karen linked & mail of take them to your dentist. I'm sure she...
  13. Please post your docs name & contact info. in the Doctors forum so future people looking for a good gastro who knows what they are doing can go to this doc. https://www.celiac.com/forums/forum/6-celiac-disease-doctors/
  14. You have been gluten free so the test will come back negative & he'll say he was right BUT unless you have been doing a gluten challenge than of course the tests will come back negative. So he will feel all superior & vindicated but he's WRONG b/c he doesn't know what he's doing.
  15. Josep, I did not see that you had the -total serum IgA and IgG (control test) done. You could be deficient & therefore your bloods come up negative. Recall that link Karen gave you? This one? Open Original Shared Link
  16. Aw Nicole. now I'm embarrassed. You give me too much credit. dwhite42, check this out: Atypical presentation An increasing number of patients are being diagnosed without typical GI manifestations at older ages. A reasonable assumption is that approximately 70% of patients with newly diagnosed celiac disease do not present with the typical major GI...
  17. Darn sure has all the earmarks of dh!!!! And the rest of the symptoms fall in line with celiac too. Okay, some good news. a) Those purple marks will completely go away in time -- there will be no permanent scarring. It might take 6 or 8 or 9 months but I've been there, done that & they do eventually go away. b(ee) She's young! The damage to her...
  18. OOPS! Cross posted with nvsmom.
  19. Tell me how the "rash" we will call it acts. Itchy? When? Stings or burns? After it heals does it leave purplish marks or white marks? Is it bilateral - echoing on the other side of the body? Detailed answers please. How long has it been going on? BTW, I have an MRI of my entire spine - there wasn't that much wrong with it to be causing me such intense pain...
  20. She needs a full & complete celiac blood panel. It is: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and IgG Total Serum IgA Also can be termed this way: Endomysial Antibody IgA Tissue Transglutaminase IgA GLIADIN IgG GLIADIN IgA Total...
  21. Thank you Scott.
  22. I'm glad you decided to go back to the gluten. I KNOW it's hard & it will be hard on you especially since you've had a "taste" of gluten free but it's for the best in the long run. Docs are forever telling people it will be okay for them to go ahead & go gluten-free & then the labs come back negative & the doc says well you don't have celiac...
  23. This says a FEW days prior is LIKELY you'll see accurate results. But you stopped on Sat. which will make it 10 days until your blood work. That's TEN days not just a FEW days. You decide. Open Original Shared Link
  24. You need to continue eating gluten until AFTER the blood tests!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. Nuts.com has gluten-free jelly beans & they have licorice & many flavors in bags by themselves so you can have only the ones you like best. Open Original Shared Link
