  1. I agree with ravenwoodglass. And if you're determined to go through with this please eat half of Barty's donuts for me.
  2. {{{{{{ Barty }}}}}}} And when I got my Belgian waffler I had a hard time finding one. Now they're all the rag. The pendulum swings Barty -- always. The question is, will we be around to see it swing back?
  3. Ruth, this is the waffle recipe I use. Gluten Free Belgian waffle recipe: 1 1/3 cups of Bisquick gluten-free pancake & baking mix 1 1/4 cups of milk 3 Tblsp. of canola oil (or oil of your choice) 2 eggs, seperated (sub chia seed for egg yolk if needed) 1 tsp. vanilla extract 2 Tblsp. sugar Put the Bisquick pancake mix in 1 bowl. In a second...
  4. Well said Peter. Our pup (now dog) was chipped by her breeder and if the breeder hadn't done it, we would have. Most good breeders will not let a pup go to a home until they have made sure it has been chipped. DO remember as LauraTX said to update the info. with the registry if you move. Do it right away.
  5. The only thing wrong with Tuna is the iodine & apparently the iodine is getting you. Ditto what icarumba said. I keep telling people this is a mental battle just as much as a physical battle. You tend to question & doubt yourself at every crook & turn. You constantly wonder if you ate something that cc'd you. The rash will wax & wane &...
  6. I use Hunt's tomatoes, sauces & paste. I use Heinz catsup. No problems. Wheat has to be labeled and I can't see where there would ever be barley in tomato sauce, paste or tomatoes or catsup.
  7. The huge question is...... did the derm take the biopsy from CLEAR skin ADJACENT to an active lesion? If not, then you will surely come up negative. So many derms do not know how to correctly do a biospy for dh and take the biopsy directly ON a lesion. Let us know what the biopsy says.
  8. kabons, here is another reason to get a dyed in the wool dx from a GP or GI. You are 20, likely you will have kids some day & since celiac is a genetic disease it's more than possible one or more of your kids could have it. If you have an official dx then it's MUCH easier to get pediatric docs to take the disease seriously & test your kids every couple...
  9. There is a new gluten-free boxed mac & cheese on the market. It's called Horizon Gluten Free Mac & Cheese. Here's a link: Open Original Shared Link We just tried it and it's GOOD! It tastes much like the Kraft mac & Cheese we all grew up with. The only thing I will say is to boil the macaroni for only 5 minutes & keep checking it from...
  10. Boy I sure wish I could go with you! Enjoy one for me!!!
  11. Here is what the U of Chicago Celiac Disease Center (1 of the leading celiac centers) says about the gluten challenge for endoscopy: Open Original Shared Link "Prior to an endoscopic biopsy we recommend 2 weeks of eating gluten."
  12. I am curious to know why you were given the celiac blood panel & endoscopy 3 years ago. What led anyone & whom to suspect you had celiac disease? You should get copies of the lab results of both the blood & endoscopy & if you would please post them here. We have people who are very experienced in reading those. It's possible you were not...
  13. I was never on Prednisone so your experience with it takes precedence. I was on very strong steroids that did not have tapering doses. One of them was Dexamethasone & I would have to look up the name of the other one. They had devastating consequences when they were withdrawn.
  14. Look in the travel forum as many have stated what is & isn't allowed on planes & have great suggestions for edibles you can take with you. Also, if you haven't already done so, then get a statement from your doctor that you can carry with you all the time stating you have celiac disease & this requires you to carry your own food so you can eat...
  15. Good suggestions Arlene. Steroids -- prednisone is one -- will make you PAY for having taken them! Sure, you'll feel great as long as you're taking them & the minute they get out of your system BAM! it's payback time in spades!!!!!! There is such a backlash it will take your breath away. I never did Dapsone. I am allergic to sulfa drugs & it...
  16. Always, always, ALWAYS have take along food with you. In your glove compartment, in an insulated bag - ALWAYS. Kind bars, Lara bars, gluten-free granola you make yourself, raisins, apples, nuts, chips, cookies. You can carry chicken you made yourself, hard boiled eggs, carrots, celery etc... b/c you never know when you're going to get "stuck". Soups in a...
  17. Ohhhhhhhh crap! Oats. We recommend staying away from oats for the first 6 months at least if not the first year. Many, many people get oats back but just have to stay away for a while. Now, having said that, there was a study just recently released -- here is a link: Open Original Shared Link Both my hubs & myself are fine with oats thank goodness...
  18. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sorry this all happened to you & yes, sorry to say this is what we hear from people trying to get a dh biopsy. It's insane. It makes no sense. They will NOT listen. They botch it at every crook & turn & WHY IN HELL 90% OF ALL DERMS can NOT learn that not EVERYTHING is biopsied ON it is infuriating!!!!!!!!!!!!! I...
  19. VERY happy things!!!!! How touching & considerate.
  20. Reactions aren't always immediate -- neither the gut kind nor the dh kind. It might take 3 days or even a week. As far as dh goes -- it can wax & wane at will eating gluten or not so it's really impossible to gauge if you've gotten into some gluten or not. So the derm wouldn't do a biopsy? You still have your appt. for UC? The derm is an ass. DH takes...
  21. Hang in there Nolev. It can take a while & the rash can wax & wane. This is why it's so very critical to be absolutely sure you aren't getting cross contamination & why I tell everyone with dh - especially in the beginning - NOT to eat anything you haven't prepared yourself. This is a mental battle just as much as a physical battle & you don...
  22. Crystal, I TOLD you that you HAVE to be eating gluten -- a full gluten diet --- right up through testing. That means you HAVE to be eating gluten for the dh biopsy. You can NOT go gluten free yet. You will get a negative on the dh biopsy or on celiac blood work.
  23. Oh my! What a wonderful thing! Congrats to her & to you Auntie Alison!!!!! Woooooooooooooooooooooo Hoooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope she walks away with it hands down. Huge smiles here.
