ARCHIVED Questions: Skin Biopsy Of Dh
squirmingitch replied to irish11's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
A dx of dh is a dx of celiac disease & no further testing is needed. From the U of Chicago Celiac Disease Center: "A skin biopsy should be done on a non-affected portion of the skin near the rash when there is an outbreak. It’s not necessary to perform an intestinal biopsy to establish the diagnosis of celiac disease in a patient with DH; the skin b... -

I agree with chocominties & bartful. I have been gluten free for 3 years & have had zero accidental glutenings for the same reasons they have not had any. They had excellent advice for you. -

I understand your frustration IN FULL! And I'm sorry to say that I seriously doubt your HMO derm will do the biopsy correctly. It looks like you've been doing your research & you know the odds of getting a false negative on the blood test as well. I hear you and I understand your entire rant & you are justified in it. But bottom line is bottom... -

ARCHIVED Chef That Wants Your Feedback
squirmingitch replied to allergiescooked's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Thank you for the information! It makes a difference that a gluten eater has tasted and can recommend a gluten free item. I made the dinner rolls today that I had spoken of in an earlier post on this thread. They turned out fantastic! We are both very happy with the results. There are no objectionable flavors and the crumb is perfect. I intend to post... -

Both my hubs & I have had flu shots every year & never had any problems. In fact, this year, along with the flu shot we both got shingles shots & we are fine.

Biscuits, I crave biscuits, baking powder biscuits. Ones that don't taste like beans or like birdseed (millet) or like brown rice. Ones that don't leave a bad aftertaste. My hubs would like ones that don't taste like nuts (almond flour). I made my own biscuits from the time I was around 13 (will be 58 in a week) and I have been unable to get anywhere close... -

squirmingitch replied to Scott Adams's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
Just this afternoon something odd has happened to me. I'm on a Mac using Safari browser. Every thread in the DH forum is showing green buttons even though I have read them all ~~ no blue buttons appearing in any thread. I tried reading one then exiting the site and when I came back the button was again green even though there were no new posts to the thread... -
ARCHIVED Progesterone Exasperating Dh?
squirmingitch replied to lilybean's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Hormone levels can affect dh flares or outbreaks. It's not all in your head. it is well known that pregnant women can suddenly break out in dh seemingly out of nowhere but it was there lurking all along. it's just that the pregnancy hormones triggered it. Sooooooooooo, it's not all in your head & yes, hormones affect dh. -
ARCHIVED Weigh In On Psyllium Husk Powder
squirmingitch replied to squirmingitch's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thanks Ruth. Yes, I know but my hubs is like having a 5 yr. old when eating. He hates sorghum & quinoa flavors. Almond meal is okay but he complains that "it tastes like nuts". Me, I just want to smack him & tell him to get a grip. Sigh.- 5 replies

ARCHIVED Weigh In On Psyllium Husk Powder
squirmingitch replied to squirmingitch's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thanks! I have the same book myself. That's what put me onto this. Here's the problem..... Their flour mix calls for some brown rice flour & my hubs just despises anything with brown rice flour in it. He does that lip curl thing you know. Any suggestions what to replace that with? We both hate millet flour & the bean flours btw.- 5 replies

ARCHIVED Blood Test Results Questions?
squirmingitch replied to jamie101's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't know what you mean by milk & soy showing up on blood test results. I have never heard of any blood tests for milk & soy & "normal" numbers on those. Celiacs have trouble with dairy b/c the tips of the villi are where the lactose in the dairy is broken down & dealt with but that's the first part of the villi affected & degraded...
