And it's people like this who are largely responsible for the eye rolls we get when we say we have to eat gluten free. The extremists who are a couple bulbs short of a full pack. Heck, I would roll my eyes at her!

ARCHIVED Top Bar Not Working Correctly
squirmingitch replied to squirmingitch's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
OK. Thank you both. i will try those & see what happens. I doubt it's browser add ons as I have none & I don't download software. I'll report back what happens. -
99% of the time the top menu does not work when I click on anything there. I'm talking about the bar at the very top -- the one that has Messenger, Notifications, and my account information/access. This has been happening for some time now -- a few months. It is increasingly aggravating. I will see that I have notifications but when I click I get nothing...

ARCHIVED New, Waiting On Blood Test Results
squirmingitch replied to Syrena1022's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
IF you have dh (the celiac rash) you should be aware that 60% of the time the celiac blood panel returns a negative. Dermatitis Herpetiformis (dh) is best dx'd by a skin biopsy looking for dh. This is taken on CLEAR skin adjacent to a fresh lesion. You MUST be eating gluten until the testing is complete just like with the blood test. Also, when you get... -
I'm so sorry. I hope they don't last long.

ARCHIVED Recently Diagnosed, A Couple Of Questions Regarding Cancer
squirmingitch replied to Spakoleum's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
YVW! Be sure & read the Newbie 101 thread in the Coping section. There is a lot you will need to learn about how to properly eat gluten free and protect yourself from cross contamination. Ask questions any time. There are no dumb questions. Okay? -
ARCHIVED Halitosis And Body Odor...feeling Embarrassed...please Help!
squirmingitch replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
As to the question of the BO ~~~ I have always had a problem with very loud BO. I can get out of the shower & within 5 minutes have bad BO. This is what takes care of it for me: Shave your pits every day if that's what it takes. I find the tiniest growth of underarm hair has the effect as if I had a forest growing in there. Mitchum antiperspirant -- nothing... -

ARCHIVED My Blood Work And Endoscopy Biopsy
squirmingitch replied to vickiguerra's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ditto what bartful said. EVERYTHING she said. Your tastes do change. It does get easier in fact it will become second nature. Yes, a lot of ailments will disappear but it will take time & you are bound to have ailments that aren't celiac related & don't disappear. I was never a real junk food junkie but i did have my junk foods i liked and one... -
No but derms dx dh as scabies all the time. While you're there you should insist on a dh biopsy. Make sure it's done correctly as 99% of the time they do it wrong. It MUST be taken from CLEAR skin ADJACENT to a fresh, active lesion. Print these out & take them & give them to the derm so they will know how to correctly do it. Open Original Shared...

You can go to a derm & get a skin scraping which they look at under a microscope to see either a mite or the egg. If they dx by looks alone, they may be wrong so if you want to know for sure make sure they do a skin scraping for the scabies.

ARCHIVED How Can It Be Gluten Free Cookbook
squirmingitch replied to Zebra007's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Well that sense of humor will take you a long way. That's the spirit! I told my gluten eating friends how fabulous the coffee cake was as well as sent them photos & they were drooling. And then I told them it had 1.5 cups of sour cream & a whole stick of butter in it & 1 was drooling all over her keyboard & the other was bemoaning the carbs... -

ARCHIVED Super Itchy Rash Going On 4 Years Now
squirmingitch replied to Chefwife8's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I don't know the reason it's worse at night but we all report it is. I've never seen any medical information that even makes a guess as to why it's worse at night. Some people with dh have speculated that it's because our minds are not busy. We aren't working & keeping our minds occupied which allows us to dwell on the rash more. In a way it makes sense... -

squirmingitch replied to Chefwife8's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Oh sure it does! Maybe I didn't make myself clear. When I quit the steroid pills -- even getting off them so slowly --- the rash came back. What I was trying to describe was that there is a rebound to the rash that many of us experience from the steroids. Yes, I was totally off the steroids and still had rash for --- well, I still have rash 3 years later... -
ARCHIVED Super Itchy Rash Going On 4 Years Now
squirmingitch replied to Chefwife8's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I have done super duper steroids, the kind that have me bouncing off the walls @ 3am feeling like I could single handedly build a house from the footer up in one night. They got rid of the rash and the very moment I stopped them the rash came back with a vengeance like you wouldn't believe. I went through several cycles of this (all prior to knowing it was... -

This is exactly the way I feel about the book. And when I first got it I was so intimidated & overwhelmed that I did exactly that --- I set it aside for a while & every once in a while I would flip through it. Then one day months later I sat down & really, truly began reading it and all those little pieces I had glanced at during those months... -

Once again mitchgam, dh is not & does not cause a systemic histamine reaction. An allergy is a histaminic reaction dh is not. -

Are you eating gluten free? If so then you need to go back to eating gluten for at least 2 months. No oral steroids or steroid shots for 2 months before the dh skin biopsy. Print these pages out & take them with you to the derm. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link -

I think you will be able to leave off the dry milk powder in the bread & dinner rolls & sub a non dairy fat like coconut oil for the butter & it will still be good. They do give you subs in the book - just go to page 17. -
Mars makes M&M's & here is a link to their allergen policy: https://www.mms.com/us/legal/allergen.html This is the most up to date ingredient list I can find online as i do not have any peanut butter M&M's on hand to actually read the label.
