  1. I have a stupid naked tree. In a box. In my closet under my stairs. I was supposed to make a roast last night but got around to my peanut brittle late and then... well my roast is still sitting in it's package today judging me. I have some potatoes to use up, I'm sure I'll think of something to do with them. I'm working today and there is snow and ice...
  2. I think we're all sufficiently disturbed now. Seriously though, when I hear "lifestyle" what I hear is "hip" "trendy" and "choice." None of these apply to me. I am also most certainly not on a diet. I don't think I have ever written the words gluten free on my shopping list. As for using it when I talk to people? When I need to. Someone once got...
  3. My husband isn't on a pump, he does injections but it isn't much of a difference besides he has to do math. He also has a tendency to wake up hypoglycemic and had surgery about 5 years ago. We were quite concerned, although they didn't say they would reschedule if he were high. We had spent some time talking to the doctor and hospital staff about it before...
  4. I am simply gluten free. Is this the kind of stupid crap people really debate over?
  5. Woohoo!!! I'm pretty excited about cookies myself these days. I finally went and picked up the Nov/Dec Living Without that has cookies on the cover. Flip back to the recipes and there is a picture that could have been taken of my grammy's ginger cookies. I started to cry. I won't be making them until the weekend but I thought I'd live the rest of my life...
  6. Before going low iodine I went to Wendy's on a pretty regular basis. It is my go to place if I am out and absolutely have to eat. The chili is fine, the potato needs to be uncut. You need to request that they put on clean gloves before handling your food. It is never enough when dining out to order gluten free foods, we must always request special handling...
  7. Mission are the only brand of tortillas I will buy. I use both yellow and white corn tortillas depending on my mood. I tend to be rather sensitive and have never had a problem.
  8. Oh, I remember. I'm still debating what to do for my birthday. Tiramisu... pink champagne cake.... key lime cake... just go out for red velvet cupcakes... I don't know!!! I'd have all of them but someone hasn't come through on the muumuus yet.
  9. I'm not sure how things may be different in England, but here in the US we pretty much get handed a piece of paper by our doctor and sent on our way to choose our own pharmacy and get our prescription filled. Our doctor really has nothing to do with anything at that point besides authorizing refills if needed. Most don't really give a crap what is in our...
  10. There has been at least one occasion on which I have called a company about a drug and been told that they consider their product gluten free in the same breath she told me that an ingredient in it is sourced from wheat. The medication is on the gluten free drug list. I call every manufacturer, every time. This is the simple reason I never fill a prescription...
  11. The cheese is simply listed as having cream, cultures, enzymes and salt. Exactly what it takes to make cheese. My problem is most assuredly not A1 casein. I drank like a quart of milk and feel pretty much fine. I think I'm just going to attempt to shrug it off at this point and try to fit more pieces if/when I get that sick again. Until then it will remain...
  12. My MIL has asked over and over for a "perfect" holiday, most notably Christmas. My husband is one of 4 kids, 2 live far away (not reasonable for holidays far) and a sister lives nearby. That sister was horrid to both of us before we were married, tried literally everything to get us not to get married and clearly stated how much she can't stand that her brother...
  13. As pointed out, some people have issues and some don't with soy. My issues with it aren't exactly at the level of "intolerance" but simply are linked with another health condition and I'll be trialing it soon to see if it effects that condition or not. From what I understand it can, in that way, impact many conditions. There are some people who tend to...
  14. Not exactly buying the paragon of innocence routine. Sorry.
  15. Yes, but in the US, finding a diary supply with exclusively A2 truly is rare. Which is why I stated it the way I did. I'm fortunate to be surrounded by so many small dairies that do organic farming with breeds that produce A2. So I can always get Jersey or Guernsey milk non-tainted by A1 if it is truly my problem. I'm currently waiting to get sick enough...
  16. I love lamb. Bear? Now there is greasy gross animal. Blech, my dad can keep those to himself if he shoots another. Yuck! I agree that elk is good, moose too.
  17. I'm setting myself up for a bad night but I think I may have pinned the nose on the donkey! So, out picking up supplies to make massive quantaties of peppermint bark I finally said to myself that I can't live without the current issue of Living Without because it has cookies on the cover. (By the way when I saw pictures of what look just like my favorite...
  18. That is so stinkin' cute! If I had a real job I would totally get one.
  19. You'll get over feeling poorly yes. We all do. We'll get over our frustration too. But will you get over having written that sentence? Don't lie.
  20. My neurologist advised that to stop eating such a limited diet and because it is rare that someone will have an extensive trigger list that I begin trying foods and see what happens. He said that the very small amounts I would get from things like sauces and such would be ideal as long as the are the only untested trigger ingredient. Cheese was probably going...
  21. A note in addition to everything Takala said, which is all good advice. Make sure you keep your emergency kit where you can get to it. If, under the worst circumstances roads are really bad and you slide off the road and other people are too, you don't want to be getting out and fishing in the trunk. You want to be able to get to your stuff from inside your...
  22. Okay, I can now that I'm pretty confident there is nothing wrong with the Riega cheese packets so.... enjoy. There is also something very wrong with me. It has been just over a week since I ate the first mac & cheese and exactly a week since the second time. I was thinking about it all day and had decided that I was pretty confident that the issue...
  23. Relying on an allergen statement is not enough. Not only does it not cover possible CC it does not cover barley or rye.
  24. My husband has one of those flashlights. He thinks I need one too. I'm like dude, if you seriously think I'd rather crank that than be in the dark you probably never met me.
