ARCHIVED What Do You Feed Your Babies?
loraleena replied to siouxsie's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I work with pregnant women and infants in their homes offering support around nutrition, breastfeeding, development and parenting. I recently came across an article by a local naturopath named Mary Bove (She has several book). You can google her and read her article on introducing solids to infants. Anyway she says that children born into families with... -

ARCHIVED Is Ibs Common With Celiac?
loraleena replied to JulesH's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
IBS is the number one misdiagnosis for Celiac. It is a garbage can diagnosis for when the doc does not know why you are having stomach issues. -
ARCHIVED Questions About Labs
loraleena replied to JustMe75's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There are false negatives. You may also want to consider that your child is not celiac but rather gluten intolerant. You can have her get a stool test through enterolabs. Or, you could just put her on a gluten free diet and see if there is a change in her health. -
There is a Carabas and an Outback steakhouse with gluten free menus. Also nearby in Easton is a pizza place called Manny's which has wonderful gluten free pizza and pasta dishes.

ARCHIVED My Dr. Prescribed Zelnorm

Beware of Zelnorm. It has been pulled of the shelves in the US due to serious side effects. I agree, try the elimination diet. -
ARCHIVED Against The Grain
loraleena replied to jerseygrl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I work in Brattleboro Vt. so have been enjoying these since the day they arrived. My non-celiac son loves them more than any gluten bread he has had. He requests that he wants my bread all the time. It is costing me a fortune. Anyway the baguettes are the best and make great pizzas. My son and I are going to try the pizza crust soon! I think you can... -
ARCHIVED It's Not celiac disease, So What Could It Be?
loraleena replied to threedee's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You can be gluten intolerant even if you don't have celiac. This can cause just as bad health problems. Get a stool test from enterolabs. You can be gluten free for this test. -
ARCHIVED Positive Serology Negative Biopsy?
loraleena replied to sandyrn0224's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Sandy its loraleena from over at ICnetwork. Why don't you ask your doc for the old results and post them. If you have positive serology you have it. Like I said the damage to your gut may be minor right now, but continued eating of gluten will slowly chip away at your health as it may already be doing since you have IC and other issues. You could always... -
ARCHIVED What Do I Do With This Information?
loraleena replied to JustMe75's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The blood tests have a lot of false negatives. I would have them tested through Enterolabs for gluten intolerance. Intolerance can reak havoc on our bodies even in the absence of celiac. It is a stool test. -
ARCHIVED Elimination Diet Gone Wrong?
loraleena replied to misdiagnosed6yrs's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I agree with the last post. The mayo might not be gluten free and some can't even tolerate distilled vinegar. Get rid of the oats, they could be contaminated. Also margarine is toxic! It is made with hydrogenated oils which are extremely bad for your body! Stick to butter or try raw coconut oil instead. Have you tried taking digestive enzymes before you... -
ARCHIVED Grain Free Diet?
loraleena replied to holdthegluten's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You are better off getting omega 3 from fish oil (cerified mercury free) than eating tons of seafood. If you eat seafood stay away from farm raised (full of pesticides) and stick to salmon, and white fish. No tuna steaks or swordfish! Don't eat much tuna from the can except tongol and limit that. -
I also have celiac, hashimotos, interticial cystitis, and fibromyalgia. All autoimmune!

ARCHIVED Positive Ana Test Twice & Positive Scl-70 But No Symptoms.
loraleena replied to kristinexdee's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Any autoimmune disease can cause an elevated ANA, so if you have celiac that can explain it. -
Get rid of nightshades and try msm, glucosomine and choindotin(don't know how to spell). Nightshades can cause arthritic and fibromyalgia symptoms. No tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, or potatoes.

ARCHIVED Cooking Oils
loraleena replied to mak07's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The only oil that does not become a carinogen when heated is coconut oil. Only buy organic unrefined raw coconut oil. It is a potent anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. Olive oil is good cold but not heated. -
ARCHIVED Am I Inhaling Gluten?
loraleena replied to misdiagnosed6yrs's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Being someone who has severe chemical sensitivity triggered by an exposure to toxic fumes, I would recomend you where a painters mask regardless of whether these items have gluten. -
I had heard at least 3-4 hours after antibiotics. Then, make sure you take them for 2-3 weeks after the antibiotics stop.

ARCHIVED Great Dining Experience In Western Mass.
loraleena posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I just went to the Eastside Grill in Northampton Ma. for my birthday. I called ahead and they said all the waitresses are trained and have a book with all the ingredients for every entree. They knew all about gluten free. I ordered a dish with chicken and scallops in a chardonay butter with garlic mashed potatoes asparagus and mushrooms. Yum! The waitress... -
Any autoimmune disease can cause an elevated ANA. I have it, but my lupus tests were all normal.

Your B-12 is low, and the TSH range your doc is using is way out of date. The normal is .3-3. I urge you to get your thyroid peroxidase antibodies checked. See my above post.
