ARCHIVED Ideas Needed For Salsa Alternative...
1desperateladysaved replied to justlisa's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I am enjoying mango salsa. I just put mango in the blender and wo-laa. Once I put in Cilantro and it tasted more like salsa. NOTE: From painful experience remove all of the peel off the mango before blending. -
What A Difference A Day Makes. "mommy You Are Big."

I noticed upon awaking today that my tongue, abdomen and thighs were swollen. My tongue was also dry. I dunned my gloves and mask and rewashed the dishes from last night. I just didn't feel secure that there wasn't still gluten clinging to them. I am glad that inspite of the swelled up feeling my mind seems clear still today. The family got out... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Challenge - Swollen Lymph Nodes In Abdomen?
1desperateladysaved replied to Will29's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I just posted about abdomen bloating. I am not sure where lymph nodes are down there. I hope someone can tell us something about it. My tum can bloat quickly; that I know. Sometimes when I smell mini-donuts frying. -
ARCHIVED Bloating Up

I ran quickly away. I feel the glands in my neck swell. For me I think it is probably the vinegar. My body hates fermentation. The dog no doubt had a bun too, but it was the mustard that I smelled. One other reaction to a whiff of vinegar that I had: nausea weakness swelling fatigue If you are coming to my house for dinner please... -

I don't go near their feed. Last time my husband helped in its grinding I reacted to being near him. I always use a new stick of butter. But there are other cooks in the family. I will watch that. -
ARCHIVED How Do You Tell If It's A Virus Or Gluten?
1desperateladysaved replied to dcns65's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If it were me (very sensitive) I would think that it was cross contamination for sure. It would be too difficult in a floury bakery to keep the cake seperate enough for me. I hope he isn't that sensitive, but if he is you need to bake your own or find a bakery without gluten flour at all. If it is a virus/sickness either someone else has had it or will... -
ARCHIVED Bloating Up
1desperateladysaved replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
What causes bloating? Is it gas? Is it intestinal? Is there anyway to speed healing? I do think I need to get a grip on my allergies? Reacting even a little to walking by a hotdog stand seems too much. -

No, they were natural hotdogs without preservative. -
Deliverance Has Certainly Begun.

My first blog never quite got in before it was gone. I worked so long and hard at it that I couldn't start over. Someday, I would like to put it in. But for now, I am jumping in here. Four months gluten free: Things are going a bit better with the family. They are cooking foods which I can't eat/smell outside. My husband is starting to notice... -
It looks like I have been glutened. I reacted at the store to smelling mustard on a hotdog. I have a problem with vinegar which I suspect caused that. Next I brought home some gluten free hotdogs and grilled them. About 4 hours later I noticed the bloat. That was also when my family was wrapping eggrolls in the kitchen, so I am only guessing what did...

I don't know, but can you grow some for next year? I grew a kind without hulls. They are Syrian Hulles. They grow well. The plants take alot of room. But without hulls they were easy to process. I feel sure the stores must have this variety or another like it. Hopefully. You will find some for this year. Diana -

I am trying rinsing the birds better before cooking. Other than that hopefully it was my butter and not the chickens. We don't butcher; we have too much city left in us for that. Diana -

ARCHIVED Still Finding It Hard
1desperateladysaved replied to Ebonyjade93's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
A friend raises quale for eggs. She said that their eggs have a different protein and some people can tolerate them instead of chicken eggs. I hope you or others can try this out. I hope you have some good indicators if it is a problem. I used Spelt and Kamut for years instead of wheat thinking I was okay, but I wasn't. -
ARCHIVED Interesting, Gluten Topicals Reaction? :o

I think it can be absorbed through the skin. It also is possibly breathed in. I hope the reaction will be short. -
ARCHIVED Back After Being Gone A While
1desperateladysaved replied to txplowgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There is nothing like desperation to help keep one in line. Sorry about the pressure that was on you. I am experiecing some of that, but it is starting to change. I feel better enough for others to notice since I have been gluten free 6 months and grain free 4. You have some rather observeable problems. I can't wait to hear about them resolving.... -
ARCHIVED I Keep Developing Food Intolerances!?
1desperateladysaved replied to Maryw88's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I am thinking that your body is developing new intolerances perhaps, but now it can tell you what is bothering it. There are many foods to try. I think I get a more varied diet with each thing I rule out. Your body may still be in transition. I know I can't tell withdrawl symptoms, from reactions, from ? I am thinking with time you will be able to... -

I am sorry that you have suffered with this. I am happy that you found out, because now you can do something about it. I remember when I was giving a spelling test and would fall asleep between words. I expect you have some memories like that. I made it past 40 before I found out. I have been about 4 months grain free and classic gluten free 6 months... -

I react to almost every bar of soap that I buy at the store. I mean even at the natural food coop. I used to use Dove soap, but I had eczema at the time. Also, I don't think it cleaned me well. I make my own soap. My eczema went away about the same time I started making soap. I can't guarantee that the soap caused it because I also had started a supplement... -
ARCHIVED Help! I Might Be Reacting To Our Home Grown Chickens

We have been raising chickens for several years. Recently we have been feeding them wheat and soy. It was high in protein and relatively cheap. But I have been noticing my rash appearing after chicken dinners. Does any know what we should feed them? I will say that we let them graze, but they need more than they can get out there on their own. Any... -

ARCHIVED Just A Little Vent But Advice Would Be Apprciated
1desperateladysaved replied to moose07's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have noticed that I judge my family (as negative) when they express the same ideas as I am feeling. We just want to be free to eat what we want. We don't want to have to consider our food so carefully when we leave the house. We want it to be how it used to be. For me it is easy to see that eating gluten is not worth it, but for them they don't...
