  1. I live in Westchester (Tarrytown), and work in NYC. I've been to a couple meetings sponsored by the Westchester Celiac Group.
  2. LOL!! I thought you'd appreciate the shout out. Here are the ingredients: Ingredients: Evaporated cane juice, sweet rice flour, tapioca flour, arrowroot flour, cocoa, cream of tartar, baking soda, xanthan gum, salt, rice milk powder. And I also figured I'd attach the link to their site. Open Original Shared Link I've been eating cake...
  3. I eat it all the time. Never had a reaction to eat. I usually get it along with a baked potato with butter and break pieces of the potato of and put it in the chili. (I know it would probably make more sense to put the chili in the potato but I like it better this way). - LOL!
  4. I know there is quite a large support group in NYC, but unfortunately I don't know anything about it. Maybe look on Celiachicks and see if there is any info, or just Google NYC Celiac Support Group.
  5. Someone had made a cake for me with Namaste once and it was incredible, so I promptly went and and got a bag of the mix to keep on hand. I decided to make myself a cake the other night, with vanilla frosting. If you haven't tried this mix yet it is a must!! First off, it couldn't be easier to use. All I had to do was add oil, water and eggs.. mix it and put...
  6. I thought I'd share with everyone a delicious, incredibly easy snack that I've eaten since I was a kid. All you need is sour cream, your favorite fruits (I usually use banana, strawberries, blueberries and peaches if they are in season). Cut up the fruit add the sour cream and add a little bit of sweetner and you have a yummy treat. A lot of people do...
  7. Has anyone had +/- experiences with any of the cruise lines and their accomodating for gluten free. I have been on a few cruises prior to dx (including Royal Caribbean). My sister just asked if we would want to go on vacation with her an her BF and we're throwing around ideas one of them being a cruise which I feel like would make eating less stressful, and...
  8. As well as the ones already mentioned, Legal Seafoods has a gluten-free menu. Boston Market doesn't have a gluten-free menu but if you e-mail them they will send you a list (I had one but accidentally deleted it). Their regular chicken and most of their sides are safe. Maybe pick up a copy of the Triump Dining Guide. It lists tons of restaurants in every...
  9. You can't give up. The first couple weeks are the worst it gets. It's hard to learn how to eat all over again, like you're a 2 year old. But you can do this. We all know it stinks to give up some of your favorite foods, but I promise you are going to find new favorites. I've tried so many things that I absolutely love that I never would have tried had I not...
  10. OMG I totally had an experience like that at a deli my by CT office. I only come to this office once a week and one day had gone to some random deli in Wilton, ordered a lettuce wrap sandwich, told him to please make it on a paper so it doesn't touch the counter, don't cut it in half, etc. I went back a couple months later and was completely floored when...
  11. LOL!!!! Funny you should say that because I was kinda thinking that myself! I mean I'm not one of those people that needs to bring someone along shopping for their opinion, or get everyone and anyones approval before breathing (I have friends like this and it drives me nuts sometimes), but I just really wanted the damn cookie, knew I shouldn't try it but...
  12. I'm thinking I'm not gonna try them. I also err on the side of caution. And I do react badly if accidentally glutened. Not even so much with DH, but I get really intense pains. They do say Wheat Free, so this company is one of the more consciensious (sp?), but I hear what you guys are saying. I just wanted them so bad.
  13. I called and they said they do not consider them gluten free because of the oats. When I told her that oats are "technically" now considered safe she said she knows but some people can not tolerate them. I asked if she knows if people on a gluten free diet eat them and she said judgeing by the questions she gets she assumes that people who can tolerate oats...
  14. I think the last gluten item I ate before becoming gluten free was a Crumbs cupcake at bakery in East Hampton last 4th of July weekend. I happily sat on a bench and ate my devils food cupcake with oreo bits on top knowing this was going to be my last. (I had gotten my blood results back at that point and was still awaiting the biopsy results, so I figured...
  15. Ok I don't want to start the great Oat debate again, but would you eat Country Choice Organic Oatmeal Raisin cookies? I bought them just now and tried calling the company to see if they consider them gluten-free. There are no wheat ingredients, only oat ingredients.
  16. I would take lots and lots of EnerG Sesame pretzels!!! That is one of my favorite things for when I'm starving and just need something quick to tide me over until I can have a meal.
  17. I'm planning on coming from Westchester. Let me know what booth you will be at so I can come say hello. I'm super excited for this!!!
  18. I just tried a delicious Tomato with Roasted Garlic Soup from Pacific Foods. It tastes just like Campbells Tomato soup. I found it at my local Stop & Shop in the healthy food isle.
  19. I've been wondering the last couple weeks if I may be developing Rosacea. I noticed my right cheek seems to be really blotchy lately, and I've been breaking out a lot. How do I know if I have it?
  20. I self diagnosed myself with H Pylori a couple years before I was diagnosed with celiac. I basically looked up my symptoms online, went to my doctor and told him to test me for H Pylori. The blood tests confirmed I had it and then a GI did a endoscopy to double check and was then treated for H Pylori. To bad the retarded GI who did my endoscopy wasn't smart...
  21. Good to hear you guys had a great time. There is another steakhouse near you that I had a similar positive experience. Pace's. We went there for DH's holiday dinner for work back in December. Open Original Shared Link I didn't find them that helpful when I called on the phone ahead of time so I was a little worried, but when I got there the experience...
  22. Sweet Baby Ray's for me.
  23. The Met is where I got engaged So ofcourse I suggest this. LOL! Check out this site to see if there are any street fairs while you are intown. I love going to street fairs on a lazy Sat. or Sun. Open Original Shared Link
  24. OMG I'm so full!! We went to Risotteria for lunch today. I ate an entire pizza, a ton of breadsticks, a meatball and I brought a cookie back to work which I just polished off. I think someone is going to need to roll me home tonight!
