  1. Barty, I saw all the same things as you and no baking mixes. I wonder what she's eating Colleen
  2. I immediately think cc is the problem. Colleen
  3. Nicole, excellent explanation of how symptoms may become more obvious. Colleen
  4. Just finished listening to Dr. Amen. Is there any wonder why I love this man. He literally saved my sanity. Colleen
  5. I'm going to chime in here because I believe attitude is everything. Food has so many emotions attached to it. Who doesn't love ice cream? Who doesn't cringe at sour things? We attach an emotion to the foods we eat. We can be social with food, caring with food and passionate about food. I decided to look at food like medicine. I take thyroid meds...
  6. Hi Alexis Rose and Welcome to the Forum. You mention both eczema and hives. Do you have both or are you using the term interchangeably? For the eczema, has there been improvement since going gluten free and have you looked at the DH photo bank to compare? For the hives, its odd it happens when you go to bed and is gone the next day. It almost sounds...
  7. I think it's kind of obvious what your trouble is. You seem to be getting glutened regularly enough to keep these reactions going. If in the next 6 months you feel you will be able (from a money standpoint) to see the Doc then start eating a regular gluten diet now so Celiac testing will be accurate. If you feel that you know that gluten is the culprit...
  8. Hi Zeco and welcome to the Forum. Have you considered having the Celiac blood panel repeated to see if you have brought your numbers down. It could tell you if you are still getting cc'd regularly enough to be producing antibodies. If you are still producing antibodies you may not be absorbing nutrients from on-going damage. Colleen
  9. Sometimes I wish we could get a "Brain Block" when we know we are about to do something stupid and yes, talk to us instead. Colleen
  10. I feel I must remind Celiac's that cooks, servers, chefs or anyone else in the food industry is not responsible for what we choose to eat. If someone chooses to eat in a facility that is not entirely free of gluten then you are taking a chance that you will cc yourself. It really doesn't matter is the server is well informed or nice or indifferent. For...

  12. I have been disappointed thus far with the summit except for Fasano. There are to many "could be" might be" "I think" and "it's possible". I call that stuff bull s$#&e. I worry about a whole new group of "Myths" coming from this summit. Colleen
  13. (snickering) Abbs found her new home Some of our other resident Nuts like Nuts from Nuts dot com. It is not surprising to find another Nut has found her namesake. Enjoy your new Nuts Colleen
  14. Give that little Shitz some cottage cheese My toy yorkies practically do back flips for it. And I only mention cheese because American Cheese freaks me out. Anything formed, molded and made to look like something is just weird, lol. Colleen
  15. You really need to be 100% gluten free. You don't actually have to buy special food. You have to eat cleanly and prepare your own meals. Have you read the Newbie 101 thread yet? We can most likely help you clean up your diet and help you avoid cc issues. Colleen
  16. So glad to hear your done with testing. What relief you must feel. Mark the day as your gluten-free Birthday, we celebrate those around here Colleen

  21. Diana, I feel there is a great opportunity in this Forum to help the newly diagnosed members cope with the new way of life that is gluten free. They are following in our foot steps and our experiences and knowledge can be invaluable tools to them. It also offers great benefit to us all to keep learning and finding ways to evolve our own diets to benefit...
  22. My Mom and her Hubs live in Hawaii. They came for their visit this summer. They are cooking savants and always cook when they are visiting and it would be their first visit since I started gluten-free. I must admit, I was a bit depressed at the thought that I would not be able to enjoy food they made. My brothers and I all host them for different weeks...
  23. You have your "glass half full" people, your "glass half empty" people and then those of us who are happy to have a glass Perspective is everything !
  24. The "B" word. Buffet = so many ways it can be contaminated that my head is spinning with the countless calculations needed to trace back every single person who may have contacted my food. But that's just me
  25. Hi Gh0st and welcome to the Forum. We love psychotic rambles First off, there is no range of sensitivity with Celiac however there may be a range of the severity of symptoms. Celiac is an Autoimmune Disease so if you ingest gluten, you will have an autoimmune reaction causing a myriad of symptoms. ANY amount of gluten will cause this reaction so you...
