  1. I am so sorry Noel for the hardship that you and your son had to go through. I am sending you many Hugs. I was diagnosed about 40 years ago with UC. Over the next couple of years it went away. Before it disappeared, I was in the ER several times and put on so many drugs to control the pain. Which leads me to believe that it was not UC but probably...
  2. That is great news Ashley. Sorry you are having a colonoscopy. I am going to have another one before the end of the year. The prep for it is the worse, but the procedure is not much at all. Let us again know what you find out. Hugs.
  3. I also don't know the answer, but I to want to say CONGRATULATIONS.
  4. I will also say a prayer for her.
  5. I hope they are not identical twins - he he. I agree that it is great that you have boys that want to sing. Maybe they will grow up to be able to carry a tune in the shower. Do you have time to run out to PF Changs and eat all their gluten filled appetisers? I so miss those. I don't miss the twinkie but miss those. I am glad that you had such...
  6. You did not bore me. I though it was very interesting. I agree with what you said and also with Tarnelberry. It does sometimes come down to money. Dr. Fine might be the real thing. And if he is waiting for patents, then they take time. But, if that is the reason he has not published then it is a shame as people may be suffering needlessly waiting for...
  7. CONGRATULATIONS on your wedding and also on the wonderful gluten-free wedding cake. Can you post a picture of the cake?
  8. Yes Ashley, you have to ask about each med at the pharmacy to make sure there is not gluten in the pills you will be taking. Some pharmacies don't know the answer and you have to call the drug manufacture to find out. There are also some links on this forum to check the gluten safety of drugs. I have a couple of doctors that write two of the meds on the...
  9. Welcome Ashley to the forum. I will definately send you the Tinkiyada pasta if you have Celiac. As far as what to ask the doctor. I just got off the phone to your Mom and I agree that you need to ask about what the levels were on the 3 antibody tests. Now to my wonderful opinion on all of the tests. I tested positive and only slightly on the one...
  10. I had to hit refresh to see Susan. How beautiful you are!! OK if we are talking about how we met our spouses, here goes. We met in a Country Western bar in Great Falls, Montana on March 22nd, 1963. He was sitting at an extended table - the same one my parents and I were sitting at. I passed hubby as I was coming back from the potty and the first words...
  11. I don't like the Rampapo (sp). I think the Bard's Tale is fine but too heavy for my personal tastes. Even tho that is what I will be drinking for the next month (New Grist is not here yet). I have had several of the New Grists in Las Vegas and that is the one I like the best. And like Guhlia said it is more of a light beer. So, it would depend on your...
  12. I have been lucky enough to know someone who's father plants his own wonderful garden here in AZ. She called me a couple of hours ago to come by the bank and pick up some FRESH (picked last night) eggplant. I have never cooked eggplant in my life. I have eaten it and liked it, but I don't know what to do with it. So can anyone tell me some EASY ways to...
  13. As far as the books. I understand from the oldsters on this forum that the gluten free bible has a lot of misinformation in it. Living Gluten free for Dummies is suppose to be wonderful. I have two here to loan out, but have not taken the time to read them. The writer of the last book is highly respected. Now, I will welcome you to the forum. Keep...
  14. Yes I am kidding. And if I meet her, I promise not to bring up marriage. HUGS.
  15. The shrimp pizza was awesome. I loved the white sauce. Now that I know Picazzo's is only 8 minutes from Whole Foods we will go there more often. I went to get a Bard's Tale beer out of the frig and the first one I grabbed was only half full. At the cost of this beer, this one is going back to Whole Foods. Hopefully I won't get a collection of 1/2 filled...
  16. When I called Boars Head, they said all of their deli meats were gluten free. But, there were only a couple of them that were corn free. I was calling about the corn, but we did discuss the gluten.
  17. Young missy my foot. I am probably old enough to be your Mother - will maybe your MUCH older sister - He He.
  18. Rusla, how did you know
  19. I own two of the books to loan out to friends. I still have not read my copy, but I understand through this forum, that it is a wonderful book.

    ARCHIVED Eating Out

I agree with Kari. I don't work in the restaurant field, but I have had some wonderful expierences with chefs. Bronchbux, tired of doctors and I were eating at Kokomo's for the first time and the chef came out and was all excited about cooking 3 gluten-free meals for us. He also created a gluten-free desert and we had not ask for one. It was fabulous...
  21. Tanya that is such great news about Megan. At the rate she is improving, you will be posting to us in about 1 1/2 years (that is what the time will seem like), that she is going to her first day at kindergarden. Hugs and prayers still coming your way. And thank you for posting ever so often about how Megan is doing. Yes, we all think of her as "ours"...
  22. I don't think it is from quiting smoking. I quit a few months ago and I had smoked for over 45 years. I did not have a metallic taste in my mouth and the taste of food did not change. By the way I quit by the help of a hypnotist that my GP referred to me. This was not an ordinary sesson, but cost me $300 for 3 hours. I had my doubts and she knew it....
  23. Before I got sick I did it all. But, he really has done a complete turn around. Does the garbage LOL, helps me with dishes, makes the bed (not to great, but he tries, etc. But, before he retired he used to work anywhere from 80 to 110 hours a week and that is why I had to learn how to do things or at least know how to dial the phone to get someone out...
  24. Is there anything special I do to make cream cheese icing. I really thought this would be a great recipe to take to someone's home for Thanksgiving.
  25. When I did not recover the way we thought I would (my hubby and I and not the doctor-he already had that figured out), I asked hubby if we could downsize. He finally agreed. He did not want to at first as he had built me my own mini resort in our backyard and it really took some talking to get him to realize that it was just too much for me to worry about...
