  1. And the crowd goes wild..."New Pic, New Pic, New Pic" Don't leave us in suspense, Susan! Happy to hear it has worked out. My aunt lives in CO and is really into beading. She teaches every so often at conventions and such. She has her own line of beading note/greeting cards. Patti-so what are you thinking of doing to your hair! Cold is still in...
  2. Leading Celiac experts recommend that all first degree relatives (that means children, siblings, and parents) be tested for Celiac. So, no, you are not going overboard. Celiac is a genetic disease and it is worth testing all family members!
  3. Can someone give me an overview of symptoms of Lyme?
  4. I'm right there with ya. But sometimes, you have to go through the "bad" feelings to get to a place of good feelings. (I say this as I am craving chocolate something awful, and am reacting to it.) Ugh. Good luck with the mayo, etc.
  5. Shalia, Feel free to pout. And even as you go on, you'll probably still pout now and then. But, you know this because you are gluten free. Check out spectrum organics. I think they have a non soy based mayo. I think its canola based. Laura
  6. Can you do nuts/peanuts? I used to eat those a lot-they were very filling for me and really helped with the feeling full part. What about gluten free crackers or pretzels (dipped in a sour cream or cheese dip)? Those might keep you fuller, longer.
  7. who did you order the test from? Its good you are being tested. Celiac is genetic, and leading Celiac experts recommend that ALL first degree relatives (siblings, parents, children) are tested for it.
  8. These are the things that we never thought we would have to think about when we were diagnosed with Celiac! What a strange world we live in. Couple thoughts run through my mind, although I'm sure you've already thought of them. Can you call the family and discuss your concerns? Talk openly with them, explain the situation, see the response. They...
  9. Wow. I'm sorry you were given such medically incorrect advice. Celiac is Celiac---you don't outgrow it, nor can you re-introduce gluten. I highly recommend reading Dr. Peter Green (From Columbia University, and a leading Celiac physician and reserach) new book, Celiac Disease: A hidden epidemic. It is a fabulous book that really explains Celiac Disease...
  10. Susan- Oh my gosh. You poor thing. YOUR POOR HAIR. Waiting anxiously to hear about it. I had a hair disaster a few months before my wedding. Yes I said wedding. Talk about sheer panic, so I can completely sympathize. Can't wait to hear about it! So today was my last day of work at my "old" job. Cried. So sad to leave some of my friends! They have...
  11. Except for BW3s (which I used to looooooove), every wing place we have checked out all fries their wings in fryers that fry other gluten containing ingredients (usually breaded appetizers). I don't know anything else about Domino's menu as I haven't eaten there in years, but just wanted to put that risk out there.
  12. Many people end up developing numerous food intolerances. Count me in the group. You also might want to try doing it first thing in the morning (so you haven't eaten anything else and you know its the milk/lactose/casein that is causing the reaction). It might be multiple foods, or may only be one. Good luck, and let us know what we can do.
  13. I believe the consensus on this board is that um, bodily fluids, are safe. However, make sure that he has brushed his teeth/rinsed, etc after eating gluten free food for kisses!
  14. Yes, you can be glutened through a toaster that has wheat crumbs all in it. Its referred to as "cross contamination" (i.e., safe ingredients, but prepared in a way that has touched gluten containing source." The same goes for butters, mayos, dips, etc (they need to be used exclusively for only gluten free food...so if there is double dipping, it is SAFE...
  15. Hannah, I'm sorry to hear you are going through this. We have all been in your shoes (the uncertainty) in some ways or another. Good for you for standing up for yourself. You are your own (and sometimes ONLY) best advocate. We'll be here to help. Read some of the articles on celiac.com that describe how serious Celiac is. Read Dr. Green's book, Celiac...
  16. Carla is correct. Barley grass is on the list of official no-nos. https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-01106318717.0e hope that helps. Sorry bout that one! At least you know now, though.
  17. That is great! Its amazing how well kids hold up and he probably won't remember much about it. Life goes on. Its always us adults that worry! Happy to hear everything went well. Let us know the results. xoox
  18. Shalia, I sympathize with you. I'm so sorry. Soy is awful for some of us! Check out enjoy life foods chocolate chips. They are dairy, gluten, soy free, etc. They are delicious!!!!!! I can't tolerate them anymore because of other food intolerances but they are wonderful. I used to eat them like candy, and bake with it, and melt and put on fruit...etc...
  19. banana- https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-44106251741.5d hope that helps. You know you are a celiac when you know where every bathroom is in every restaurant in a 25 mile radius. of your house. of your parents house. of your in-laws house. (etc)
  20. Stef- Worst comes to worst, two of the leading Celiac physicians/researchers are within a train ride from you. Dr. Peter Green at Columbia University in NYC and Dr. Alessio Fasano at University of Maryland, Baltimore (and their associates). Hope that helps, at least some. best of luck. Laura
  21. try www.kirkmanlabs.com - they make vitamins that are gluten (and other allergen) free. I like them a lot. also, www.gfsoap.com makes gluten free shampoos, soaps, conditioners, lotion, etc. Is everything safe from cross contamination in the house (i.e., no double dipping in butters or mayos), no crumbs, not using the common toaster to toast 'her' food...
  22. I started using aleve because some of their products are corn free (hard to find meds that are safe for all my issues) Open Original Shared Link you can click on the different products and it tells you the active/inactive ingredients. hopefully that will help you with some of your decisions, at least in terms of aleve. good luck!
  23. check out gfsoap.com for gluten (and other foods, including casein, etc) free soap, liquid soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc. Because of my multiple issues, I've started using them. They test to be gluten free and none of the products they make has any gluten in them. Hope that helps some!
  24. 2boys4me, agreed. Thank you for expressing that well!
  25. That is what the celiac.com list says. I'm sorry, I should have clarified that it is made in the USA.
