  1. hey nancy-let me add my thanks as well! I will be in touch with both of you when my potential new jobby job works out....i really appreciate you posting!! welcome to the board---this will be a great resource for you and we are happy to have you here. xoxo
  2. jenn-by the way, give us some examples of things that you fix that are "normal" and someone on here can tell you a gluten free version...sometimes it is as easy as switching the brand of something. Mexican food, italian, casseroles, chinese, thai, american.....you name it, we can eat it. Just takes a little bit of tweaking....some more than others....but...
  3. jenn-velveeta is gluten free. Kraft is a company that states they will always clearly list gluten containing ingredients. You will learn to read ingredients well and will know if it gluten-free or not. On the other hand, if there is ANY doubt, DO NOT EAT IT. "Assuming" in terms of gluten free is almost just as bad as not reading the label (and that was...
  4. Am super busy at work, but I HAD to post. We are here to help and I'm happy you found us Buy some Tinkyada gluten free noodles. They come in all sizes/types. Spag, penne, elbows, etc. Lots of health food stores, many grocery stores, and online. They are everyone's "favorite" noodle on the board. We use them in my house just like regular noodles...
  5. Do we have any other nova residents on board who can give a recommendation? Please? I might be moving to nova soon and would also appreciate someone's experience with Celiac docs up there. Thanks.
  6. Canteveneatrice--- I feel like I am in the same boat with you...I am still determining my intolerances, but no matter what they are---it just doesn't make sense to me. I have been gluten-free/dx Celiac for 2 years now. In the past six months I began having troubles and now think that I have multiple food intolerances. I'm guessing it has something to...

    ARCHIVED Eating

homemade chicken salad-super easy and yummy!
  8. Natlay-I unfortunately don't have the time at the moment to write all that I want, but wanted to let you know I have been in the same boat ..... and unfortunately am again due to other undiagnosed/unidentified issues. It sucks and it hurts our feelings! I just wanted you to know that there are others who understand....xoxo
  9. there is no tablet, but there are two lines of research in the "meds" area: one for an enzyme (along the lines of a lactaid) to help digest the gluten/gliadin, and the other that potentially prevents the autoimmune reaction from occuring (much more complicated than that---the company is alba therapeutics and is co-owned by Dr. Fassano.... www.albatherapeutics...
  10. Celiac diagnosis (and have one celiac gene and one gs gene), extremely sensitive, even to minute amounts of cross contamination. Often start to feel the effects within 30 min or less....the longer I am gluten-free, the quicker and harder they come. Last for days to 1-2 weeks. Yuck.
  11. Age 25 and tomorrow is my 2 year gluten free anniversary!
  12. Becky-I'm so sorry about your loss. Your symptoms sound like either a glutening, another food intolerance (either temporary or permanent), or just the fact that you aren't fully healed. What are some of the foods/brands you are eating? Maybe we can help. Best of luck.
  13. is your son eating restaurant food at all?
  14. the rule of thumb i use (because I am extremely extremely sensitive) for EVERY SINGLE DARN LITTLE PIECE OF FOOD 1. ingredients --- are they safe ingredients? are there any questionable ingredients? if so, call and determine. If you feel the ingredients are safe, proceed to # 2. If there is any question or you don't have the label, etc. DO NOT EAT...
  15. babe-there are many celiacs on the board here who practice some 'variation' of what you do! For those that it is an option, it seems to work well as long as we are careful about cross contamination (i.e., drinking out of glasses not the big wine that might have been dipped in). I'm happy you have found a method that works for you!!!
  16. let me add my strong no.....I can tell you very specific "glutenings" from "shared oil" and they are not pleasant. think of it this way----a lot of people use the analogy of rat poison. Would you eat something that rat poison had been fried in? (i.e., gluten to us is rat poison. this analogy works for a lot of different things including cross contamination...
  17. babe--- i'm sorry you are not feeling well! I know you are a relatively new member---remind us how long you have been on the gluten-free diet? Maybe that will help some. hope you feel better in the morning!!!!!!!
  18. the drinking part sucks, i used ginger ale and that helped. i also drank it with a straw---so it wouldn't touch my tongue as much. keep it cold-lots of ice-that helped me. i hate warm liquids. i had mine just a few weeks ago and it was fine. if i hadn't known that there had been someone rootin' up there, i never would have known
  19. Jules- Just wanted to offer another voice of "been there, done that, got the gluten free t-shirt". It is a tough road and we can all sympathize. We are happy to have you on the board, even though it is under the guise of this disease! We hope we can help....and in no time, you will be writing to a newbie, "I felt exactly the same way....but don...
  20. Thanks, Andrea! I appreciate it. Hope you are having a great night. xoxo
  21. as a pennsylvanian who now lives elsewhere, i must say---I don't miss the PA alcohol/liquor system AT ALL!!!! guhlia---i am happy they will be carrying it for you! how exciting! enjoy a nice cold one
  22. That is quite the feat! I know you must be proud of yourself---and we are too! Congratulations to you!
  23. babe-welcome to the board. you will quickly learn that most people on this board know more than the average doctor and nutritionist! have you tried tinkyada pasta? it is a gluten free pasta that almost everyone on this board LOVES. we serve it to guests and no one knows the difference. they sell it at some grocery stores, health food stores, and you...
  24. Lisa-hope you are feeling better. Let us know! I second the carbonated beverage. I drink cokes a lot and it always helps! Sometimes a little too much. My husband refers to me when I let out these burps as "Sexy Laura"
