  1. Anemia from low ferritin and low B12 is pretty common among celiacs, as is the low D... That's more symptoms on top of your joint pain. I thought I wasn't a celiac either, until I ordered a Biocard home (ttg IgA) test and found out I was. LOL I would push to get tested if you think that will help you stick with the gluten-free diet for life. Joint...
  2. As a child, I remember being curled up in a ball on the couch after many meals because of the pain... and nothing helped it go away, I would just lay there for 30 minutes or more until it finally faded. As an adult, I learned to suck it up, but I wouldn't wish it on any little body. What you describe was definitely one of my symptoms, including the "C...
  3. I haven't experienced that symptom myself, but perhaps someone else will chime in. I wanted to say good luck with the celiac and thyroid testing, and make sure you keep eating gluten until your testing is done.
  4. It could be a matter of time too. I've had pretty bad joint pain in the past; the kind where it's difficult to hold a pen, and it hurts to carry a couple of paperbacks in a bag. I'm not sure if it was caused by celiac or other autoimmune problems (I have Hashi's and suspect another) but my joint pain has improved a great deal lately. If it was caused by celiac...
  5. I felt a bit worse the first few weeks from withdrawl, or just getting used to slightly different eating. Hang in there. I bet it will pass before March hits.
  6. I just saw you aren't feeling well. Yuck. I hope it passes soon. I wanted to mention that I've had something like this lately too. For a few weeks I felt a bit "carsick"/motion sick thay gave a odd pressure behind my face. That went away and I started getting bad stomach cramps. It was the old raw gut feeling, along with cold chills, that I used to get...
  7. could it be a virus? I am going through something like that. I barely felt sick but my stomach hurts like I've been glutened when I eat anything, including a glass of water. I'm assuming mine is a virus since it has gone through my house (my boys threw up once, and have had a decreased appetite for over a week along with some soughing and runny noses).
  8. Daimyo makes a good shredded cheese substitute. It melts well but needs more mixing than regular cheese would. I've used it on pizza, on chilli, and on noodles. You could try it on a gluten-free/egg free noodle with earth's balance (instead of butter) and a milk alternative.
  9. I doubt ceilacs would a have a problem with sugar absorption like they do with fats. Sugar is one of the fastest to start being absorbed, it actually starts in our mouths and then continues down the digestive tract. I'm guessig celiac might have some affect, but not like it does on fat and protein. I have heard (but I can't remember is it is from good...
  10. Eggs are a problem for many people. Up here in Canada, we have labelling laws where processed foods must list any of the tope allergens/intolerannts on their nutrition label, and egg is one of them (along with soy, milk, peanutes, tree nuts, wheat, mustard, and (I think) rice). It does seem a bit funny that she says her tummy hurts only when eggs are...
  11. I used to take Gas Rx and ibuprofin myself. I hope someone else can help.
  12. I'm sorry you've been feeling so poorly. You story is similar to mine. i had many of the same symptoms, deveolped hypothyroidism in my early 20's (wasn't recognized though), and my oldest son has Aspergers (which supposedly no longer exists ). Are you sure was the anti-endomysial test that was done? I ask because (and I am far from an expert) I thought...
  13. You definitely appear to have some type of gluten intolerance, it's just a matter of which one. Non-Celiac Gluten Intolerance (NCGI - that's one your can say to people and they probably won't question it... especially if you say it fast ) or celiac disease. Many of your symptoms sound familiar to me too. Gluten intolerance symptoms are generally the same...
  14. Yep, definitely celiac symptoms. I had many of those myself. I also had the cold with a borderline TSH for well over a decade. i was sure I had hypo problems but I was always told that I was within range. I did't realize that the range up here was too broad (0.2-6.0) and that the TSH doesn't tell the whole pictuure. If I had had more thyroid tests, and...
  15. Are you free T4s and Free T3s in the upper end of the normal reference range? I've heard it said many times that people don't feel right until their Free Ts are in the 50-75% range regardless of what the TSH says. Remember, your TSH is just what your pituitary thinks of the situation after being told what to do by another hormone (TSI ?) and another gland...
  16. a lot of people around here have dairy allergies too, although I'm not sure if it's more than the general population. I do know that more celiacs have lactose intolerances than the general population, problems with casein are common too. I personally have a lactose intolerance. When I eat dairy I get a stomach ache and gluten like symptoms. I've never...
  17. Hi all, Lately something has bothered my stomach. At first I thought it was just a stomach virus that is going through my house but now I think it is a food sensitivity. I've had the raw stomach pains, the bloating in my gut, and I'm getting weight gain and bloating elsewhere too... I'm beginning to think it's gluten but I'm not eating anything new so I...
  18. If he has a true needle phobia, forcing the issue will not help a bit. Imagine having a spider phobia and being forced to allow a large spider to crawl up your arm, while three nurses hold you down ... It's not going to happen. Buzzy is a vibrating device thatstimulates enough other nerves that when used, kids often don't feel the shot. It could help...
  19. Yes! I had migraines about half of the time and now they happen only a day or two a month! Yay! My migraines did get worse before they got better though; I went through a withdrawl for a week or two and that migraine was a doozey... but it was also my last multi day one that I've had in 6+months. I hope you find relief.
  20. My fatigue was not helped when I went gluten-free, but I found out I had hypothyroidism and that kept my energy lower than most. Could that be affecting you too?
  21. Mine is the upper abdomen; a little to the left side
  22. On the topic of supplements, try taking B12 and D sublingually for better absorption. It could help. Going gluten-free only helped my stomach aches, bloating and headaches. It may be helping my joint pain (it's improved over the last month) but it's too early to tell (at 7 months gluten-free). All of my other symptoms seems to be thyroid related. Metabolism...
  23. Everyone gave you great advice, so I won't repeat it. I do want to add that you might consider getting your adrenal gland checked out. Untreated autoimmune disease (or undertreated Hashi's) can do a real number on your adrenal, which controls many of the hormones in your body (stress and sex hormones). You might want to have it checked. Your hypothyroidism...
  24. Was it just IgA or one of the celiac tests: ttg IgA or EMA IgA or DGP IgA? ... The doctors made this so confusing.... LOL I believe elevated ttg IgA levels can be caused by things like e.coli, Hashimoto's, and a few others but it usually points to celiac. I thought it had a specificity of about 80% but I just found an Open Original Shared Link. That means...
  25. Usually a weak positive is a positive celiac test. There are some other diseases like Hashimoto's or e.coli that can cause a positive ttg IgA but it's usually celiac. I think of it like a pregnancy test; if you had a weak positive, chances are that is 9 months you'll have a baby but it could indicate hormonal problems or an ectopic preganacy... it's just...
