Character was the main reason for my choice of canditates.
-
Exactly. It doesn't matter to me if we have a black president, or a woman. I honestly feel this country is ready for either one. The problem with this election is, it was based on the color of his skin, and not his character. From all I have learned about the content of his character, we are in big trouble. Many people were afraid to vote against him...

I think you are wasting time arguing. Dr. Fine has made his place in the gluten intolerance world. Even if he doesn't have published work for peers, he still has excellant info out there. He does research gluten intolerance, which is a good thing. Obviously, he has a huge spot in the celiac/gluten intolerant world. He is helping people, and that is what...

ARCHIVED Wheatware?
darlindeb25 replied to Tim-n-VA's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I wouldn't use them, I couldn't, not knowingly anyways. It's just the thought. On the other hand, there are many vitamins that have wheat grass, or barley grass, and we are told there isn't enough gluten to harm us, yet some still react. Of course, you would not be eating the plates. If they are paper plates though, and you have something on the plate... -
ARCHIVED Flu Shots, Mercury, And Leaky Gut
darlindeb25 replied to frec's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
This is a very hot topic among people everywhere, especially in this forum. You will receive all kinds of answers. Some believe flu shots are wonderful, some don't care, and some will not ever get one. I am in the last group. My sister, celiac also, and a dietician in a hospital, gets a flu shot every year. I had a visit with my PCP a few weeks ago... -
ARCHIVED 1 Week Of Diarrhea
darlindeb25 replied to odcdinah's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am and was the opposite. I rarely picked up viruses, if my tummy got upset, it was from something I ate. After 8 yrs, I still rarely ever get a flu bug. A sore throat for me is usually allergy related. Yet when I do get glutened accidentally, I am sometimes sick for months. -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Else Have A Problem With Instant Yeast?
darlindeb25 replied to cam'smom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
When I used to make bread, I did find instant yeast that stated gluten free on it. Some of us do react to yeast. I found gluten free bread to be too heavy, and generally did not feel well after eating it. It may have been because of the grain for me, I can no longer eat grains. I think you can make some breads without yeast, try that, or, look for gluten... -
ARCHIVED Does Stress Aggravate Your Digestion?
darlindeb25 replied to celiacker's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you feel dairy is not bothering you, I would eliminate soy, and see how you feel. Soy is the 2nd worst intolerance in celiac's, I believe. I did very well gluten free for a few years, then I started having problems again...it was soy, and to this day, I can not have soy. Corn can be a huge factor for some people too. Eliminate one thing at a time and... -
ARCHIVED Ambien Cr
darlindeb25 replied to darlindeb25's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have found myself a celiac pharmacist, how cool is that??? She called the Ambien Lab too and got the same answer as me. She says not to take the med, and I will not. My doctor will have to come up with something else. Ambien is gluten-free, but Ambien CR is not. They will not verify it safe for us. -
Yes, some people are much more sensitive than others, but, that fact does not mean that one person will have more damage than the other. Two celiac's can both eat the same thing containing gluten, one may have an immediate reaction, and the other may not react for hours, some do not even know they have been glutened. Yet, they probably both will have the...

ARCHIVED Ambien Cr
darlindeb25 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone here take Ambien CR. I just called the company and they will not say it is safe, and I know I have heard others say they take it. I don't want to take it if it is not safe. Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Why Did I Have To Figure This Out?
darlindeb25 replied to Spruey Stuey's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think, if we took a poll, you will find the majority of us figured this out before the doctors did. It's true, doctors are not trained to watch for this, maybe now they are, but they haven't been. Two of my sons had their doctor look at them and say, "You are not a celiac, you don't look like one!" Do we have 2 heads? A doctor can not just look at us... -
Now that is just ridiculous! Your doctor needs to study up on celiac, or you need to find a new doctor. Celiac does not care what color your hair is, or your eyes, or if you have anemia/weight problem, doesn't seem to care where you live, or who your ancestors are. I have very dark brown eyes, and many of my celiac friends have brown eyes. I also was...

ARCHIVED Alvine Pharmaceuticals Reports Positive Results
darlindeb25 replied to patriceo15's topic in Publications & Publicity
I had read this earlier and I think it's wonderful for accidental glutenings. I however, do not feel it's safe for a celiac/gluten intolerant to feel it's ok to use this type of med and then go ahead and eat gluten. We will never beable to safely eat gluten. There is much testing to be done to prove this type of product...years and years, in my opinion... -
ARCHIVED Help! Can't Find Fexofenidine!
darlindeb25 replied to gflooser's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Here are some phone numbers to try. You always should call the lab making the med to check for gluten status...most pharmacist's do not know. Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. Elana Holzman, 972 (3) 926-7554 or Teva North America Kevin Mannix, 215-591-8912 -
No, a celiac/gluten intolerant is not disabled. Celiac is very controlable, as long as you remain gluten free. Sometimes, a person will go years and years without a diagnosis, and may have many other problems because of the delay in diagnosis, yet it is very rare that a person is disabled. Do you honestly think you need a handicapped sticker for your...

ARCHIVED Vent - Apotex Pharmaceuticals
darlindeb25 replied to GFmonkeii's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Now that's really passing the buck. There is no way for your doctor to even know what ingredients are in that med...not gluten anyways. I would ask the doctor to write the script for something else. -

ARCHIVED Ringing Ears And Hearing Loss
darlindeb25 replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Well, if your family isn't having trouble hearing each other, than yeah, that doc is useless. I too, must ask others to repeat things, and I honestly do not think everyone in the world mumbles, except for us! I work for a doctor, and when there is a group of others talking, I can't hear on the phone...how would I get a wall behind that??? I too... -
ARCHIVED Ladies, What Facial Wash And Moisturizer Do You Use
darlindeb25 replied to cat3883's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I love Dr. Bronner's Peppermint soap. I have to be very careful when I use it though, it tends to burn my skin, if it's on me for a minute too long. I love the scent! I had a store manager once tell me she used if for her headaches. She would use it to wash her hair when she had a bad headache, and I know peppermint is good for that. I can't use it... -
ARCHIVED Any Body Had Shingles More Than Once?

ARCHIVED Ringing Ears And Hearing Loss
darlindeb25 replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Life certainly is an adventure! When the ringing first started and was driving me crazy, a person told me to get earplugs to sleep with. He said it was the best thing for him. Well, for me, all they do is contain the noise inside my head and intensify it. At that time, I was walking the beach a lot and wondered if maybe the wind was causing the problem... -
ARCHIVED Ringing Ears And Hearing Loss
darlindeb25 replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have very mild hearing loss, and terrible constant ringing in my ears. My ENT could not find any reason for the ringing. Sometimes the ringing makes me want to scream, sometimes I can block it out, but it is never gone. My ENT did say it's possible that malabsorption may have caused it to happen...I may never know. I do know it's not from loud music... -
