  1. My dad was the best feed man in our area, he mixed the feeds himself. He had his own recipes and yes, cattle feed does contain wheat, oats, barley--all those things we can't have anymore, including a few others. Maybe the cattle were sick because it was a green crop still, that is possible, anything is possible. Now I realize I probably made myself sick...
  2. I was at my highest weight before going gluten-free and I was sick most of the time. After going gluten-free, I did lose weight, yet any time my health takes a nosedive, my weight goes up. Doctors will not listen to me, just keep telling me I would feel better if I lost weight. They can't or won't try to understand there is a problem causing this. I watch...
  3. I always use Arabian coffee, I do always make sure that it is 100% coffee though. Flavored coffees can contain gluten, not usually regular coffee.
  4. You take great pics Jerry, I love looking at them. I love the pic with the stars swirling.
  5. To begin with, The Gluten Connection, is a wonderful book. Dr. Sinatra only wrote the foreword in the book, the rest was written by Shari Lieberman and there is a lot of very good information in the book. Please do check it out, I am not sorry I bought it. Thank you so much Doll for wishing you could help me. Now, I can afford the test and I do...
  6. Thank you everyone!!!!!
  7. Doll, truthfully, I have heard more false negatives than anything else. Spikemoore--I totally agree with you, there is a lot more that needs to be known before this disease is understood. The gold standard for diagnosis is flatten villi, for now. That's only because they haven't discovered other ways of testing, as of yet. Even endoscopy is not...
  8. Well, I thought canola oil was safe too. From what I understand, the problem is cross contamination. I have read an articles about canola oil by Dr Mercola, he doesn't like canola oil, but does say it is safe. These 2 sites have different opinions: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link I do not know what to think anymore. I haven...
  9. Firstly, in Michigan, I have a very good friend who is a cook in a county jail and those people eat very well. I also have a son who has been a "bad boy" and has spend a little time there. He never complained about the food. I have been reading "The Gluten Free Bible" by Jax Peters Lowell. When someone asked him about gluten-free food in prison, he...
  10. I think it is wonderful that those of you with diagnosis' found good doctors, yet there are those of us who suffer the same disease and never found a doctor who listened or didn't have the funds to pay for needed tests. There is no doubt in my mind that I am a celiac too, yet I do not have a piece of paper that says so. My sister is a diagnosed celiac and...
  11. You should really discuss this with a doctor, you can get too much iodine too and cause other problems. Open Original Shared Link From this site, I found this:

    ARCHIVED Wow

I agree Ursa, I like the blue too, we all need color in our lives. There is enough black and white in the celiac world!
  13. New question Jerseyangel. I was just reading in Carlson's site and Dr. Mercola even says their cod liver oil is the best. Do you take the capsules and how much do you take?
  14. Is cod liver oil the same thing? Do you take it in place of the Omega 3's? My doctor's office is absolutely useless with these questions. Thanks!
  15. Thank you Tarnalberry--It's not the Vitamin E at all. I can't have soy and I have not found a fish oil capsule that doesn't have soy too. I have found gluten free ones, yet they contain soy.
  16. My doctor says I should be taking fish oil. The problem is, I can't find any without soy. Do any of you take it and have you found any soy free?
  17. Always call and ask when you doubt anything or simply do not buy the product. It the label does not specifically state the allergens in the product and I have any doubts, I put it back. It's not worth getting sick over, just because a company is lax in their info. I too, believe these companies should state the nature of the MFS and any other questionable...
  18. Couldn't find the smiley you wanted, will this do? I do not trust Dannon. They say there may be gluten in their products and to me, that means they aren't careful enough. My sister called them once and they told her they do worry about gluten. She has not purchased them since. Some of there products even tell you there is gluten. Yesterday...
  19. Very true. You can't tell a celiac by looking at them. That is one of the reason's I hate when I hear someone say, "You don't look celiac!" Especially when a doctor says it. It's not a look, it's an illness and so many illnesses can make you look the same way. Thyroid disease can make you look very ill, cancer does, heart disease does, a number of diseases...
  20. Yes, Sudafed is gluten free. Here is a great site that you should bookmark: Open Original Shared Link I always use the alpabetical list.
  21. Georgie, I signed the petition too.
  22. I mentioned to my new doc that thyroid seemed to be a problem for me and she says--all is within range. I asked her which range she goes by. She says, "There is only one range, TSH .40-5.50!" She would not even discuss new ranges. Got a look on her face that said, I am done discussing this!
  23. General opinion: NOPE, CAN'T MAKE ME DO IT!!!!!!!!
  24. As has already been said--you go girl!!! We have to learn that we can't always be sweet because people will not understand. Sometimes we have to be insistant, they have got to understand that none means none. I will not eat out either. I attended our celiac support meeting Tuesday night and food vendor was there with some of her new products. She...
  25. CMCM--your definition was great. Actually even helped me understand a little more and I have been gluten free for 7 yrs. I was not diagnosed as a baby, yet my mom said I always spit up on everything, I always got sick in the car, always had a touchy tummy. When I was pregnant with my 2nd son, who is 31 now, I was sick every other night. Was always...
