  1. I don't mind the Tapioca Lite Loaf by Ener-G. That's what my son takes to lunch every day. Once it's open, though, it works better as toast. You might want to take your toaster with you. A word of caution, however. I found (for me anyway) that it can really pack on the pounds. Traveling food...hmmm...peanutbutter, Dintymoore Beef Stew in a can...
  2. Hey all- My kids got gift certificates from school for Sonic Drive Thru, and of course are dying to use them. I know Sonics slushees (or whatever they call them there) used to be gluten free, but I can't find anything current on them. Anyone have any updated info? Thanks. Gina
  3. I can totally see that working. My family has asked me to see if I can use it for pizza crust. Let us know how it turns out! Gina
  4. I don't know about the freezing - but THANK YOU so much for the recipe! My little girl was close to tears at the healthfood store last weekend. She was so excited to see gluten-free corn dogs, but they were more than $8 for a box of 6. Gina
  5. Hi and Welcome, I too have the problems with the cramps in the bottoms of my feet and sometimes in my palms. I've been told that any vitamin deficiency is typical for us. I don't get them every day, but when I do, I know I have to take my magnesium for a few days. Gina
  6. A little cc equals the mouth ulcers and a little emotional for a few days. Anyting more is full blown pain and depression and fatigue that doesn't fully end for a couple weeks.
  7. Champagne and sparkling wine are safe - Cheers!
  8. For juice boxes we go with Capri Sun. They are owned by Kraft who labels all hidden gluten. I always call to double check - it makes me feel better. And they confirmed Capri Sun was gluten-free. Also there is Juicy Juice, Apple & Eve, and Welches brand juices are gluten-free. Ice Cream - we go with Edy's. Their website lists ice cream by flavors...
  9. I have called Duncan Hines and they said their frostings are gluten-free except for any that contain coconut, obvious ingredients like cookies, or their whipped frostings and NO BUTTERCREAM frostings - they come in both the chocolate and vanilla. I stick with the basics from them and have had no problems (except one time when I accidentally got chocolate...
  10. Thanks, I'll check it out.
  11. That's cool - We love garlic. Thanks!
  12. Oh thanks - you are always so helpful. I'll check that one out on the way home. Gina
  13. Joe, If you check out Edy's website, they list each flavor with ingredients and if it is gluten-free. I know there are plenty of other brands (Blue Bunny for example) that are gluten-free, but we stick with Edy's in my house just because we don't like to switch around once we find something.
  14. I checked wit our local Melting Pot and got a very positive response. They said when I call to make reservations, just let them know about needing a gluten-free menu, and they will be sure to have one when we get there! Woohoo! Thanks for the info. I never would have thought about checking there. Sauces usually scare me.
  15. My husband got his cholesterol test results yesterday, and it wasn't pretty. It seems like nearly everything in the house in low fat and low chosterol, with a few exceptions (dairy). Anyone have any suggestions for a gluten-free butter substitution that would work well with cooking/baking? I guess there is no hope for replacing his beloved cheese...
  16. Here's the recipe for Honey Brined Herb Roasted Turkey: Ingredients: 1 Fresh turkey 8 - 10 qts water 2 cups kosher salt 1 cup honey 3 - 4 tsp coarsely ground black pepper 10 - 12 cloves garlic, peeled 2 bunches fresh thyme 1 bunch fresh sage 4 - 5 cups chicken stock 2 to 3 lemons 2 - 4 teaspoons olives oil Remove giblets & neck from...
  17. That's very exciting. I always thought that sounded like a fun place to eat. I have sent a message to our local Melting Pot to see if they can accomodate us here. I'm crossing my fingers. Thanks! Gina
  18. I have never used an injector, but we soak our turkey overnight in a brine. It always turns out super moist. I would be happy to share the recipe if you are interested. Gina
  19. OOOOOOOO Those look like they would work great! Thanks. Gina
  20. I wanted to make these Christmas "candies" that my Mom used to make. They were similar in principle to rice krispy treats, only they used cornflakes and green food dye. The idea is to form them into little holly berry clusters by placing 2 or 3 red hots on each little pile. But my son has an allergic reaction to Red Dye #40. Can anyone suggest a substitute...
  21. I don't know where you could buy a cake like that, but I bet you could make one. I made my daughter one of those Barbie doll cakes one year. You could buy that dome cake pan and bake the cake in there. Then when it's done and cooled, you could buy a cinderella doll (barbie size) and stick her down in it. Then frost it the dome like her dress and make...
  22. Thanks! My kids and I will give them a try this weekend! Gina
  23. The only fries I am not horrified of are the waffle fries at Chick Fil A. I don't know of any other safe ones at this time. Gina
  24. Sorry, I am not much help. But if you do a search on "Japan" a lot of topics come up including some board members that live/lived in Japan. Maybe that will help you. Gina
  25. Wow! I am so jealous. Thanks for sharing the info. Gina
