  1. Great to get it out of the way. Good luck with the results. If negative, have a think about whether it could be non celiac gluten intolerance NGCI. There are a bunch of us around
  2. We are a mixed house. I did keep getting glutened until I told DH that the whole house would have to go gluten-free if it kept happening, as we couldn't afford to have him off work to look after the kids if I got glutened. 6 weeks and so far so good
  3. I am still getting this, but getting round it by not using the back button, instead going back through the forums button on the mobile site, or by clickingback to forums on the full site. It seems to register as read then, though it doesn't look like it until you come back after being away or on the main forums page again.
  4. My cat knew I was pregnant and went bananas. Mind you, cats are not much good for training
  5. There was a thread a while back on this, sorry I can't seem to link to it from my phone. Definitely people with advice. Can be a warning for retinal detachment among other things.
  6. I am à sensitive sniffer I can sometimes smell when a diabetic is out of whack. It is the classic sweet pear drop smell that people say is on the breath, but I smell it on the skin. I had a boyfriend with diabetes, but I had to pretend it didn't happen, it used to annoy him that I knew. Mind you, it annoyed me that he used to get drunk and expect his ...
  7. I think I am heading the same way. I can't seem to handle fruit at the moment. I can manage say 3 dates, but not raisins or apricots. The thought of eating fruit after a month without makes me nauseous. I can just about handle white rice, in small doses, but it pushes me towards cravings. I have tried cheddar cheese an am staying firmly in denial that...
  8. Funny, I ended up doing cheese and rice together. I seem to have survived adding the gluten-free soy sauce too. Dinner is as many roasted vegetables.as I can get my hands on, and most likely lamb.
  9. I agree, it is really important you understand that you can choose. I made all my family come to me for the holidays so I could be in control. I am off to visit 3 different sets of friends soon, and have confirmed with each that I will prepare my own food while there, taking my own utensils. All are fine with it. Good luck, it can take a while to realize...
  10. Just wanted to throw something else in there, though you might not thank me . I tested negative for celiac from blood and biopsy, and then in a gene test. I been gluten light for years. I did 3 weeks of a gluten challenge, which was enough to convince me to try strict gluten-free. I have found a massive difference between gluten-free and gluten light, I have...
  11. Hey goodtime, just to let you know that if you need or choose an endoscopy or further blood tests, you need to be eating gluten still, so maybe consider holding off until testing is complete, if you want a diagnosis. I wish you luck with finding the root of your problems. It is amazing what can turn out to be related
  12. Hey razzle, sounds like you turned the corner. Glad things are looking up I got a lovely new purple toaster and bread bin about 2 weeks before I gave up gluten-free bread... It can be an expensive old time..
  13. Will be interesting to find out. My GI in the UK told me there are ethical questions about treating people with no symptoms. I would think there are ethical issues if we know they may have silent celiac and don't suggest treatment. Interested to know what others know about this, thanks for raising it.
  14. Hi Laura, I havebeen through a similar process in the last few months, an have an NCGI diagnosis after negative gene tests, endoscopy and blood work. I lasted 3 weeks on a gluten challenge. I have taken my response to eating gluten and being gluten-free as the evidence that I will be gluten-free for life. There is an increasing body of research...
  15. Good luck with the programme, let us know how you get on Mw
  16. I had a lot of problems when I reintroduced gluten for the challenge, much worse than before. I had already been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, which leads to heel pain, which might be worth looking at. Mine disappeared again when I went gluten-free. It returns if I get glutened. I think it is a generalized inflammation that gets us on gluten sometimes...
  17. I was told if I don't have the genes, I ain't celiac (I don't have the genes). Does anyone have any information about the other 3%?
  18. Pork, sweet potato, carrots, broccoli
  19. Terrible business. Got everything crossed for you and yours x
  20. Wow, I am impressed. My hair would never take a Farrah Fawcett, but I thought she was so cool. I managed a floppy Lady Di for a while, but it wasn't very good Oh, and good luck in the storm....
  21. Stir fry tonight, turkey, carrots, zucchini, mushrooms rice and gluten-free soy sauce. Looks like a few steps back then start the reintroductions again next week.
  22. Hey razzle Just wanted to let you know I was wrecked like you after my gluten challenge. It took me a few weeks to start feeling better, once gluten-free. My sugar levels were a mess. I found I needed to eat good nutritious foods and lay off the junk. I have been better than for years now. The challenge was hell for me, but my silver lining was that it...
  23. Migraines too! Gone from losing several days a month in bed to maybe an afternoon around my period. Unless I get glutened, then hey presto, kicks in second day. All sounds like good news on this front. Remember you need to be eating gluten until all blood tests and biopsies are done. Good luck, ask lots of questions as you get to grips with the...
  24. There are definitely sprays to use. Some numb, some freeze, I think. Have had both for my son in nhs . Again, maybe phone in advance to get a strategy with the nurses. Maybe they could try a different setting, e.g. GP surgery if it was hospital this time, or vice versa.
