Hello Sillies,
Got a question here. Need your collective wisdom.
Some of you may remember the wedding, two years ago, for my daughter. Yeah, well.....not such a good idea. AND, I KNEW THAT AT THE TIME!!!!!
Can you get engaged to one man, while you're awaiting your divorce from another.
Needless to say, it's been very interesting around here. Got one of those boomerang kids.
So what do you think?
(and seriously working toward my 5,000 post - Patti what happens - I'm afraid)
-
Celiac or a gluten sensitivity has a very loud voice. When you deal with that and that voice gets quiet, sometimes you can hear other voices.
After I went gluten free, I found that I had some issues with dairy. I stopped and it went away. I was able to add it back in a few months.
Try a food journal.
Now, I find that chocolate can give me reflux, but I chance it from time to time.

Here is a link to the Board Rules.
I would not think that it would be a violation to sell an individual product, by an individual member. I would include that anyone interested in your bread machine, contact you through a personal message.
It is not allowed to self-promote a business.
But, I can also see how this site could turn into e-bay for Celiacs.
............so, I will defer to other moderators or the administration.

I recall several members talking about using the cheese packet and pitching the noodles. Unless the formula has changed, it would be safe to use.
I like Amy's Mac & Cheese in the individual servings.

We have two fires burning in the wetlands (deep beneath the peat) near us in North Carolina since June. I can attest the the air quality.
Sending prayers for strength for the firefighters and those with homes nearby.

Hello everyone! This board is awesome! I kept looking at it for information when my doctor's thought I might have Celiac's, and now I would like to start chatting and being an active part of the board.
I am new to this whole "Celiac's thing", and I live in Minneapolis (Twin Cities area). I don't have a support group or a network of any kind, and I feel rather alone in everything, and I was wondering if there are any support groups that meet often and regularly that I could join? Has anyone had success with finding some great places to learn and share idea and not be alone?
Thanks!

You are very welcome to join us. I feel it's the best Celiac and associated issues around. Here is a link for some local support.
Jump in anytime, the waters relaxing.

Welcome to our world Tanya!
I certainly understand how you feel. An unfamiliar gastro doctor diagnosed me and let the door hit me in the butt on the way out. I found myself here and never left.
A great first read is Dr. Peter Green's "Celiac Disease: A Hidden Epidemic".
For the time being eat simply with meats, seafood, rice, potatoes, fresh veggies and fruit. Go diary light or eliminate it altogether for the time being. Dairy can be added easily when healing has begun.
Healing can take days to several months and a total gluten free lifestyle is a must. It will, without doubt, be a lifestyle change. Soon it will become second nature and after some time, you will live a life without deprivation, and without issues. A good thing to look forward to.
A shared toaster is not recommended. A new one will cost under $10.00.
Gluten can hide in many ways. Shampoos, lipsticks, lotions, meds, vitamins or anything that can get in or near your mouth. Please review these.
The key to the success on the gluten free diet is to learn to read labels. To ease that task for you, here is a listing of companies who will clearly list all forms of gluten in their labeling. If you do not see wheat, barley, malt or rye on the label, it just isn't in there and safe to consume.

And the best advise that I can share with you is to read, read, read from this site. It's the best around.
Good luck and feel free to ask anything.

Ingredients can change without warning, so the best way to know if something is safe is to read labels. Here is a list of companies who will clearly list all forms of gluten (as in wheat, barley, malt and rye). If you don't see these words from these companies, it just isn't there.

Hope this helps.

Here is a link that will explain the testing. A full panel is important for optimum accuracy.

I know that this is a really old question, but I just wanted to respond because this is an issue I am having right now. I called the company and asked them if Prevacid was gluten free. After several minutes she said she would have to call me back. She called back and said, yes, they are gluten free. I called the pharmacy and asked them to read off the ingredients, one of the ingredients is "starch". I can tell you for a FACT they are NOT gluten free. If they are then why have I been so sick this week since I started taking them. I tried an experiment. I didn't take them for a couple of days, I got better, I took one this morning at 7:00 am, and I just got out of the bathroom AGAIN It is now 2:30. I have had terrible cramping, back pain, and headache. Not to mention feeling like I have been run over by a truck. All symptoms that I have when I have been glutened. They may have changed their formula now that corn has gotten so expensive, and that "starch" in there is now wheat..... But I have no doubt in my mind they are not gluten free.

Prevacid is indeed gluten free. Although you might be reacting, but your reaction in not gluten related in Prevacid.

Oh, and could someone help me out with this forum software? I can't see any posts I make in the corresponding forum, all I see are a ton of 'Pinned:' posts. To get to any post I make I have to go to my control panel, and it's almost as if the threads I make aren't showing up at the top of the forum.
I've tried arranging by date and all that, but it's a no-go.
Each new post is viewed by a moderator to check for correct substance and placement. Then it's pinned.
As each new post is made, or answered, it moves up to the top of the current page.
To answer your previous post, everyone responds differently. Seven days does seem like a long time to react. But, I'm not sure what you mean by metabolic reactions.
Would it be helpful to you to begin a food journal and track your reaction with more detail?
-
Many people here go back to the BRAT Diet...Banana, rice, apple sauce and tea. Once the autoimmune reaction kicks in, alot of the time you just need to ride it out.
You can take Imodium for the diarrhea and something to settle your stomach.
Here is a listing of some gluten free meds:

Who moderates the moderators? That last little barb hurts my feelings!
neesee
I believe that it was noted before, that only the individual poster can see his/hers warning levels, with the exception of the moderators. Other members here cannot see other warning levels except for their own.
Sorry neesee, your feeling were hurt
. Sometimes a little humor can be taken the wrong way.

Thanks for another great update.

Interest here!

Educate yourself regarding McD's french fries and then make your own decision to eat or not eat. That to me is the bottom line.

Thanks so much for the update. I have always used Color Surge Lipstick, but it's getting harder to find.
Great to have a couple options.

This morning,my local news station ran a segment about Bio Cleanse Foot Bath therapy. It is suppose to pull toxins from your body just by soaking in this foot bath for a 30 minute session. They use a magnet in the water hooked to the Bio Cleanse machine.Sorry, the technical end escapes at the moment,as to how it works. The average person needs several visits but many feel relief after the first one.The testimonials are great....of course...but you never know about these things.
It looked like something I would be very interested in....but I know very little about it.It sounds amazing....almost to good to be true. The sessions are $25 for 30 minutes at her wellness center.I would love to purchase a unit for myself,my husband and the rest of the family.Has anyone has any experience with Bio Cleanse Foot Bath therapy?
I would save your money for a more traditional approach to what ever ails you.

I guess it sounded ok to me because I bought a canned chicken soup and it has Yeast Extract in there...does anyone know if this is going to make me sick?

Yeast extract is not gluten related. I can't vouch for the other ingredients in the chicken soup, though.

Add me to the list -- thanks for answering.
I thought it was a little strange since mine said 0% but I had a warning when I didnt think and posted my own website once.
ken
No, Ken, what you got was a "courtesy call", not a warning. We save the warnings for very special people.
-
Yup, keep the crock pot and clean it well. Spend that money on a toaster for yourself or the one in your family who is gluten sensitive. A dedicated toaster is a must.
-
Although you found a great bargain, if you have Celiac or gluten intolerance, a second hand bread machine is not recommended. It would be impossible to clean and will contaminate any gluten free bread.
-
I think it's great for you to start a support group in your area.
The Celiac Disease Foundation has some wonderful start-up information. You can contact Deborah Ceizler at this link. Through this organization, you will recieve offers from new companies to sample their gluten free products for your group.
